Thanks, I appreciate it.

I wish I had pointed out Booker's been using that music forever, oh well. It's still from the Kids In the Hall.

I think it's public domain music that is probably used lots of places because no one owns it.

Three Faces of Dean: Teenage Riot, T.R., and now this guy

"How YOU Doin'?"
- me, weekly (or so) at [slash]

"History is being make-ed... someone is going to get their head completely shaved off"
- David McLane, PPV opening promo

You see this? You see how my body's glowing like that? Yeah... a lot of people can't do that. Come get some of this glowing. Oh, okay, you. You want some. You want some of the glowing. Look, man... your soul... I'm going to totally floss with it and chew on your spirit. I read that somewhere. But I'll do it.

It's gonna be very strange the day they replace Booker's music with some WWE-generated piece to put on an upcoming CD.

What's odd is that they seemed to loose the license to a lot of the WCW-era music (Storm's and Kidman's stuck out, since they're the biggest other two who still had it) a bit back, but not Booker's.

Actually, a couple of french guys (Rene De Wael and Didier Leglise) are still catching the royalties on it.

I agree, good column. I also agree with cubsfan that it'll be sad when the Booker/Heat/Francesca Fiore/Bruno Puntz-Jones theme finally disappears. It will be a real shame...somehow, it just fits Booker no matter what kind of angle he's in. It's amazing that they actually haven't gotten rid of it yet.

This is probably as good a place as any to bring up something small and petty that nevertheless annoys me a lot, the "Whooooo!" (or Wooooo!, if you prefer) they tacked on to the front of Flair's entrance. Not only is it unnecessary because the music is already familiar both due to it being a well-known classical piece and the 2001 connection, but throwing that on just kind of ruins the connection of the music to Flair. Starting with Austin and Bret and the Attitude era, you had guys who would come out a lot during the show for shock segments, so you'd need those identifiable openings like the KEE-RASH for Austin and the Evil Guitar Chord for Bret, and then Rock had his "If ya smelllllll" opener.

But Flair's not one of those guys who had to come out for surprise segments all the time. Like Hogan and the Undertaker, Flair is/was the kind of guy who gave the impression of only coming out for something as important as the main event, and their themes reflected that aura of it being a big deal, that this was going to be something to watch. As different as Real American or Also Sprach Zarathustra or UT's Funeral March were, they all had that build in the beginning that played into building up what followed as being really important. Tacking a Whoooo onto the front (or if they brought back Real American with a "WATCHAGONNADO?" or "WELL YA KNOW MEAN GENE" on the front) misses how the entrance plays into creating the character's persona and an expectation for the crowd.

So, yeah, I guess all that is just a long way of saying I agree with Tanya.

I totally agree- I hate the Woooooo! before the Flair music. One think I do miss was the Rock's old "Do You Smell What the Rock is Cooking?" before his face turn... I always thought that was way better....
