I admit, I was angry after I watched that skit last night. I think partly because it was spoiled for me beforehand and I didn't want to like it, so I convinced myself that even if it was funny, I wouldn't find it to be. But that didn't work out for me because I giggled when HHH walked through the door dressed as Kane and said "It's me.. Kane." That was the probably the only aspect of the skit that I found entertaining, outside of when he raised her leg and it was stiff and pointy toed like a mannaquin's.

As a whole, the segment was bad. I didn't fall over laughing like some people here are claiming. It got a 'tee hee' out of me. Like the first time I saw PootieTang. It was so horrible that after a half hour, I took the DVD out of the player, went back to Blockbuster and demanded my money back. I got it too.
Anyway... I realize today, after a good nights sleep, what I failed to realize then. I am too old for that kind of humor. As people get older, they tend to adapt and depending on your experiences, you'll find some things less or more funny. The skit last night was a little beneath my brand of humor, but if you found it funny, then you are who the WWE aimed the segment to.

Let's just agree to disagree and be done with it. I'm just really sad because there are so many people backstage with no feud or storyline and the WWE goes this far for just one. I will not stop watching the show because of one angle. I support Tommy Dreamer, Jeff Hardy, and all the other guys who are wrestling for 'nothing' these days. So, I'm not going to turn it off.

Well, I can call it funny because I fell off my couch due to laughing so hard.

Then you are very easily entertained. Keep watching, I'm sure there's more in the works.

If it was supposed to be camp, then they could've played it up (as Excalibur did a fine job of suggesting). But this was just a mix of inexcusable bad taste and crap... leaning more towards crap."

Again, pick on it for being a complete pile of suck (which it was) instead of a horrific debasement of humanity (which it really wasn't). I find this less offensive than the OTHER major coffin/dead body angle (Bossman/Big Show) mainly because this was supposed to be a complete piss-take, whereas back then the whole "cancer/Evil Bossman" thing was actually intended as SERIOUS TV. I do, owever, think it's a big heapin' helpin' o' CRAP and that's why I hate it.

I actually thought it was pretty damned funny. The real problem with it was that HHH, in typical poocHHHie fashion, took it on way too long. By the time he got around to actually SCREWING "Katie," I was thinking- come on, lets go- lets get on with it! It would have been way better if he just skipped the "foreplay" and just jumped the corpse....

Look, it's not your job to look after the kids, look after me, look after the handicapped, the stupid, the too smart for their own good, look after everyone in the whole damn world, etc.. That's what pisses me off threads like these. It's not that someone doesn't like a segment, clearly this segment like this will not appeal to a mass audience. I only thought it was OK myself, guilty pleasure. But it's the whole "I didn't like this segment, and neither should you." vibe that I get from a few.

As I've said, if this was part of some low-budget B-movie, I wouldn't have had such a problem with it. I may not have watched it twice, but I wouldn't have had such a problem with it. The problem here is that WWE is trying to have it both ways: they're trying to attract the kids and be edgy for the adults at the same time. As others have mentioned, it's unlikely that only people 14 and older are buying the Halloween masks, action figures, and wrestling ring playsets. Additionally, the parents of some of those young children probably remember the Hulkamania Era, when angles were written for everyone's enjoyment without resorting to shock tactics or fetish material, and may not have believed that WWE would have pulled something like The Tape on RAW. I don't think that it's too much to ask to expect writing that will at least satisfy all ages without resorting to shock tactics - I believe it still can be done.

If you were in the crowd, ges, and there was a ten-year-old nearby who obviously didn't understand that it was a stunt, how would you have explained The Tape?

How do you explain it? How about this, how do you explaint bringing your 10year old to witness a show that is featuring a storyline about possible necrophilia, and drunk driving to begin with. If you dont care about your child enough to NOT BRING THEM, you really shouldnt be that upset when they see something "you might have to explain"

DIdnt they show a warning before the skit?

I thought it was played as comedic as you can make the subject matter, and while I didnt find it overly humorous, HHH's tone of voice gave away that he was playing it for humor.

I'd much rather my children learn that having sex with a corpse can be funny than learn that women can only be empowered and successful by injecting large amounts of silicon into their chests.

This statement reminds me of the old quote regarding a particularly poor Presidential Election: "we as a nation will now choose between drinking Arsenic and drinking strychnine." Kinda scary that there's a worse message being delivered by WWE than necrophilia for humor value.

I don't. I don't get involved in other people's business.

You realize how close you are getting to PTC territory, don't you? You realize that different people find different things inappropriate for children, right? You realize that some people find the whole wrestling genre inappropriate. Should Vince just stop producing shows because some parents and non-parents find wrestling inappropriate for children? That would deny others, who may enjoy this type of material, but so what, it saves the kids.

I'm a big believer in personal choice and responsibility. That helps avoid these kind of issues. You can't satisfy ALL people of ALL ages. It just can't be done. I don't think the fact that the WWE of today is not the WWE of the 1980's is exactly the world's best kept secret. Maybe I am wrong.

Humm I don't really know what that means, is that a shot at Stephanie or the women in the WWE in general? Actually Stacy's been doing well without it... Well I do agree that Vince has a fascination with larger breasts, I'll defend the girls of the WWE in that their bodytype seems a lot healthier then the women we see on TV/Movies and especially models (runway or magazines)

Trish, Molly, Steph, Lita and Stacy (who's tall and thin but not sickly at all) all have realistic healthy looking bodytypes (even though Steph I think went a little overboard on the boobs) . Actually I'd rather have a little girl emulate Trish's body (worse she can do stuff her bra) then some runway model that looks like she has a diet that consists of one raisin per day... Just felt I had to defend the "WWE divas" =). Well got that off my chest on to the necrophiliac

As for the segment itself, I just saw it untill Trips grabbed the boob. And they cut away, I thought it was funny till then cause it was obviously Triple H doing a bad impression of Kane. But reading the spoilers it did seem like it went way too far, from funny to uncomfortable. And I for once was glad that it was edited out. (one of the few times I'm glad when the local station cut it out). I have to also give love to EXcalibur's idea, that would have been too funny seeing Ric Flair on screen for a second and quickly get out of camera range (ala Patterson opening the door during a Rock interview..lol) or even Triple H giving some pop culture reference that happened way after 1992. But WWE wouldn't use it cause it came from a wrestling fan, we know nothing.

I actually find this encouraging. Sid may have retired, but we've got another big, awkward guy who isn't quite all there to fill his boots, and all is right with the world.
