The rules over the last 5 years or so have stated that the winner of the Rumble gets the title shot at Wrestlemania. What happens now that there's 2 shows and 2 different titles? Is there a mini-Rumble for each brand? Or will they have one Rumble in Jan. and one in Feb.? Then the titles are decided at WM? What a friggin headache. If they would have stuck to one undisputed champ(like when Rock had the title and had feuds with guys on *both* shows), things would have been *much* more simple. Of course, if the split leads to Uncle Eric welcoming us to "WWE Monday Night Nitro!", then all will be forgiven. And don't think that the writers(esp. Paul E.) aren't thinking about it. Any thoughts on what should be done about the Rumble?

Remember the simple thing we learned from the WWE search of last week: The WWE is only booking at most one week ahead. I'd be shocked if they knew how to book Survivor Series right now, let alone Rumble. Also remember, Uncle Eric is on a short term contract, who knows if he will sign and stay around through the Rumble.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

How about the winner gets a shot at their own brand's title. So if a Smackdown guy wins, he goes for the Smackdown title. If a RAW guy wins, he goes for the RAW title. It's not that complicated.

I don't know the details of his contract, of course, but I'm guessing he's getting paid quite a bit (considering the actual work he has to do) compared to what he'd get for anything else (considering his track record.) So (other than ego & ignorance) why would he not resign to a job that lets him parade half-naked lesbians around at no cost to himself? Sounds like the best job in the WWE, if you ask me, other than possibly sleeping with Stephanie to become world champion. (And face it, as much as people bag on HHH around here, how many of you would turn down a chance to be WWE champion just by sleeping with Steph?)

Hell I'd sleep with her even if it meant NO TITLE AT ALL!

sorry... couldn't resist.

Anyway, Maybe they'll just change the entire format of the rumble... The last couple of years have proven that the title shot is never set in stone beacause of the outcome of the Rumble.

That's it... and that's ALL.

They might search the web for ideas on the day of the show but I believe they DO think about the months ahead.
Its what they did when they announced the KotR title shot, its what they did when Rocky became champ, its what they did when they made Brock champ and did the #1 contenders match/Taker defection. And it is what they will do for the RUmble.
Everything in between is prolly not filled in, but I just have to believe they have an idea how to deal with that situation..

As suggested maybe if a SD guy wins it for the SD title AND it automatically becomes the main event with the other brands title being er...pre-main event?

We'll have to wait and see..

You have to admit, it's better than the days when you had to sleep with Pat Patterson.

How about, the winner gets a shot at both titles? A three way match with the person pinning someone or making them submit takes the loser's title. If a non-title holder pins someone, they get their title... If a title holder wins, it's unification. (And if the winner of the Royal Rumble has one of the titles by Wrestlemania, it's a straight up unification).

If there is one person holding both titles at the end of Wrestlemania, they can either end the split, or they can have that person be on both shows, defending the World Title against Raw challengers and the WWE title against SD challengers.

It's not so hard to think of ideas.

I like the idea of becoming a war between both shows, with the right to main event WrestleMania on the line. Fifteen RAW guys, fifteen SD! guys, all battling to win it so that THEIR world title match will be in the main event slot come March. It gives Bisch and Steph something to do, and the World champs can even get stuck in, seeing as their right to main event the biggest show of they year would also be on the line.

Don't forget, Stone Cold Steve Austin already entered himself in the Royal Rumble.

Also, I guess they would probably have 15 wrestlers from Raw and 15 wrestlers from Smackdown. The most obvivous thing is for there to be one Undisputed title in addition to the secondary titles. Maybe that will be setell in the Royal Rumble.

I think Ges has the theory worked out there that they'll probably go with.
That's if it'll even be viable by that point. I have a feeling that the whole "brand extension" idea may wind up meeting its end at Wrestlemania with it being whoever is 'World" Champion vs. WWE Champ in yet another unification match.

The reason I brought up Uncle Eric's contract is because who knows if he leaves to go work on the reality Kung-Fu type show he is developing. If Uncle Eric leaves, then the dueling GM angle dies a quick death, and wouldn't it be funny if Bischoff ended up having Vince build up this angle, only to walk away from it.

It wouldn't be that hard to simply say Steph beat Bischoff and bring in a new GM to challenge her. Paul Heyman, for instance.

I have to mention something that no one has yet. According to ovwrestling.com , among other sources, one OVW wrestler will participate in the Royal Rumble. So that's probably 15 Raw, 15 Smackdown, and the 1 OVW. Or something like that.

Here's what I'm hoping:

The winner of the Royal Rumble has a unification match:

The unified Intercontinental (WCW) World title and the Undiputed unified heavyweight title. What's the point of two world titles, anyway?

Oh, and the day Paul Heyman gets more TV time than he does is the day I stop watching WWe programming. he's a great booker, but I hate his voice and his promos.

They could also go back to the origins of the show where winning the Royal Rumble meant... you won the Royal Rumble. They should bring back all the old Rumble Winners just so we can see Hacksaw Jim Duggan in a WWE ring again.

Since the stipulation of the Rumble is that the winner gets a shot at the WWE Title, I would imagine that's the one. There is nothing in the Rumble about a 'world' title shot. I would suggest unification would happen at or before Wrestlemania (we've all heard inklings of **shudder** Triple H V.S. Brock at the Survivor Series). Either way, two major titles will not exist by that time. I think what they're really after with this two titles thing is something like what exists in boxing. There are two recognized major championships in boxing, and never an "undisputed" world champ. But there are no secondary titles like the IC is.

Actually, there are 3 major titles in boxing and if someone holds all 3 (IBF, WBA and WBO I believe), they're considered the undisputed champion. There are also plenty of secondary titles as well. There are 3 sanctioning bodies that are considered world titles but are a step below the big three. These are the WBF, IBA and WBC (I think) and could be likened to the IC/US title. There are also smaller organizations such as the USBA and NABF in America (and presumably others in other countries) that could be likened to the European/TV title.

In other words, Boxing titles are even more convoluted than the WWE's titles but at least boxing has the excuse of multiple organizations offering championships and a boxer not actually competing for an individual organization. The WWE intentionally convuluted their titles for no apparent reason.

They could always have the last wrestler from Raw get a World Title shot and the last wrestler from Smackdown get a WWE Title shot. But having two winners seems kinda anti-climactic.

Or they could do like the old Battlebowl battle royals: two seperate battle royals, and the last guy in both rings go at it to determine the winner. This time around, there'd be 15 Raw guys in one ring, and 15 Smackdown guys in the other. The last guy in either ring get a shot at the title from their respective shows, and the final winner gets to go to the main event at Wrestlemania.

I was just going to point that out. It's been on my mind since we discussed it a couple of weeks ago.

I (seriously, no joke) believe Austin will return and win it., going on to win the title at WM19.
