I've been reading the new book "Live From New York", the Saturday Night Live book and it's very good.
Lots of interesting backstage stories. They interview most of the major surviving cast members (past and present). The only famous castmember who wasn't interviewed was Eddie Murphy.

Just in the last 2 years?
Does this look like a man who would dry hump a mannequin?

Jimmy Fallon is Imitating Dennis Miller? Dont see it personally. I just think he is being a little too cute in most of his Weekend Update skits. Other than that, he actually is IN THE SHOW, not just on WU. (not that I like him on it, but at least he gets there and tries not to laugh too much.)
I love that Miller was "too big" to be interviewed.
I mean, if Lorne and Ebersol can be interviewed, as well as all the people that get skewered in teh book (like the woman who replaced Lorne in 1980), why can't Mr. Self-Referentiality?
Hey, Miller used to be in some of the sketches, too. He was in a few in his first season, the Randy Quaid year, like the Star Search one where they did the long-forgotten Acting Competition (clearly the best part of Star Search), re-enacting the old No Pepsi Coke Greek diner sketch. And he was George in the great Albert Goldman vs. Elvis & The Beatles sketch. "Quiet, Ringo, Elvis is talking!" That was the Matthew Broderick episode, he was all over that one.
I miss the days of Dennis Miller and A. Whitney Brown Weekend Updates. Tina Fey is pretty good, but Fallon only makes me laugh when he's doing impressions, kinda like how I thought Norm had some unbeatable impressions (his Burt Reynolds was even funnier than Phil Hartman's, which was already great) but I never thought he was right for the news. Better than Colin Quinn or the Rocket Report, though.
Originally posted by StaggerLeeMan I LOVED Norm on the weekend update. He said shit that NOBODY else would even try to, and most of the time got away with it. He was great, IMO.
"You see I left the show because of a disagreement. I WANTED to keep my job, but they said I wasn't funny enough. Now, I'm back hosting. How did I get so God Damn funny all of a sudden? I didn't know so I watched a few tapes and realized I haven't, the show has just REALLY gone downhill. The bad news is I'm still not funny. The good news is the show BLOWS!"
"Fred Goldman complained about OJ's claim of not being able to pay the fines from his civil suit. OJ responded 'Aw you're just mad I killed your son.'"
