Raw did air in the Cox Cable area of Baton Rouge and New Orleans but was supposively Blacked Out in some areas of South Louisiana. Now 411wrestling says that people were comlpaining about the nature of the show so an unknown cable company pulled the plug?

The only thing I could come up with was that some areas of South Louisiana were still out of Cable due to the Canes last week.

Hopefully I can find a clarification on this.

Why do I have a feeling this is a followup to the bogus, "How dare the WWE use a person called The Hurricane!" story from a week or so ago?

-Jag

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.

Raw blacked out in South Louisiana due to "moral complaints"

By Wade Keller, Torch editor
Oct 8, 2002, 12:13pm

Spillway Cable in South Louisiana blacked out Raw last night due to "moral complaints" from customers (who's remote controls apparently are stuck on TNN). Star Trek TNG aired, then the screen went blank for 2 hours, 13 minutes, then CSI came on. The cable company admitted they made the "moral" choice to black out the show.

The cable system did not specify whether it was the Hot Lesbian Action, the gambling, the Hos, lewd fan signs, suggestive comments about a 50-plus year old commentator liking young girls, women paddling each other's nearly bare asses, a "Panties on a Pole" match, or just the general violence of men flying off ladders onto each other.

DirecTV and Echostar should brace themselves for a number of phone calls from upset wrestling fans today ordering satellite service
*****

LIving in Canada I am all to used to censoring but an all and all blackout. WOW. I'm sure your going to have many pissed off people. I'll actually would make a huge stink of it and not pay my bill. I pay for cable and you block out a show?

Areas that felt the effects of the blackout, LAROSE and Boutte. It is deep in the Bayou about 30 to 40 miles from New Orleans.

i don't know about LA, but in Maryland, Comcast enjoys a monopoly in most areas...so ya, most people will have to jump to directv to avoid any more religious blackouts...

I know I'm about to offend a few people, but it must be said...

How dare they black out RAW in Louisiana due to moral/religious reasons (presumably from the Catholics) when these are the same people who invented Mardi Gras-- an excuse to have all the drinking and debauchery and other offbeat shenanigans one can handle.

Well, that's becau---

On second thought, I don't really have to detail my opinion about this, do I?

This angle, which has gone from being a "clean" wrestling match to an all-out unsanctioned street fight for bloody revenge is apparently sponsored by the book of Joshua.

I grew up there, and believe me - it gets a whole lot odder than that.

Go Cajuns.

I watched it in Baton Rouge with no problem. I was let down when my namesake did not turn up on the "raw roulette wheel."

Just reading this the only thought I have is, can they do that? I mean, if someone forced the issue, even up to suing them or something, wouldn't the cable company lose? I don't know a lot about the situation, but it just sounds like something a cable company could get in hot water over. I mean, if TNN cared enough, could they get mad about this? I'm sure there's some kind of agreement between TNN and the cable company and I'd be surprised if TNN would be giving contracts that allows the cable company to not show some of the programming (especially their highest rated show.) Anyway, I'm rambling at this point, anybody able to shed more light on this?

All I can say is I got two words for ya: BIBLE BELT!
People in this area actually believed God made the world in six days, and put two white people on it to found the human race. They don't believe in evolution (something even Jesse Jackson has acknowledged and accepted). Now I'm not without my spiritual side, but people with these beliefs are quite simply retarded. And think about what retarded means: slowed. They are thinking like it's two hundred years ago and we didn't know any better.

So if they don't want to watch RAW which, in all fairness, sometimes becomes soft porn passed off as "entertainment", they won't be consulting mother networks. They'll just react the way King David would have, picking up the stone and firing at the giant.

That really happened, by the way.

On Thursday morning I was watching CNN. And they were talking about an NBC affiliate in Utah blacking out Jay Leno the night before because he had the puppetry of the penis guys on. (I actually was asked by someone if I wanted to check it out when they were in town, I politely said no) The could make their penis into different shapes. I don't watch Leno and I highly doubt they demonstrated but it was blacked out in Utah anyways.

CNN studio hosts were talking to some wacky morning radio show hosts from Utah and they said the same NBC affiliate hasn't shown Saturday Night Live in years, but the WB affiliate picks it up.

So it has been done by individual affiliates, there was of course the running joke on Conan that he gets on in Houston at 3:30 am... But I've never heard of a cable company blocking out a Cable Show. This sounds really odd.

I went from Cajun country to nearby Houston in time for the Conan debacle. Turns out Houstonians just had to have their Jerry Springer. And technically, it's not Bible belt down there (in South Louisiana). Too die-hard Catholic for that, but still churchy as can be.

It's damn early; I'm about to catch a plane back to New Orleans now. If only Vince would bring bash Lash LeRoux and give the coonasses somebody to really get behind.....

I believe, if you're bored excited! enough to go thru the archives, they showed a video package of the title change either the next RAW or the one after it.
