After reading the recaps of this show, I'm so glad I messed up on programming my VCR to tape this. This Bruins fan found the game at the ACC far more fulfilling. I did tune in time for the trios match, but HHH emerging from the truck with a tape was enough for me to call it a night.

I also profusely apologize to eveyrbody for making reference to Jimmy Cross' "I Want My Baby Back" last week, in the extremely minute chance the song and the plot thereof leaked to the person behind this angle.

I live in Canada, so happily, I got the TSN edit. Of course, despite the blowout, I switched to the Monday Night football game permanently (while flipping to a Simpsons rerun) as soon as TSN cut to THE LONGEST COMMERCIAL BREAK EVER (well, it probably was...) during the videotape.

You're out of your MIND. Someone else mentioned Saturday Night Live, and they beat me to the reference. This is one reason why I stopped watching SNL years ago -- they'd start a skit with an unfunny premise, I'd go off to the kitchen to make a sandwich, pour a drink, go down the hall to the can, check my email, then come back and the skit would STILL BE GOING, searching desperately for a successful punchline. At least on SNL, they didn't have Jerry Lawler TALKING about the unfunny skit during every other skit that night.

I started out excited to see Raw because I wanted them to set up new matches/angles for one of my favorite PPVs - Survivor Series. I didn't like the show.

The Triple H skit was kinda funny for the first three minutes. Then I put it on mute and read a newspaper. I would've turned it off, but I wanted to see the HBK interview.

I turned off Raw a couple months ago, and have been the happier for it. I think the difference between the Raw and Smackdown production staff is getting wider by the day.

Hrm, I guess I get off the hook then since I haven't ordered a PPV in around 2 years.

Monk Rocked by the way. Now I know what to watch from 10-11pm on Mondays...

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.

Time to weigh in on this one.(And I apologise in advance if I restate the obvious or comments already made, I've read many but not all posts here.)

Okay first off, the skit was dumb (And I live in Canada, only half payed attention, since it became very obvious what was going to occur, so apparently I missed the BIG ending I guess)and tasteless, but in my opinion no worse than some of the other crap they've aired in the past (In fact I dare say the cruxifiction fiasco or the attempted sacrifice of Austin were worse..but again, just my opinion), or some of the other things in the media (SHould we compare and debate the merits of one man riding a Mannequin vs a Highschooler enjoying a Hot apple Pie?)

The fact remains, regardless of how bad it is(And it was, but some found it funny), its best to look at the big picture, which I think most of us are missing, and no wonder since the WWE doesn't seem to be looking to the longterm as they once did.

Triple H had to fight Kane, and Kane looked very very impressive. H needed an edge, so he gets this info on Katie Vic to play with Kane's mind.
Its classic story telling, the hero wants to beat the villan, the villan resorts to some underhanded means to gain an advantage, discredit the hero, getothers to turn on him.
Now the problem is, this should all have lead up to the match (But then again how do you build it up in only a few weeks), but my guess is while the RAW guys wait to figure out who to sacrifice next to H's ego...I mean who gets the next title push....they intend to have another Kane Triple H match.

This Skit was done not to show Kane as a Ncrophile (Since it was so obvious it was H in that video), there was no Necrophilia on the show, but for H to ridicule and insult Kane (By simulating Necrophilia). From a story telling standpoint, H should have dragged it on for a few weeks, saying he had this tape (But be a little vague oon the details since it wasn't actually of Kane, and odds are he would remember not having done this), tormenting Kane, teasing that he'd play it (Sure he didn't do it, by the more vague he is the more likely Kane would be worried H did have something that could be bad, or at least misinterpretted), then at the PPV use it to distract Kane allowing H to score a final victory, and relegating Kane back to JTTS Mid Card Status.

Obviously they wanted a reason to prolong this feud even though it seems incredibly flawed (Since Kane lost wanted payback, where Triple H should have wanted no part of Kane now) and would work better if Kane had won at No Mercy.

I feel the whole storyline is poorly done, (Oh what a shock) which is likely a symptom of various problems(Writers phoning this crap in, lack of drive...a result of no competition in the industry, and not properly developing other wrestlers to be credible challengers to the top belt, leading to the last minute decision "Oh hey how about..HIM". Remember it was poor, or non-existent planning that lead to such world Champions as David Arquette and Vince Russo)
Long and the short of it is, like it or not, we're all talking about it.
As for Lawler, the less said about this 50 year old adolecent the better.
As for JR, he was funny (With the "That never works Flair, not in 20 years"comment)
And as to the SNL Question.
Early 90s (Or possibly late 80s) was when they did the commercial for a funeral home which guarenteed staff would show love, caring and absolutely no sex with the deceased (THose who did could be suspended without pay or even fired) Phil Hartman narrated (Talking as if this sort of thing was a very common problem in other funeral homes) and Mike Myers was one of the employees who tried to mount a ...client. The skit actually seemed funny at the time (Taking into Account I was likely in Highschool, and perhaps a bit stupid, and if memory serves they played it late in the show so I woulda been half asleep as well)

I have a friend (not me, I swear) who used to be the biggest WW(F/E) fan I know. Two years ago, he went to *19* separate live events, including the Rumble, Survivor Series, WM, Invasion, etc. He went to RAW on Monday, and he told me he's done. He's not watching anymore. When you're able to piss off that hardcore of a fan by all the crap lately, they're really doing something wrong.

He told me that, during the playing of the tape, he saw JR with his head in his hands, looking downward, shaking his head, as if he couldn't even stand to watch what was going on. If that doesn't tell you something, I don't knowwhat will.

There was a time my Mondays were filled with long work days so I can watch RAW. Now I don't care. I laughed at the HHH thing last night but man, that whole having sex with a dead body/doll/mannequin is just freaking retarded. I dont watch with anticipation anymore...hell, ive missed the last 2 PPVs because of that...and i missed a bloodbath!!!!!! story of my life

This week?

Flipped back and forth to other things during commercial breaks, but turned it off at 11:05.

The only time in recent memory that I threw up my hands, screamed "f**k this!" (Triple HGH's "bonin in the boneyard" aside--with apologies to all the Fishbone fans out there) and turned the set off was about 9:40 PM E.S.T. Monday June 24, 2002, RAW from Cleveland.

I didn't turn it back on until Monday, July 8th.

Basically, I watch RAW to see the people I enjoy. Ditto for SmackDown, although--and I know this puts me in the minority, even though my rational monkey brain knows that, in terms of technical wrestling, they're doing a first rate job of making RAW their bitch--I don't cry croccodile tears if I miss an episode.

Now, if I just didn't have to sit through Heat with the sound off to keep my head from exploding........

Right. I'll probably spend this weekend watching me some old Jim Crockett Promotions tapes. That relieves the stress.
