I'm not sure what your area is like, but here in Halifax we've got 5 degree-granting institutions as well as several diploma-granting institutions. In short, our city survives on students' money.

Every September several things happen: one can't get a phone or cable installation appointment less than 2 weeks from the date of one's call, one's internet bandwidth drops by 50%, and the availability of sweet green leaf drops through the floor. This is despite phone companies, cable companies, ISPs and drug dealers all making arrangements beforehand to avoid these same problems.

Further, if you go up the chain, the guys who do distribution are going to be refocussing their shipments on the big school towns, because they know the product is going to sell, and sell quickly, in places like that.

Things generally balance out by the time midterms roll around, in my experience, anyway.

The other possibility is that outdoor crops that would normally have been harvested by now haven't been for one reason or another. This would certainly cause a dearth in the indoor hydro stocks, which would be exacerbated by the situation mentioned above.

Tell you what, though, I'll think of you when I have my ``It's the weekend'' gagger this evening

how come you're so afraid of things that dont make any sense to you? do you water your raisins daily? do you have any raisins? is there anything that does make sense to you? are you afraid of twelve button suits? how come you're so afraid to stop talking?

To give an idea on my local "Green Scene": My local Bud dealer is looking for a real job for the first time in a couple of years.

He's my last resort as I usually go out of town to find all around better deals in such places as Wichita, Lawrence, or even Oklahoma City. (quantity and quality as opposed to small, expensive bags from the local)

I am in the middle of nowhere, so I guess that says alot, too.

Wait a couple years, and move to Canada. For the principles of freedom.

And BTW Weed costs four times as much out here as it does on the mainland, or so I've heard.

    Do you disagree?

I think all you stoner freaks are sick, but as long as you're stealing Canadians' stuff to pay for your habit instead of mine, I got no beef with you. But please, you have to admit that most of these people who talk about the WEEEEED in terms of the lofty ideals of "freedom" often end up looking like dinks because it's sooooo transparent that they're *really* only interested in scoring their WEEEEED. It's like all those hemp nuts - c'mon, you ain't fooling anybody, JACK. YOU WANT WEEEEED. STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW GREAT HEMP IS FOR THE AMERICAN ECONOMY, YA FUCKIN' POTHEAD STONER DOOFUS, and quit eyeballing my stereo equipment.

Me personally, I am pretty sure I'll smoke the same about of pot whether it's legal or not: nil. The stuff gives me vicious headaches when I'm unfortunate enough to be exposed to second-hand smoke, so I've never even tried it. Hell, I have to be REALLY drunk just to go for tobacco!

Also, I think our Canadian teenaged friend is being incredibly naive up there, but it probably comes with being teenaged and Canadian. ;-)

Aren't you sorry you asked NOW.

I know, that's why I suggested moving to Canada. For FREEDOM.

And CRZ, if you can't trust Woody Harrelson, who you can you trust? For paper! For rope! For blacklights! Legalize hemp!

BTW, this thread reminds me of Conan O'Brian and Martha Stewart making arts and crafts out of canibus. Bless you Conan, for making the Emmys watchable and doing a skit with Andy.

Actually, there is an initiative on the ballot in Nevada for this November to legalize possession in your home of up to 3oz - they say the bill actually has a chance to get through the first round of approvals - it would need to be voted on again sometime in 2004 before becoming law

and for those looking for a quick score now - may I suggest you ask someone on the New York Mets

But CRZ, with my experience with hardcore dopefiends (the guys who do shrooms, ritalin, lsd, and everything else under the sun except crack and heroin, which you can't get up here) and college-aged booze hounds they sell off their own shit to get beer/booze/drug money before they start stealing shit. Thankfully, many of them types up here are seasonal workers who work on shrimp boats, crab boats and big happy construction thingies, or have big arsed student loans and spend their money one useless shit, so generally one can be quite sure that they aren't buying stolen goods (just buying goods from dipshits).

Then again, I live in the middle of nowhere, Canada, and know who all the thieves are around here and thus who not to buy anything from (they're also the people I know not to let into my house, cause they'll try to steal all my good stuff).

Now, about 80% of the people who've i've smoked up with are teachers, the rest are relatives. Generally, people I wouldn't have to worry about stealing my stuff, except a couple of my relatives, but since I don't really associate with those relatives o' mine, that ain't a problem (plus, it usually wasn't in my home, which is good, but shoes and coats can be stolen too, and that's bad).

So, what I'm saying, is don't let stupid fucktards into your domocile, and things are fine as long as you don't leave stuff at a friends house and they let stupid fucktards in. But this doesn't really stop people from breaking in, which is the worst thing that can happen.

Oh, and if'n the tax on pot is high enough, it can be good for the government programs, just like the tax on cigarettes (it is now 10.25 for a pack of 25's here, when just 6 months ago it was only like 8 bucks, thankfully I don't smoke).

One last thing... I think the only reasons that the Senate voted to legalize pot are:

1) Curry favour from the pothead demographic (which they see as young people) to support an appointed bunch of old farts as part of the government.

2) They are a bunch of geriatric coots, and since it is believed that marijuna can dull the pain of arthritis, and old people get arthritis, they want it legal so they can treat their old-people pains.

3) They know they have no power and no one has to listen to them so, anything they say can be ignored and they said it just to make them sound cool (this is the same as number 1).

that NV bill would get challenged by a fed court as it violates federal law...

Truthfully, I'm pro-decriminilization, but I've never smoked.

I don't condone it's use, but I think that if we took even a fraction of the "War on Drugs" money and put it towards rehabilitation, and put the rest of it back into the government, eventually, assumably, the rest of the money would get back to the tax payers pockets.

The same reason I think sex laws between consenting adults should be repealed(sodomy, prostitution, etc..), the same reason I don't think we should spend hundreds of millions of dollars to prosecute adults that don't wear their seat belts...

i agree and disagree w/ ya

on the first part, i think all the "War on Drugs" money would go towards re-hab because since it ain't illegal, more people would do it. some people don't do drungs simply because they are between suppliers.

on the second part, i agree with you, that if 2 concenting adults want to get it on in anyway, let them! they're not hurting anyone else.

but to decriminalize drugs and prostitution, they should be controled by the gov. or at least regulated.

hard liquor is regulated in my county, and you can only by it at goverment shops. the prices aren't too bad, but i wish they had better hours. luckly i live near the county line, and i can go down the other street to the 24 hour shop.
