...why is it that HHH is the one who gets booked into the most absolutely horrid angles. I mean, JR actually reminded viewers of the Mae Young Pregnancy as a comparison to how bad the current HHH/Kane storyline is. Previously, HHH was booked into a feud where he was pissed over a dog, and dropped that title a month later to an aged Hulk Hogan. His "World Title" matches have been stuck in the middle of the PPV lineup for the last three months. If you think about it, the Trish/Victoria women's title match was the actual Raw main event, since it was the last event from the Raw roster to be seen at No Mercy.

I honestly have to wonder if HHH really has as much pull as everyone says, if he keeps getting plugged right into the worst crap on the show.

I think we give Triple H way too much credit these days. I think he's still trying to master the whole "Poochie" thing, but he's not quite there yet. Like I said in another thread, you never saw Kevin Nash humping corpses in his heyday.

"See Nash, you can wear any Halloween costume you want to, but you know and I know that you're only half the man that I am - and I have half the brain that you do."

Maybe Steph tries to have it both ways? Book HHH as the focal point of RAW to piss off the smarts but book him in such WrestleCrap that the average mark would never believe he had any pull backstage whatsoever?

This is what I have been saying for a while now..
HHH's face run was totally destroyed by the Steph/Lucy angle.
If it wasn't for pedigreeing her, even less people would have cared.

But perhaps the reason is that they believe that the only ones who should do a soap opera are the uppercarders cos that the only ones the crowd (is supposed) to care about?

I think they book Teo in bad angles on purpose, as a way of saying to us, "Fuck you, we're going to let Teo do whatever the hell he wants and you can't do a thing to stop it..."

...you do realize how absurd that sounds, right? Booking so that the typical fans don't think he has pull? Why would anyone care about that?

Is this the same guy that couldn't beat a "cripple" who was out four-plus years, has constantly needed Flair's help and the use of the sledgehammer over the past few months, had trouble with guys like Spike and Jeff Hardy who aren't seen as anywhere near his level, and got cleared out of the ring by Hurricane Helms in the opening segment last night?

The guy whose three major in-ring encounters with RVD have gone like this?:

1) Five-star splash, pin.
2) Five-star splash, ref down, Flair sledghammers RVD to give HHH the win.
3) Five-star splash, ref distracted, Flair hits RVD with the belt to give HHH the win.

Wait.........

You haven't figured out yet, why Triple H is involved in the WWE's biggest angle right now? You say if he had any true political clout, then he *WOULDN'T* be involved in this crap??!?!

Hello?

He's in this angle because it is the WWE's BIGGEST ANGLE!!

It's their sole attempt right now to get high-profile attention from the media. Hell, they're even comparing themselves to CSI, Six Feet Under, and X-Files (all shows that have won and been nominated for Emmy's - keep dreaming, Vince...).

This angle is Vince's way of saying to the world, "Hey, remember me?! I'm still here. My wrestling company is over here, you know... don't watch football, my show will be getting more press than football real soon because of this angle!!! C'mon, please pay attention to me!! I can do what CSI can do! I'll do it better and you'll love it because EVERYBODY loves wrestling!!!"

Hmmmm. Trips has a knack for trying to be involved in the big angles these days. (save for the gay marriage angle, which didn't have room or reason for Trips to be involved)

And you question why he's allowing himself to be put into this angle?!

Perhaps you missed something or haven't been following. I dunno. But either way, Vince is probably hoping this angle helps pull the company back into some bigger ratings, through media coverage (which I doubt he'll get much of, if any). I mean, how crass is it to have to compare YOURSELF to television shows that are widely-accepted as great? I think Vince realizes his wrestling shows won't ever be compared by the media to CSI, so he tries to be the media himself. Especially since he's already managed to forcibly shut up the PTC with the settlement in court.

Of course Trips would want to be the guy who is in this angle. This way, if the ratings stay the same, then big deal. But if the ratings go UP.... well, then he's the guy who can say to the guys in the back, "I saved this company, what have you done lately?"

The reason is simple. HHH is on top and he has no idea where to go now.

He has the power of being in the McMahon family, and there's really nothing anyone can do to stop him, but now that he has this power, he has no idea what to do with it.

It doesn't help that his main source of political clout is Stephanie McMahon, who is an absolutely horrible writer who comes up with the worst ideas. Week by week, she seems to piss away her father's legacy. And her grandfather's, I guess.

And, in WWE, we have that situation where everyone is writing to please the head writer, so nobody is bothering to question these stupid angles. HHH just isn't all that creative or ambitious to do anything more than what he's already doing, which is why he holds so many people down. He knows that other people can do it better, and so does Stephanie.

Nash came up with some pretty bad ideas involving feces while he was on top, but at least didn't have to put up with a woman. This will ultimately be HHH's downfall.

Unfortunately, it may be our downfall, too.

My question is- why can't the Raw main event feud be about, I don't know, THE TITLE, and save the soap opera angles for the undercard. Might work out a lot better- I mean the whole Hurricane/Nidia/Noble feud was really soap opera, and it worked on a lot of levels.

Sorry, I didn't get what I meant to say across. I'm still not sure how to say it. Piss us off by making him the focal point of RAW then piss us off even more by making sure he's in crappy angles to boot. I would probably not mind HHH as much if he was involved in the top angle AND it was actually a decent angle. I still might not have gotten across what I meant, though. Does anyone else understand my mind (and Lord help you if you do ) ?

Did you actually see the Jeff Hardy match? Because all I saw was HHH shitting all over Jeff's offense. First, RVD beats the bloody hell out of HHH, then Jeff (sort of) hits all of his spots on him including the Twist of Fate and Swanton, and Jeff still couldn't pin him. Then out of nowhere, after having no offense in the match, He beats Jeff with his secondary finisher. If anything, that match served to solidify the argument against HHH, as he basically made Jeff look like crap, and didn't sell for him at all. Sorry to be rude, but that match pissed me off so much.

Okay, the Jeff Hardy match was a bad example, especially since you can attribute Hardy's control of the match to RVD's pre-match attack...

Still, that was one of the few times in recent months when he actually HAS been booked to look strong in the ring.

As far as why Triple H would be involved in such garbage while having such clout, I've always assumed that he's using the logic of:
"Well, it's better to be standing on top of a pile of shit then to be buried in the middle of it"

I don't know. In that tag match last year, HHH was selling The Walls like he had just sheared the muscle in his from the bone.

Arite let me try to post without getting hammered by somebody.....

Maybe I'm missing something, but Triple H didn't hold the title from June 2000 until March 2002. And even then, he dropped it to Hogan a month later. Now, OK, granted he was the biggest heel during that time, and he was out with the quad thing....but if he was the true master of all that is unholy and evil, especially considering that was during the time he was starting up with Stephanie, why did he not hold the title for such a long time? (And yes, I remember the McMahon-Helmsley era...but why didn't it last longer?)

Because when he came back he was the babyface, and they built the feud to go to Wrestlemania.

-Jag

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.
