Click Here to see how Democrats try to scare the hell out of Senior Citizens during election years.

I'm sure OlFuzzy will love this little cartoon. Even though I hate the Dems and terry McAulife I had to laugh when I watched it. G.W. pushing that little old lady off the cliff, hahahaha!

Sarcasm on:
Because we all know that seniors are far too dense to catch on to anything the slightest bit tongue-in-cheek...

I'm sure that the vast majority that see this will think "Oh my stars and garters! Bush wants to kill me!"

Yes-sir-ee...
Sarcasm off.

I saw the link to this flash toon on Drudge today and he was, as per usual, panicked about how it depicted Bush "MURDERING"(~!) a senior citizen. That's a tad bit over the top and ignoring not only the point of the cartoon in question, but how politics have worked for, oh, 2600 years.

Of course people seem to forget what the GOP has slapped on Clinton over the past decade...

Serial rapist.
Drug-smuggler.
Serial murderer.
Pathological liar.
Paula Jones.
Kathleen Willey.
Juanita Brodderick.
Arlington burial plots.
...and many more wild, unfounded personal slurs.

Say what you will about the decency of the Dems flash cartoon, at least it's about an issue of political consequence. At least moreso than Clinton's cock...

OK fletch... for one, all of those labels slapped on Clinton were TRUE! Save two, which I never even heard inplied? What Republican ever implied that Clinton was a serial rapist or a drug smuggler?????
Open your eyes man- the rest of the items on that list are TOTALLY true...
And the whole cartoon of Bush pushing a senior citizen off of a cliff is total nonesense. The social security plans that Bush is working on wont affect current seniors one whit! Any idiot knows that the program is failing... Come on... if you do not like Bush's proposals on Social Security... give me a better idea. And no... leaving it alone is not a better idea, and neither is "raising taxes."
This is a prime example of the difference between Democrats and Republicans. When a Republican disagrees with something, he argues by countering with a different option. A Democrat will argue by painting the Republican as a monster.

Eek...

So, to which issue is the response "Clinton has left a trail of dead bodies in Arkansas" a valid, well thought out, counter option? School vouchers? Clean-air regulations?

Do you see the irony in your post?

Uh, what about the serial murderer one?

GOP-world: It is horrible and wrong to have a cartoon about George W. Bush's position on social security. That's scaring seniors. However, it is perfectly OK to say that World War two veterans are not interested in the security of our country because they're Democrats. That not using scare tactics at all. That must just be "arguing by countering with a different opinion." Kind of like how the GOP countered "we need to preserve the environment, invest in public education, and save social security" with "you got your dick sucked."

A better idea would consist of:

a) making social security a more progressive tax (maybe you don't think it's a better idea as it's "raising taxes.")

b) raising the retirement age (even though this isn't too popular)

c) having the self-employed only pay the 7.5% instead of both the employee and employer share.

d) some other stuff I probabl haven't thought of.

I don't think these ideas were ever offered in response to any particular issue, they were just offered, period. I don't know about any of the other "Clinton murders," but all I know is that the evidence on the Vince Foster case is almost overwhelming, even more-so than the Kennedy assasination, at least at the current stages of the evidence. ("Right wing conspiracies! Right wing concpiracies!") Read *The Strange Death of Vincent Foster* by Christopher Ruddy and tell me what you think. There may not be anything tying Clinton specifically to a murder charge (although there is evidence he may have helped lie about the case) but the notion that Foster committed suicide in Fort Marcy is ridiculous when you look at the data.

Republicans *never* use scare tactics to try to push their agenda across. It's just a coincidence that every time the GOP needs to get anything pushed through Congress, or needs attention turned away from, say, Enron, there's another "There will absolutely, positively, 100% definitely be another terrorist attack in the next 48 hours and we don't know another thing about it".

But, boy, it sure is a good thing Gore "wasn't elected". They'd have the police come around and round up everyone's guns, you know. (You laugh, but *six* people I worked with in the fall of 2000 voted for Bush for exactly that reason. They were, needless to say, hillfolk, but it happened.)

Yeah, I was mighty damn impressed he killed himself one handed....by putting a shotgun in his mouth.

As for the cartoon...It's kinda funny. Void of any ideas or rational thought, but so is most crap the Dems throw out there.

The cartoon is funny. Bullshit of course but funny. I hate both political parties because they both want to play politics rather than work. Stupid crap like campaign fundraising and other things that don't help out their constiuents.

"Yeah, I was mighty damn impressed he killed himself one handed....by putting a shotgun in his mouth."

Actually, it was a revolver. Due to the strange location of the powder burns, he supposedly cupped the gun in his hands with both his index fingers right behind the barrel. In this position he was supposedly able to apply enough pressure to the trigger with one thumb and kill himself. It is of course physically possible, but at the very least an awkward method. However, combined with other evidences, it becomes clear that the more likely scenario is that he was murdered and it was made to look like a suicide. Some of the other bad jobs the killers did was placing Foster's hands straight down to his sides, moving him around with blood flowing out of his head (one streak flowed "uphill" out of his nose or some other location, defying the law of gravity) not putting any grass or dirt stains on his shoes, not leaving any significant amount of blood or brain matter at the scene, etc.

That reminds me of a house show here in Texas earlier this year. In the main event, Test put RVD in a chinlock and yelled, "How do ya like that, hillbillies???" to the enraged marks. I don't know if that makes Test a liberal or not, but being a Canadian, he's probably cool with gun control, legalizing pot and socialized medicene.

Social Security isn't a government savings program. It's a government insurance program. That'w why "S.S.I." stands for "Social Security Insurance" not "Social Security Investments." It's a bit strange, as it insures you against living too long (as well as disability and some other stuff) as opposed to too short, but it's insurance all the same.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if many would say "I'll buy my own insurance, thank you very much, give me my $73.40 from this week's paycheck back." That's a lot more analagous than saying "I'll invest that money myself." (I can just see some folks on this board missing the whole point of this and going off on "what does the government care whether I invest it or buy insurance or buy a Lexus? It's my money, not the goverments!" Please, that's not what I'm talking about.)

Many argue that S.S.I. returns less than a safe investment as a reason to disband it. That's a Red Herring. The fact that it's an insurance program that returns ANYTHING is noteworthy. Insurance is designed to average a negative return on investment. That's the whole point of it. In return for probably loosing a little, you absolutely avoid loosing a lot. With S.S.I., in return for not being totally screwed in the worst-case-scenario (say if you become disabled at 32 or used all your savings at 90 and lived until you're 110), you end up with a less-than-ideal (although still positive) return on your money in the average-case-scenario. That's insurance.

In fact, I think a case could be made that Social Security is somewhat discriminatory against men, minorities, and the poor, all of whom have shorter-than-average lifespans, which in turn subsidize those with longer-than average lifespans in the S.S.I. system. Men, (and minorities for a while also, although that practice has been stopped, thank you trial lawyers) have to pay more in life insurance premiums because they live shorter on average, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to reap the benefits of this shorter-than-average lifespan when it comes to S.S.I.

I would argue that Social Security discriminates against young workers. Let me explain...

When Social Security was created during the abortion known as the New Deal, it was designed as an insurance policy. Unfortunately, it was set up in such a way that the older you were at its inception, the higher rate of return you got. The first person to receive Social Security payments(in 1936) was 62 at the time and received payments until at least the late 1960's without paying a dime in payroll taxes.

As more people began receiving Social Security payments, the higher payroll taxes had to go. It has increased continually since then.

And it's only going to get worse. Baby Boomers will start retiring here in the next couple of years and the actual number of people in the workforce will decline. With retirees living longer than ever before, the money is going to have to come from somewhere. And it's going to come off of the backs of younger workers who will probably receive little reward from the Social Security system when it is time for them to retire. And that's what we need to overhaul the Social Security system.
