Let me just say Christopher Walken is the best, creepiest guy in the face of the earth.

BUT, if you are like me and you saw the crap that was called "The Country Bears" then that will totally ruin your opinion of him being god among men. That is the worst movie i have EVVVAAARRR seen. And I have seen Scooby Doo.

As for Jet Li (Lethal Weapon 4), the Emperor (Star Wars) and Saruman (fellowship of the rings), I considered the three of them too. But Saruman to me didn't seem like that big of a character, maybe he has a bigger part in the next two (i haven't read the next two books) but until then he's not on my list. Jet Li, again it was the speaking thing, although I guess that shouldn't really be a factor. Looking back I should have included Jet Li and the Emperor.
Because the Emperor was truly evil, plus he didn't do a face turn in the end like Vader. PLUS VAder had to answer to HIM! So that shows you he's pretty bad.

Darth Vader is the iconic representation of a movie villian. If he wasn't #1, it would've been an outrage. (And, as far as "lesser" Star Wars villians go - Boba Fett's got the following, and his dad was a bad motherfucker.)

Last night while watching the DVD rip of Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones, it occured to be how lame both Boba Fett and Jango Fett are. Basically the character's only redeeming quality is he's got a nifty looking suit. Other than that he's easily killed. Drop Boba into a pit, poof all set. A big battle breaks out? Well in less than two minutes Jango gets dragged around by some big animal and then gets his head cut off by Sam Jackson. Wow. What a badass that Jango is. So basically the Fetts are all style no substance. Sure Darth Vader started off as an annoying and whiny with two bad actors playing him, but eventually he got to be James Earl Jones and kill tons of people. The Fetts meantime come across as bumbling dolts, and the fact that the Stormtroopers are clones of them doesn't exactly help their case. (Stormtroopers, another case of cool uniforms, no real fighting ability.)

Found this online someplace, dont recall where. Makes perfect sense as to why Boba Fett is really a bitch, and not a true evil villian!

Uh, hate to burst your bubble dude, but Boba Fett isn't dead. He fell into the pit yes, but he escaped the pit and managed to cause much more trouble. There's a novel trilogy about him (although the second and third novels aren't very good) plus quite a few comics (of which I haven't read but have been assured they are good).

As for Stormtroopers, they DO have real fighting ability, it just isn't showcased well in the movies. Once again, I point to the novels as a source where Stormtroopers often own the place.

Side note about Palpatine; during the Battle at Endor he was co-ordinating the Empire's movement's with the darkside, giving them about 60% plus combat effectivness. Chalk up another one for him on the 'why isn't he on there?' section.

Yeah, and the sad part is those novels and comics are written by Boba Fett fans who WANT him to be a bad mother. Apparently, Lucas disagrees. I'll take his word for it.
On Storm Troopers - you've got to be kidding me. Those guys are such lousy shots they couldn't hit the broad side a barn with a bazooka. Of all the supposed incontinuities from the trilogy, that's the biggest to me - Jango is supposed to be BEST FIGHTER EVAR~! and meanwhile his clones totally suck as warriors.

Actually Parts Unknown, if you take Lucas' word for it, you'd be agreeing with me somewhat. The comics (and novels ) have to follow a set standard made by Lucas himself. The 'expanded universe' has to follow a certian continuity, established by Lucas and LFL. So if those things dipect Boba Fett in that manor.....

In regards to Stormtroopers, I thought in Episode I they aquitted themselves rather well. My own personal theory is that they gradually got worse with their aim and what ever in the original trilogy for the following reasons;

1) The clones grew too fast. There's a set standard for how long a clone is to be grown. if you grow one too quickly, then the mind warps slightly and the clone goes crazy (see Zahn's trilogy).

2) Given the skill involved, perhaps they thought they didn't need to train them as well. Especially given that sometimes Palpatine was co-ordinating them through the dark side.

3) They cloned a clone, instead of Fett after awhile.

Man, I feel like a geek right about now, LOl

Uh...everyone in the Star Wars Universe gets OWNED by the Jedi. Or the Sith. Boba & Jango Fett owned everyone who WASN'T Jedi or Sith. Stormtroopers own everyone who's just a civilian.

And I think we forget the one GLARING GLARING omission:

The Punisher - Frank Castle - Dolph Lundgren

The perfect bad anti-hero.

Can you dig it?

I think you can.

Uh no. Michael Douglas from Falling Down is the best Main Character Villain ever.

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.

Wow, I can't believe I overlooked William of Long Shanks. That dude was evil....how about, in the same vein, perhaps Emperor Commodus from Gladiator, Max Von Sydow in Strange Brew, Julia Roberts' husband in Sleeping With the Enemy, and the most evil evil evil person ever portrayed in a motion picture....

Douglas C. Niedermeyer!

Also, I don't know if there is anyone else on earth who knows this flick but if you get the chance to see World Gone Wild, Adam Ant of all people is a really good villian. Then again, I am a Michael Pare mark, and think that Willem Dafoe was a good villian in Streets of Fire

One more villain that popped into my head which I can't believe was omitted was Lena Olin in "Romeo Is Bleeding". She was the most horribly evil uber-bitch character I've ever seen. The scene of her and Gary Oldman where she gets him in the head scissors in the car....priceless.

Wait a minute, where the hell is Al Pacino in "The Godfather?" And if they're counting him as a face in that movie, then where the hell is Al Pacino in "The Godfather II?"

As for Jango Fett, it only took the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy to kill him. I mean, gee whiz, it's not like he jobbed to Salacious Crumb here.

EDIT: Good Lord Almighty, where the hell is Al Pacino in "Scarface?" Is this the "No Pacino" list or something?

And they counted Travis Bickle as a villian, so I know they're counting tweener protagonists.

Some other observations:

The Road Warrior - The (Lord) Humungus (Kjell Nilsson)
* No love for "the Ayatollah of rock and rollah"?

Robocop - Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith)
* Utterly cold-blooded. Who can watch Red Forman on "That 70's Show" and not think of Boddicker blowing Murphy's hand off with a shotgun? (Give the man a hand - dumbass!)

Batman Returns - Max Shreck (Christopher Walken)
* Darker here than as Max Zorin in "A View To A Kill".

Batman - The Joker (Jack Nicholson) (#16 on The List - thanks, Jaguar, I didn't see it)
* Every Batman villain has tried to outdo Uncle Jack's Joker. Only Walken's Shreck came close.

Lethal Weapon - Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey)
* Busey has a knack for psychopaths. He seems to be passing it on to his son, Jake (aka Joseph in "Contact" and soon to be The Hitcher in "The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting").

The Joker's #16 on that list.

I have no idea why Catwoman even made it on there. She wasn't really the villain of that movie.

On the other hand if you're talking about the kinda villiany that haunts your dreams for many nights to come, you just HAVE to recognise the sheer evil of Torgo, from "Manos: The Hands of Fate."

I was hoping that I was the only wretched soul that was condemned with the memory of Manos and Torgo. The sheer evil was neither of the villains, it was the film itself.

NOTABLE OMISSIONS: Buscemi, Storemare and Macy in "Fargo"; Walken in "The Deer Hunter"; Prison warden from "Cool Hand Luke"

The scary thing about Eckart in ITCOM is that you meet so many guys like that in real life.

My personal favorite villain is the title character in "The Giant Gila Monntser"

Come on Stephanie, I liked Walken in Batman Returns, but NOBODY matches the role that DeVito pulled off in that movie. Absolutely strange but so absolutely perfect. (The Penguin=A deformed boy who looks like a bird-man and is raised by circus penguins in a sewer! Perfect! Whoever wrote that deserved an Oscar IMHO.) In fact I would even say that DeVito's role almost matched the life that Nicholson brought to the first movie.

84 Graduate, The - Mrs. Robinson - Anne Bancroft

The Hell?

If this is villany, color me evil! Sure she gets all creepy towards the end, but I wouldn't call it villany. Bitchy maybe, but that his hardly villanous. In fact for most of the movie she just comes off as really bored, in a sultry kind of way.

I think it's sad that people are critiquing a COMEDY movie, made for LAUGHING AT, on the same basis that one would judge Les Miserables. I've enjoyed all 3 Austin Powers, they were hilarious, and I look forward to a fourth.
