Hello, my fellow...wieners? And isn't it actually weiners? Anyway...I'm trying to collect every WWF/WWE PPV ever on tape. The site I was using to find out the names of the Coliseum Video releases doesn't list a couple of them, so I was wondering if anyone might know under what titles they were released. The events in question are In Your House: It's Time and D-Generation X: In Your House. Some of the IYH events were released under their event name (ex: Final Four, Mind Games) but some were released under other names (ex: Buried Alive = Slamathon '96, International Incident = Tour De Force '96). So if anyone out there knows the answers to my queries, please inform me. I'm at 90 PPVs now and I only need 49 more by my count. Thank you for your help. 8-D

The two tapes you're talking about are almost impossible to get for some reason.

I'd try a tape trading site.

It's Time and D-Generation X WERE released under their original names...

D-Generation X was released ONLY in Canada I believe (which I find hard to believe since I'll be damned if I can find ANYTHING that's not a Silvervision converted copy) and It's Time is relatively easy - just use Ebay...and be prepared to spend.

I know the feeling though, I'm doing the same thing. I've got about 70 WWF PPVs off hand - and at this point it's MOSTLY rare stuff (though I have some really easy to find ones that simply aren't there - and I have no idea why!) that I need to pick up.

If you can find North American Coliseum Videos for EVERY PPV that was released, congrats. If you can do it without getting ANY cut boxes, double congrats.

This is a REALLY expensive hobby.

What's a cut box? And I suppose I'm not getting strictly PPVs only. After all, WrestleMania I was not on PPV and neither was the 1988 Royal Rumble but I have both of those. Ideally, I'd love to have a copy of every WCW and ECW PPV ever but living where I live (4 hours south of Alaska), it's damn hard to find anything. Then what really ticks me off is I'll go into video stores in the area and see stuff I need for my collection but they won't sell them to me, even though the video boxes are usually covered in dust due to lack of rental activity. If I ask why they won't sell them, they'll say "because people might want to rent them." Yeah, like anyone would want to rent Survivor Series 93 (for example). I did find a guy in Britain, through whom I got my copies of Royal Rumble 1988 and Mayhem In Manchester. I had to get them converted over to North American videotapes. Would they be "cut boxes"? I imagine the hardest one to get will be Over The Edge 1999. Anyway, I'm rambling now so I must stop. *Darryl Leaps out, hoping each time that his next Leap...will be the Leap -home-.*

It will be interesting to see how many get converted over to DVD. I'm sure all the WrestleManias will eventually, but I'm not sure if any of the other older ones ever will. The problem I have with buying PPV's on video is there is about a half tape worth of crappy matches on all of them and I really hate all the fast forwarding and rewinding to find what I want. The few I do own have barely been watched because of this, and a few I still have to finish.

I do enjoy compelation tapes however. I bought a Best of Raven, ECW Years off Ebay and it's a great tape (I reviewed half of it hear awhile ago) except some of the matches are pretty poor quality and bouncy. Quality seems to be the problem with those types of tapes. So, here I am holding out hope that the WWE releases some quality comp tapes. I hear the Hogan one was alright, but I don't think I could handle that much Hogan.

I'm truly a glutton for punishment, though--I actually watch the whole tape straight through, no matter how bad it gets. So far, I've survived Rumble '94 Casket Match, Undertaker vs. UnderFaker, WrestleMania IX, and King Of The Ring '95. I figure if I can survive KOTR '95, I can survive anything. I still don't understand what the hell the point of Ultimate Warrior/Goldust at Good Friends, Better Enemies was, though. The fun of it for me is nostalgia (since i started watching in the fall of 87, the Ventura Era PPVs always bring back great memories for me). that and the pleasant surprises of great matches I'd never seen before or had forgotten. An example would be Hart Foundation/BrainBusters at SummerSlam '89. Anyway, I'm still not sure what "cut boxes" are but other than the 2 British imports I got, every tape has its original box (except for the WrestleManias which are from the 15-tape box set). Anyone else out there collect a certain kind/genre of tapes? Hopefully, this won't be fodder for being moved to the banished folder as I don't expect a plethora of responses or anything. Smoke me a kipper; I'll be back for breakfast!

Cut box = box that had one of the sides cut off in order to fit inside a rental case.

I've got a few of them - as they're former rentals... I much prefer to get a box in tact and in good shape but I'll take what I can get for some of them.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Weird--and me being a Weird Al fan too. D-oh! Malaysia? Hmm, I wonder what kind of video system they use over there. As for cut boxes, I did get 14 Coliseum Videos from a Video Store Website in Toronto but all the boxes were intact--faded, and covered in little stickers that said either "Wrestling", "Sports", or "Action"--but intact. So I don't know if they qualify as cut or not. I am trying to get them all with the original boxes though. It wouldn't be as appealing if I only had the tapes.

Old tapes are great to watch (especially if they have a lot of bad stuff on them) because it keeps your perspective on where today's product is. I mean, sometimes, when I get feeling bad about what the product is like today - I just pop in a tape like KOTR '95 and I think to myself - damn, THAT was bad - I've got nothing to complain about with today's wrestling!

It's easy to get spoiled and not realize it . . .

Hickenbottom, the man who does not take part in angles that conflict with his religion, swearing violent revenge on HHH in full view of his two-year-old son. 11:06 PM, EST. 08/05/02. This angle, which has gone from being a "clean" wrestling match to an all-out unsanctioned street fight for bloody revenge is apparently sponsored by the book of Joshua.

Yeah, PPV tapes (or DVDs if those are your bag) are great as time capsules. If/when I get them all, I'll watch them in order, starting with WrestleMania I. It'll be kinda like going back and re-reading The Amazing Spider-Man from #1. I know Spider-Man has been restarted or whatever but I stopped buying in 1989 anyway. I started buying them around 1979 when they were 35 cents each (Canadian). When they got to $1.35, I stopped, thinking they were too expensive. Now, I look at them and they're like 4-7 bucks each and the comics don't look like they've changed much--other than the fancy covers. Mind you, I am not speaking as an expert--just general observation when I see them on the rack at the drugstore or something. Anyway...Stoke me a clipper; I'll be back for Christmas!

I'd love to see this kinda thing made an official feature of the WWE Network.
