Hey...jackass...I'm talking to YOU. When you defend a certain point of view, you ask for it. Plain and simple. These are the rules of the roost. And incidentally, I don't even want to here you bitching about people who make snap judgments(Pot, Kettle, Black?)

People can define success any which way they want. But you and your Christian Socialism want to dictate success to everybody under its thumb. That doesn't work...

No! Wrong!

I've mentioned only theory here, I haven't asked for signatures, I haven't claimed that I think this is the way things should be, I never said this is the best of possible worlds, I have made no statement that this is how I believe, period.

Another thread asked how Al Qaeda could justify hatred against the US. I suggested that they felt justified because of US support of Israel. This *does not* mean I think this is a *good* reason!!! But I know, in their minds, that they see this as one facet of their screwy notion of justification. I don't!!! It is possible to do that.

You went to College, right? You've read a few books. Authors the world over can write books discussing differing points of view and, guess what, this does not mean that the subject of their book is how they live their lives. For instance it is possible for an atheist to write a nuetral book on religion and vice versa.

All I have said is this:

"Group A believes B is ok because of C."

You and others have responded to me like so:

"You think believing B is right?! You moron!!!"

Once again, I am NOT responsible to spoon feed a post to you.

Your words, not mine.

You statement that authorts do not live this way is a red herring distracting the argument from the fact that in the above statement you are stating for the record that you have found that being a socialist is defendable, implying that this is the way you wish to live your lifestyle.

Do you have anything substantive?

"...stating for the record..."

Hold on, let me get this one out of my system first...

Ok, your Honor, assuming the 1st District Court of Wienerville is ready, I know that am ready to proceed.

Ok. Much better...

Please put the serious pipe down. This is a message board. It's not even a drop in the bucket. In a perfect world we could discuss these things in an even keel. Often we digress. I know I can be guilty of that sometimes just as everyone else. Keep your mind in perspective at all times please. Wienerville is no longer responsible for lost or stolen dignity.

I have *found* that being a Libertarian is defendable. It is hard to disagree with the statement "What's mine is mine. I earned it by hard work and you have no right to tell me what I do with it." That's a good argument. It doesn't mean I agree with it or choose to live my life that way.

I have *found* that belief in God is defendable. People who have deep faith and who know that they have a relationship with God paint a pleasant picture. It's also hard to fathom how else we could have gottern here, save an omnipitent being of great power. It's a compelling, interesting argument. It doesn't mean I agree with it or choose to live my life that way.

I have *found* that an attack on Iraq is defendable. Saddam Hussein is a backstabber, an agressor, and above all a potential threat to the US and our allies. As of now it is most certain that he has a full five fingers dipped in terrorism and with just a few years he could have the bomb. To let even a few more months pass without action gives him more time. Time to hide material. Time to form secret deals. Time to survive. The world would be a better place without him. It doesn't mean I agree with it.

Now, take my quote you posted above:

"I've found that being a liberal/leftist, or more specifically, a socialist, is a very defendable political stance to take... if one is a Christian."

No commitments made here.

Compare it with this:

"Being a liberal/leftist, or more specifically, a socialist, is a very defendable political stance to take... as I am a Christian."

Had I written this I could understand the reactions I've been getting. The argument 'You wrote it therefore we just assume you agree with it 100%!' is a poor one and is in total disregard to how posting and writing in general, works. For instance, In the thread titled "Most Dangerous Animal in the USA" you replied with humorous intent with:

"Of course we can't kill Bambi because that's EVIL."

Just a few posts down whiteoutaddict replied to that comment with this:

"No, it's not. I deer hunt all the time. I killed a 170 lbs. buck last monday. It's actually quite fun. And tasty too :)"

So are we all to assume that that's what you believe? Of course not! Give me the same credit.

Amen! Almost all of my friends here are liberals. Certainly not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned, but talking about politics can get a little sticky. I usually just shut up when the conversation turns that way, as it doesn't seem worth the hassle to start a huge debate, say, right in the Dining Common. Most of my friends know I'm conservative and don't get into big discussions usually. When they do, I just let em rant until they're spent and turn the conversation to something else. (You'd be surprised how short political discussions can be if one-sided )

In a post in the protest thread, Moe referred to himself as an urbanist. I've never heard this particular term before and was wondering if someone could explain it to me.
