That Paul Heyman...what a nut! I can't believe he actually had the idea to propose Brock Lesnar defend the title against Chris Benoit at No Mercy. I mean, OF COURSE he'd get shot down by the rest of the WWE brass. That's so CRAZY! I mean, that Benoit...he's not a HOSS like Undertaker! Undertaker's big and Benoit is small, therefore Undertaker's cool and Benoit sucks! Really! No sarcasm at all. Vince McMahons loves big talentless lunks, so naturally the rest of the fans do too, right?
That Paul Heyman...actually speaking up for Chris Benoit. I mean...a guy like Benoit taking on Brock instead of an established "superstar" and a HOSS like Undertaker? That's just WACKY! And this isn't Wacky Wrestling Entertainment.
(The preceding two paragraphs were 100% sarcastic)
So is it safe to say that Paul Heyman's the only guy in WWE with SOME sense of sanity? What do you all think?
"That's right! You suckas better FIND somewhere to run! 'cause it's me - Booker T - not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the five-time WCW Champion - and I got a sword, too! Now can U dig THAT - SUCKAAAAAS"
I'm sure Vince looked at this idea and said no way, I need me a hoss in my main event. A big hoss. No way the fact that Benoit and Brock are both heels had anything to do with it. Or the fact that it would mean dropping the unfinished Brock/Taker storyline. Not to mention the Benoit/Angle stuff. I mean, we all love it when they drop storylines. Why don't you listen to us, Vince?
I'm sure Brock/Benoit would be a fine match. But at No Mercy? When they are both heels? And both already have something else to deal with? And with Benoit not being very over right now? That sounds like a wacky idea to me.

Hmm, they had no problem dropping the RVD/HHH storyline though, did they?
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
Well, considering the finish of the last PPV, Lesnar didn't go over Undertaker, and I think he NEEDS to go over Undertaker before moving on, thus they should wrestle at No Mercy. Now if Brock doesn't go over at No Mercy, then you can talk screwy logic. (Facing Benoit right now would be screwy in a lot of ways)
As far as the RVD/HHH thing goes, like it or not, HHH DID go over RVD. And since it was due to Ric Flair, it does make sense that RVD would put HHH on the back-burner to deal with Flair, storyline-wise. However, THAT angle didn't really show up last Monday, so if they dropped that issue, they have really left RVD in limbo, and you have to question exactly what they do have in mind.
They way they've set it up right now, an Undertaker/Brock rematch makes far more sense than just throwing Benoit in there. Benoit needs a face turn and some buildup before he's ready to go against Brock.

As much as I'd like to see Benoit in a main event of a PPV, and would love to see the match he could drag out of Lesnar, I would hate to see that thrown out there with so little setup, so that when things don't go well they can blame Benoit and say "we need HOSSES dammit!"

You took the words right out of my mouth...
Which is why Smackdown is still the superior show. Does anyone think Heyman would drop RVD/HHH after three weeks??? What??? Exactly...

It's a pity they're wasting Hell In A Cell on Taker and Brock. Personally, I'd love to see another 6-man HIAC featuring Eddy, Benoit, Angle, Chavo, Edge, and Rey Mysterio. I live in a wacky fantasy world, I know. Crazily enough, I'd prefer to see Benoit/Brock too. Although, if they were going to push someone just to turn around and blame the crappy buyrate on them, then it'd be good to see Rikishi or Mark Henry in the main event. With any luck, the buyrate would convince Vince to just axe them altogether. Again, I'm dreaming.
The best there IS, the best there WAS, and the BEST there EVER will be!

Well, they did kind of hint at the fact that Bischoff is allowing Flair to avoid RVD because he's going to deliver an ex-Smackdown talent.

I just want to say that I have noticed a disturbing trend in the use of hosses in main events. One being that non-hosses are almost always only allowed in main events with other hosses (like Jericho and Trips, or Angle and Rock) and Vince's faith in non-hosses is so weak, that he doubles them up...Remember KOTR 2001? What the fuck was that? Face Benoit and face Jericho double-teaming heel Austin in a triple-threat match? God...
But just the same, Taker/Brock makes perfect sense.
If
Mind you
If
and this is a big if
But only if we get an F-5 on Taker in the middle. That's the only way this helps business.
"There once lived a man named Ray Who suspected he just might be gay, he got moist around males, and he painted his nails, but his ass-f*cking gave it away."
See, I agree with Heyman if he suggested Benoit/Brock prior to Unforgiven. It would make sense to have Benoit come out on Smackdown to challenge Brock for the belt. Angle comes out, says he didn't beat him at Unforgiven. You have those two fued for a few weeks and then take two weeks prior to No Mercy to set-up Benoit/Brock. Of course all of this is mute as Taker didn't do the JOB to Brock.
If Heyman suggested this after Unforgiven, then I think its a bad idea. He may have had the idea I had which was the Smackdown after Unforgiven give the fans a Ultimate Submission match between Benoit/Angle with a 30 minute time limit and turn Benoit face there. At the same show have Brock just murder Taker and injure Taker out. Then, they could do Brock/Benoit, however Taker/Brock in Hell in the Cell is a good idea if Taker jobs properly i.e. he takes the Mick Foley jump of death. I'm seeing No Mercy has just rematches from Unforgiven and I'm kinda glad, I'm missing this one, but as my luck usually goes it'll be the PPV of the year.

Oops, thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten all about that one line. So I guess the issue is still there, just for some reason it's on the back-burner too.
I can't imagine that there will be a huge bump in this HitC match. 'Taker and Brock aren't the bumping machines that Mick Foley or Shawn Michaels were, and WWE is being more careful with these types of risky matches. I don't recall HHH/Jericho doing anything particularly dangerous during their Hell in the Cell match last spring.

Why do you think Mattitude is involved in the feud?
I think Matt's taking the dive.
Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)
Vikings (0-4) - Whoops, that kinda...Uh...Sucked. Hey but at least we looked better in the second half! Badgers (5-1) - Congrats to Penn State. Time to rethink our defense. Twins (2-2) - Comeback trail, hopefully... Buffy 7.2 earns a 8.8 Out of 10 for being the funniest episode since "Tabula Rasa" and without the dramatic ending. It might even have scored higher if my UPN's audio didn't cut out and I didn't have to watch it in closed captioning...

Isn't the reason for this match to finally get Brock major over by defeating Taker in his very own yard, the Hell in the Cell?
YES! I actually read a week of spoilers that didn't make me think that the upcoming show would be the worst thing I've ever seen (although, invariably, they're never THAT bad).
