I watch Raw every week and get disappointed a lot. But I keep watching because I love wrestling, and I keep a little hope that it will get better. I keep thinking, "Maybe tonight will be great. Maybe they'll go back to the good stuff." I'll watch again next week. And if they show Kane buggering Triple H in a church while Billy and Chuck make out and Rikishi gives the stinkface to a Bret Hart cardboard cut-out, I'll still watch. Because I keep remembering the glory days of Foley, Austin and the Rock and I'd like to see that type of stuff again.

Didn't CRZ already take his ball and go home once? I caught the casket scene between commercials during a movie that I was watching with my girlfriend. (non-wrestling fan) We were laughing because it was TOO STUPID TO TAKE SERIOUSLY.

(Sadly, most here are too wrapped up hating HHH to realise that it was a fucking joke. True, it was in bad taste, but still a joke. If it was Jericho, half of you would be writing about spitting Jolt through your noses.)

Anyway, I'll admit that I was a little embarrassed to be associated as a wrestling fan, but as I went to turn back to the movie before the segment was over, my girlfriend stopped me to say that we had to see how it ended. That, my friends, is a new casual fan. Isn't that what WWE is trying to get?

I considered putting all of my wrestling items for sale on E-bay and putting a link to them in the complaint letter to the feedback site, but I thought they might see that as more melodramatic than effective. I don't know what I'm going to say in the feedback, but I hope they realize that they are far past the line and need to cut this shit out.

Oh, and before you flame me for being disgusted with this, realize that I was about 15 minutes away from calling Chris up and talking to him about pulling the plug on the board. I don't want to be associated with this crap in any way.

I'm right with you, Guru. This was completely ridiculous. I was on the phone with RawLo during it, and all we could say was, "Oh shit!" I tried to find something else to watch... couldn't find anything, and every time I went back to TNN, the horror show was still on. We couldn't believe it. This stinks of WCW in it's dying days.
I love wrestling and have been watching since the old Mid-South days, but Kevin Kelly is way off here. I could give a shit that his wife now watches because of the angle. Does she still watch after watching Vince's son-in-law porking a corpse?

The reason I was going to put the stuff on E-bay is because I can't think of any other way to prove to WWE that I am seriously disgusted and not just some fan shooting my mouth off. People run their mouth every day and say things they have no intention of backing up. I was trying to think of any way I could send a message that would be taken as more than rhetoric.

They need to get the idea that running angles that are in HORRIBLY bad taste costs them money and fans - especially fans that have a significant investment in their memorabilia. I am a fan that WWE should never want to lose.

Before this year, you could go ahead and write in the fact that I would at a minimum buy every PPV, 4 - 5 wrestling figures, a couple of DVDs, and make a house show or TV taping if they were in town. I buy products that are advertised on their shows - sometimes simply BECAUSE they have a wrestler endorse them (*Yes, I bought a few Hungry Man dinners just because I was glad that they gave Booker T an opportunity to be a spokesman).

Not only that, but I take MY time and put up with people LIKE YOU that make me hate wrestling fans in general - in order to help build a community where wrestling can be discussed. WWE doesn't pay for the server, the time we spend coding, the time we spend moderating, etc. I like to think that by providing a civil place for discussion, that we are actually helping the cause of wrestling in general more than we are hurting it.

You think I need psychotherapy because I'm disgusted by this angle? I think you need help if you think this is acceptable! Where exactly do you draw the line?

Let me spell out for you again what happened last night...

A man simulated sex with a dead body, then simulated scooping out the brains of the corpse in order to deliver a "one-liner".

The argument that it was obviously a dummy doesn't fly with me. I guess you would all accept a child molestation story line, as long as the simulated child was obviously a dummy. Hey, as long as the protagonist was comical about it and ended up with the line "If there's grass on the lawn, mow it", right? Then maybe he could drive a riding lawn mower over the shaking dummy, and have gore fly all over the camera... because that would be in good taste and perfectly acceptable to you.

Or maybe a rape simulation, as long as no one was actually raped... right? As long as we don't see the penetration, it's ok to have rape angles as long as the actor that is a rapist is "funny" as he goes about it, and ends up with a a Bugs Bunny scenario where the rapist Tricks the person into saying no to the question "DO you want me to stop raping you?" so he can say "No means no"... that would be funny too, right? And I would still need help if that happened and I didn't want to be associated with it?

I can't understand why anyone would be for this necrophilia angle.

As to why I would want to close the board - I don't see your real name associated with your alias anywhere. People I know in real life associate me with wrestling, and judge me based upon what they see on the shows. If I maintain a site like this with crap like that on the show, it looks like I support it. I absolutely don't - and I'm embarrassed to be associated with it in any way. I guess the easiest answer is to shut the board down.

If you need a place to go, there is a nice WWE chat room on their site where you will find plenty of other brainless morons who will never disagree with the company line. Have fun there. I'm tired of jackasses like you trying to bully people who have the common sense to recognize crap when they see it.

I hear ya Guru. It's a bit difficult to rise above the "all wrestling fans are redneck idiots with IQs of 50" stereotype when this is the crap they put on TV. I've been having trouble writing a coherent opinion about this stuff for publication. I couldn't imagine having to pay to maintain a server and all that other stuff you guys do with this stuff being the reward.

In what parallel dimension do we find that shows that have "roided guy pretends to be burned guy with zombie powers fucking dead girl in casket" as their fall sweeps ratings lead-in?

The WWE tries to say that they are catering to a certain audience--but who exactly IS that audience? I'm not sure I want to know.

DrOp--will cringe if this show popped a rating other than the post-PPV usual.

I was actually dreading coming into work today for fear that a co-worker may have watched RAW last night in an attempt to figure out why I enjoy it so much.

EDIT:
And as far as "new casual fans" go.... I have been watching wrestling (and the WWE) for about 20 years. I think I deserve a little more respect than Triple H dry-humping a doll....

Actually, if you'd described this as a future episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," I probably would've believed it.

Thank you Guru, for so perfectly and honestly expressing the frustration that so many of us are feeling right now. I'm sorry it took what looks like a near meltdown for it to come out so perfectly. It seems like people here who love everything coming out of WWE right now are extremely defensive about criticism, kinda like WCW fans circa January 2001. No one wants to be the last one on the Titanic calling for more speed, and can't stand people asking what the big icy thing ahead is. I guess they don't think you're too crazy to use the board that you put so much effort into though.

You could always make a video of you burning your stuff. I mean, if you're truly so disgusted by the WWE, you would refuse to profit off of them. But yeah, using the WWE to make money sure is showing them how much disdain you have for them!

They need to get the idea that running angles that are in HORRIBLY bad taste costs them money and fans - especially fans that have a significant investment in their memorabilia. I am a fan that WWE should never want to lose.

Well, I have a friend who heard her brother laughing really hard and went to see why and caught a majority of the necrophelia skit. She thought it was so funny that she's decided to watch wrestling again after several months or more of not watching at all. So there's an addition to the fan base, we'll see how many of the people who have stopped watching the WWE forever again this week remember their boycott come Thursday.

I buy products that are advertised on their shows - sometimes simply BECAUSE they have a wrestler endorse them (*Yes, I bought a few Hungry Man dinners just because I was glad that they gave Booker T an opportunity to be a spokesman).

I've always wondered what it was like to be one of those automatons who buys a product simply because a celebrity says to do so. Does it hurt?

Not only that, but I take MY time and put up with people LIKE YOU that make me hate wrestling fans in general - in order to help build a community where wrestling can be discussed.

Yet you get pissed off when people don't share your exact opinions. What's the point of a discussion where everyone says the same thing?

WWE doesn't pay for the server, the time we spend coding, the time we spend moderating, etc. I like to think that by providing a civil place for discussion, that we are actually helping the cause of wrestling in general more than we are hurting it.

How exactly does a little message forum help the cause of wrestling? By smartening up fans so they can all hate a show because HHH was on it for more than 5 minutes? Or is it your goal to convince the casual fan that Chris Benoit actually has a personality, in hopes that he might get over enough to become champion?

You think I need psychotherapy because I'm disgusted by this angle? I think you need help if you think this is acceptable! Where exactly do you draw the line?

I never said there was anything wrong with disliking an angle. There is, however, something seriously wrong if act like a 5 minute skit on a television show is the end of the world.

Let me spell out for you again what happened last night...

A man simulated sex with a dead body, then simulated scooping out the brains of the corpse in order to deliver a "one-liner".

The argument that it was obviously a dummy doesn't fly with me.

But see, it wasn't supposed to be "acceptable". HHH is a bad guy. He's an asshole. He was ridiculing Kane. He was INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO OFFEND PEOPLE AND IT WORKED. What's the point of having bad guys if they only do things that people approve of?

I guess you would all accept a child molestation story line, as long as the simulated child was obviously a dummy. Hey, as long as the protagonist was comical about it and ended up with the line "If there's grass on the lawn, mow it", right? Then maybe he could drive a riding lawn mower over the shaking dummy, and have gore fly all over the camera... because that would be in good taste and perfectly acceptable to you.

And I would still need help if that happened and I didn't want to be associated with it?

You're right, we should never do anything offensive on television. I guess we'll have to get rid of what's left of the matches, as well, since many people are offended by physical violence. So no more actual matches, no more offensive angles and no more T&A, since people find that offensive as well. I guess we'll just have to stick to 2 hour long interview shows to make sure nobody is offended anymore.

I can't understand why anyone would be for this necrophilia angle.

And I can't understand why someone would be offended by a comedy skit on television.

As to why I would want to close the board - I don't see your real name associated with your alias anywhere. I absolutely don't - and I'm embarrassed to be associated with it in any way. I guess the easiest answer is to shut the board down.

I don't try to hide my association with wrestling because I'm not embarassed about it. In fact, I told several non-wrestling fans about the HHH skit because I thought it was hilarious and several of them got a laugh out of it too.

However, you're the one talking about how you want to prove that you're not merely mouthing rhetoric and want to back up what you're saying, so either close the boards or quit whining about it.

If you need a place to go, there is a nice WWE chat room on their site where you will find plenty of other brainless morons who will never disagree with the company line. Have fun there. I'm tired of jackasses like you trying to bully people who have the common sense to recognize crap when they see it.

So it's wrong for me to insinuate that you should lighten up but it's perfectly fine for you to call me a brainless moron because I enjoyed a comedy sketch? I'm not trying to bully anyone into anything. I simply stated an opinion that differs from yours. I never once stated that someone was an idiot because they didn't like the skit, I simply said people shouldn't act like it's the end of the fucking known universe. It's a TV show, for Christ sakes, stop taking it so seriously. And for those who are going to say that I shouldn't take it so seriously either, I would like to point out that I wrote this reply while wearing a red clown nose.

One question -- how many casual fans like your friend are willing to pay $35 a month to watch pay per views? How many casual fans would pay $100 to watch a TV taping, or $50 for a throw-away two hour house show? How many casual fans will pay $30 for a couple of crummy foam RVD points-to-self hands?

Trying to attract casual fans in the interest of bumping up TV ratings is a good idea. Trying to attract casual fans by offending and driving away long-time loyal fans who pay cash directly to the WWE in multiple ways is corporate suicide.

Edit: If you can use an anecdote to prove a point so can I -- I know at least ten people, friends or aquaintances at work, who regularly watch the WWE and can be classified as more than casual fans. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM hated the 'semen' promo, and I'm betting every single one of them
hated Raw last night. These people aren't smarks, they go to the WWE website but not the Torch. They are fans who go to houseshows and TV tapings and have house parties for the Royal Rumble. And I have yet to meet one in 'real life' who has liked this angle or this direction for Raw. Corporate suicide.

Those things are 30 bucks? Yeeesh!

Have you checked out the latest column on wwe.com? Apparently one of the columnists hated it too. I think it's the same guy who wrote the "shut up and wrestle" article. You think they have him on the staff to give the smarks a reason to check out the website? Or maybe his article is legit, and it's reflective of all the hate mail the WWE has received in the last 24 hours?

I think it would be great if someone posted the names of the companies that advertise during the Monday - 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM time slot on TNN and TSN. Informing these companies via e-mail that you refuse to purchase and of the advertised merchandise during this time period would definately give WWE a good kick in the ass.

First off I'm shocked in Guru and or Zed restraint in not going on a banning/ insult spree with some of the people here with obnoxious replies to other stating "their" opinion.

Well first off let me get to Kelly's quote. This is what is wrong with the WWE. They (along with some on here) think "hardcore" fans will stay no matter what. That's bull I *know* hardcore fans that left. They had enough of the Triple H/ Taker show for the last year and left. Does that mean their not "hardcore" fans anymore cause they left. NO they were but they just had enough. On THis board Ringmistress said she had enough and someone came in right away and accused her of not being "die-hard". I look at her statement as a "die-hard" fan who's at her wits end... I'm as "die-hard" as it comes to wrestling but during WCW Russo era, I personally just had enough and stopped following it. So what does that make me?

Kelly Quote worries me almost as bad as what we see on TV. Because he seems clueless of what made WWE click a few years ago. It wasn't Sexual Chocolate/Mae Young it wasn't even DX. It was Austin v. McMahon(Rock) that made the WWE. It was the every day man v. corperate America that grabbed everyone's attention. It was a main event star that delivered in matches and promos the high majority of time. Unlike now which we have the only main event player on Raw who's an average wrestler and has limited charisma who really is a upper-midcarder at best. THAT is where the problem is... I could also go on that a few years ago the fans could connect to all wrestlers better cause they saw their favourites go from introduction to midcard to main eventers (Austin, Foley, Rock, HHH). Now it seems like it's introduction to midcards to a limited main event role and right back to midcard purgatory.

As for the posters here stating their "non-fans" catching th show. I could see "RogueRacer" friend reaction, you wanted to see the end of the freak show segment, but you guys did go back to watching the movie right? So it didn't necessary make you stick around to watch the whole show. And no please don't put words in my mouth. I think it would suck just as bad seeing Jericho or anyone else do it... As for InVerse. I guess I have to take your word for it that your friends sister started watching the show because of it (any relation to Kelly's wife. there are 2 females in the world that became fans BECAUSE of it?). I just find that so surreal that a person would watch an 2 hour wrestling show now because of a guy humping a mannequin for 5 minutes
