Interesting. A good point. Whatever, I hate that lady now. It would be nice to see Jack get to do some real ass-kicking CTU agent work, but it is a little hard with all this damn kidnapping, fugitivity, CTU agent's suicide, and waitress-tattling. Ok, so I made up "fugitivity".

What I'd like to know is...how would Maureen Kingsley have found the time to break the story about Palmer when she should be talking about that plane that blew up 9 hours ago?

I thought the cool thing was that not only does she have a show on in the Early AM (that'd be 3-4a EST) but she also has a noon show. Uncommon talent, I wonder when she sleeps.

I betcha she'll have a Prime Time show too!

I thought it was interesting that Jack was falling asleep. He has to be exhausted, having not slept at all in like 24 hours, plus running around killing people all day. I guess the show would be pretty boring if the characters were sleeping, but basically all of them probably need it. Palmer, Nina, Tony, Jack. I bet they don't sleep much this day, though. Maybe they will sleep on "48".

I think she tried *69 just before she said "It's BLOCKED!!" but yeah, I thought the same thing, too. They sure seemed to be able to track LOTS of stuff during the midnight hour...

There's something else about this that is irritating the hell out of me (because this show makes me *think* and stuff), which is how in the world does Mrs. 24 know all those numbers at the CTU? I'm pretty sure she called Nina's cel phone directly, right? Either way, I don't even have my OWN co-workers' phone numbers memorized, so I can't imagine how she was able to just pluck her husband's co-workers' numbers out of thin air. Let alone that 24 works for some kind of top-secret security wing-ding where you'd have to think that people wouldn't exactly want their phone numbers being bandied about, PLUS that Nina was sleeping with her husband (who, as you may remember , is 24).

Maybe Mrs. 24 and Nina are actually SUPER-PALS or something, but I doubt it.

Nina and Mrs. 24 have talked twice so far - the time when Nina wanted to let 24 know who the dead body was but couldn't find him -

Digression: Wasn't it Jamie who figured out to check the artifical hip's (or whatever) serial code to figure out who it was? I guess she didn't know that part of the plan was going on? (or whoever wrote it hadn't figured out that she was in out yet)

- and in the first hour or so when Mrs. 24 tried to reach Jack and got Nina to find her daughter's password.

So maybe the call got forwarded again? I dunno.

So...what is wrong with Teri? What was with that face she made at the end? I am glad to see Jack is actually starting to kicking ass again. How quick did they get a new director for CTU? An hour? Why didn't they just promote Nina? And what is with the Cofell guy? What is the guy on the plane's "personal" problem with Palmer? Do I have any more questions?

>So...what is wrong with Teri?

Dramatic Internal Bleeding! Oh wow, if this thread was on Seadawg's board, I bet someone could write a story explaining this situation in great detail.

>What was with that face she made at the end?

Acting! Well, I guess.

>I am glad to see Jack is actually starting to kicking ass >again.

The driving segment was more than made up for with the sneaky kidnapping segment.

>How quick did they get a new director for CTU? An hour?

I'd bet they've been working on this since that Lockdown - what was that, 2, 3AM?

>Why didn't they just promote Nina?

Don't trust her - apparently everyone (but Jack's daughter) knew about Nina and Jack.

>And what is with the Cofell guy?

Watch next week to find out!

>What is the guy on the plane's "personal" problem with Palmer?

My initial guess was the same as quagmire - Palmer's son killed his son. But this is an awful lot of work just for that.

Maybe he's just a nutso white supramicst?

>Do I have any more questions?

Why isn't the plane crash the top story on the radio news? (I think they brought it back up last week to show that they remember it.)

What happened to the dramatic call to Jamey's handheld at the end of last episode?

Why did Jack look so dang cool in those glasses at the end of the episode?

There's a nice article about 24 over on Salon, but it's got a pretty spoiler on something you didn't mention and I'm too lazy too link it. One of the intersting things is that they booked (er, WROTE) the first 8 hours as one chapter, so I guess we're into chapter 2?

Now that was a good answer to all my questions. Thanks, cubsfan. I really don't know why the plane crash isn't a huge story on the news. I guess an attempt on the life of a presidential candidate would be pretty big, too. Do you think they would really let him go to the school and make his appearances with a fugitive that suppsedly shot at him on the loose?

So...what is wrong with Teri?
Dramatic Internal Bleeding!

See, I think they're leaving the possibility open for her to have Inoperable Ovarian Cancer or some such nonsense, which means she's dying, so if the time comes for making Sophie's Choice over which member of 24's family gets killed, she'll be the one to go 'cause she's gonna be dead soon anyway.

Also, we didn't overhear the clinic calling Soul Patch about Jamey's apparent death, right? So he could be covering up that she's actually still alive. I'm not saying he IS another mole, but if it becomes convenient for plot development down the line, they can make him one, just like if Inoperable Ovarian Cancer would make for a convienient plot development regarding Mrs. 24.

If the writers really *haven't* thought this thing through to the very end like they say (and which I have my doubts about), at least they're doing a decent (if obvious) job of planting cheap ways to paint themselves out of corners.

When they were showing the "previously on..." beginning yesterday, I couldn't help but wonder one thing...

What does Jamey's blade job rate on the Muta scale?

LOVED the split-screen with 24 running down the stairs as Investment Banker Boy waited for the elevator to start.

Jamey's 'blade job' was nasty. gore gore gore!

And how about that stupid bitch tattling on Jack. He could have helped her with her DUI.

Trivia note of possible interest: the "bitch" (Kathleen Wilhoite) also played Double-Deuce waitress Carrie-Anne in the Patrick Swayze action-packed dramatic triumph "Road House", featuring most-excellent covers by the Jeff Healy Band. She was the one who was nice enough to bring Dalton breakfast so she could watch him get out of bed.

The whole "maybe Jack's gone off the deep end here and he's an attacking innoncent people - hey, when did you learn Slovak?" bit was pretty good, though the sudden death was annoying.

Nice return of a guest villian I'd forgetton about, though. Taking care of loose ends is nice.

The Senator Palmer bit is slow slow slow, and why didn't Jack think of whatever connection (two years ago in Kosovo) back at, I dunno, midnight? Because they didn't write that yet, I guess.

The mother and daughter, eh. CTU, eh. The Jack stuff was cool but I can't remember much else as really good. The conversation where Palmer and his wife were pretending to have a nice happy conversation but weren't all was kinda nice.

I wish they didn't show so much in the preview for next week. It already looks like Jack is going to save his family. He did pull a sweet move when Kevin Carroll got in the car. Didn't even flinch when he started shooting. I also wondered why Jack didn't think of a connection to Palmer right away. I hope they start explaining the story with him and Palmer and Kosovo and whatever. And you're right about the Palmer storyline being slow.

It felt like ALL of last night's show was slow, right up until the Folger's coffee guy (who isn't really the Folger's coffee guy, I know) got into the car with the dead body. Pretty dead hour.

I forgot to say last week how psyched I was to see Zeljko Ivanek, so I'll say it this week. I just wish I could put that check mark over his name like in the HOMICIDE credits! ;-)

Let's see if I can get all the people who have died on the show so far. First off, there are about 150 people in the plane crash. We didn't really know any of them except the photgrapher. Then there is Janet York, Alan York, the lady cop, Rick's friend, Ted Cofell, the two CIA agents or whatever they were that Jack killed at the beginning, Walsh, the guy who gave him the keycard, and Jamey. So that is 11 people whose names we knew and about 10 more or whatever was on the plane. All in 11 hours. And plenty more to come!

What about the goon who got killed at the end of the episode?

They spend so much time talking about the rapist getting killed that he almost should count.

You know how we were talking about them writing this 8 hours at a time? Just reading last week's recap on MBTV (they make me feel good about fooling around) of the first episode of the second part (the second 8 hours) and probably not concidentally, the first time they brought up the whole "Kiefer's mission two years ago that we're afriad of talking about."

So I guess they really do write it like that, and maybe we shouldn't be expecting them to pick up loose ends from previous times? But then not-Alan York and all, so I dunno. Just intersting, at any rate.

Hahaha, writings storylines over 8 shows, why does that sound familiar.

The thing about NASCAR is that if you only watch the Sportscenter hilights, all you see is a wreck or two, somebody getting passed, and the finish. But, if you watch it on FOX (whose coverage is about 100 times better than NBC)
