Speaking of Tempest reminded me of GYRUSS! I used to love that game. The laundrymat in my neighborhood had Gyruss, Dig Dug, and Zaxxon side by side. I would blow my whole allowance on one Saturday morning.

There was a game that I loved on Colecovision that I think was called Mouse Trap? ANyway, I remember playing that game until the score went all the way to the maximum amount of points and then started over at 0.

Dude, Rygar kicks ass. I picked up that game used somewhere without instructions, so I had no idea what they storyline was, but I played that game for hours and hours.

That was one of the first ROMS I snagged when I got into emulation for a brief while.

Nobody's mentioned Pitfall yet?!
How about Barnstormer for the Atari? You literally had to fly through barns.
And Bionic Commando for Nintendo.

Classics That I loved:
Atari 2600:
1. Bezerk
2. MegaMania
3. Combat
4. Smurfs
5. Freeway
6. Stampede

NES:
1. Tecmo Bowl (Bo Jackson = Unstoppable)
2. Zelda
3. Mario 3
4. Track and Field for the Power Pad (hand bashing that thing ruled)
5. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out
6. Kung-Fu
7. Metroid
8. Hogans Alley

SNES:
1. Super Mario World
2. Super Metroid
3. Link to The Past
4. Super Street Fighter
5. Super Mario Kart
6. Sim City
7. F-Zero

Genesis:
1. any EA NHL game
2. any Sonic

Playstation:
1. PepsiMan (Import game I got in Korea)
2. Risk ( have 6 buddies and 16 hours to kill, this is the game,LOL)
3. any EA sports NCAA football

Gameboy(All Versions)
1. Tetris
2. Donkey Kong
3. Any Pokemon
4. Mario Kart Super Circuit
5. Wario Land 4

N64
1. Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 (the only thing I have for this system)

Arcade:
1. The Simpsons (The only Simpsons Video game that was any good)
2. Area 51 ( I pumped 10 dollars of quarters into this game one night in Korea)
3. South Park pinball machine (The most fun I ever had with pinball, and I'm I pinball freak)
4. Arcade Basketball
5. Skeeball

I'm not into any of the new systems due to my hatred of Joy Sticks and being too old school to get used to 3D surroundings in games. As you can also tell that I was never a RPG kind of guy cause I don't like to have to spend days trying to get a fraction of the way through a game, plus I'm not a mythology guy so the premise of most RPG's never appealled to me.

Man, I totaly forgot to put Bezerk! ::hits himself in the head!!::

Got so busy thinking of old arcade games I forgot about some of my favs form the Atari 2600. That was a kick ass system: Berzerk, Mrs. Pacman, Frogger, Pitfall, Combat Centipede! total old school goodness! And the list just keeps on going..

We'll for get about E.T. for the sake of the innocent.

Has there ever been a better video game plot/concept than that of Bionic Commando for the NES? Your character, Bionic Commando, is this government super soldier who wears sunglasses and has a giant extending metallic arm who is sent into hostile countries to save another government super soldier, possibly the only one with a better secret government codename, Super Joe. And then what do you have to do? Well, you have to fight Hitler's Brain. Which is inside of a giant robot.

A little-known (at least, I don't know anyone else who played it) NES game that I loved was Rescue: The Embassy Mission. The title implies that there were other rescue games, but I don't recall any. The game itself isn't anything special, as it's broken into three modes and the last and biggest is poorly done. But the middle mode, were you have to use snipers to shoot terrorists in windows, then have other guys climb down the side of the building and dive through, is pretty cool.

The first stage is the best, though, where you have to get the four snipers into position. It's just running from left to right, avoiding searchlights (or being shot to death immediately if you get caught). All you can do is tuck and roll or drop to the ground and crawl. And yet, it never stopped being fun getting them to their marks. And the song on that stage is one of the best NES songs I can remember, allowing that all NES music was weird.

I would have to agree with that one. Neal Anderson was the best player ever on there. Also, Bo Jackson, Warren Moon and the run-and-shoot, and Barry Sanders were pretty good too. I loved that game.

The smurfs for atari 2600 was the first video game I ever played (damn that Gargamel)...

I literally wasted years of my childhood trying to do the 99 extra lives thing on Mario with the turtle shell on the steps...still never worked for me.

Strider, Double Dragon, Kung Fu, and Castlevania were my personal favs for old school Nintendo (how did we manage with only two buttons?)

That's funny! I just got Nester on my Dreamcast and the first thing I tried to do was warp to the minus worlds on Super Mario Brothers... I'm still really bad at doing it.

I don't have the patience to keep playing 1-2 to try to do it.

The infinite (till you roll over the memory in the NES - which is bad, mmkay?) lives trick was super easy once you did it once. You just stand about 1 mario shoe away from the side and time it... jump straight up and down or else you are fried.

I finished Super Mario 1 ONCE. Then I got the "improved world" for awhile afterward and ran right up to the end again, only to mistime a jump before the last Koopa. Argh!

I might have missed it, but didn't anyone mention Castlevania for NES? That game is pure ownage! I still have trouble fighting The Grim Reaper now, and I'm one of the best videogame players there is.

And speaking of Bionic Commando, that game has to be the only Nintendo game to ever have a "curse word" in it. At the end when you jump down and shoot Hitler in the face with a rocket launcher and blow his head off he does his best Faarooq impression, "...Damn"

For all you other Mac folks out there, Dark Castle was the coolest old games out there. I think they re-released it lately too.

I loved Super Dodge Ball so much that I actually bought a GBA just to play SDB Advance. Though I've gotta say that the MegaMan RPG and Fire Pro are pretty fun too.

But my favorite Nintendo game HAS to be River City Ransom...Just classic.

Just wanted to throw down that my girfriend and I just finished watching the first season, and I am completely blown away. I've watched seasons 2, and 3, and this was her intro to the series. I urge all of you to pick up this show.
