He's been caring for his wife. Somebody was asking why he hadn't been on TV and wwe.com gave us the answer: ----------------------------- The reason that Ron "Faarooq" Simmons hasn't been seen on World Wrestling Entertainment telecasts lately is that he's been off the road caring for his wife.
Lottie Simmons, Ron's wife of 15 years, has been having vision problems for the past two months, and doctors have been unable to determine the cause or treat the symptoms.
"We have no idea yet of what it is," Simmons told WWE.com Tuesday in a telephone interview. "We're trying to find that out, and how to treat it. We're going to all kinds of neurological surgeons, neurologists -- and you know how that is. Everybody's got a different opinion. We'll still going to different people and getting different treatment.
"We're just hoping it's nothing real major. That's what we're trying to avoid. We're trying everything but surgery right now."
Simmons said his wife's main symptom is double vision; she's been wearing patches over one eye to help the problem. Most frightening is that the problems started while Lottie was driving.
Doctors are speculating that Lottie's problems could have been triggered by migraine headaches.
"There were several things that they say may have caused it," Simmons said. "We're just hoping that the medications that she's taking are helping. Some days they do, some days they don't. The process of it is slow, but we're hoping though.
"We're getting through it. Hopefully it'll all be over soon."
Simmons said he hopes to be able to return to WWE in about a month. WWE officials will allow him to care for his wife for as long as it takes.
The Florida State University legend has also been nursing a left hamstring, which he pulled about two months ago, as well as a knee that's been giving him problems for several months.
"Just the normal aches and pains that all the guys go through," he said. "You have to give the hamstring a little time. It's coming around real good though. A little time did me good.
"But one of the main things is to be here to take care of (Lottie). That's my other half -- my better half I should say. She's kept me in line."

Am I the only one that could see some great potential in Farooq acting as mentor of sorts for Booker T, helping to motivate him back to world championship form? Or maybe it's just nostalgia from seeing Ron Simmons defend the WCW world championship live against Lex Luger during a massive WCW TV taping when I was 14 years old.
Then we could get that cool Doom theme song again.
You're all so WONDERFUL. Why did they ever have to remove you from the continuity? You'd have made for MARVELOUS stories. You WILL make marvelous stories. And the FIRST story of the new world will be a story of REVENGE! -- The Psycho Pirate, Animal Man 23, May 1990.

or would that be Harlem (Houston?) Heat 2003 w/ faarooq playing the part of Stevie Ray?
"You're just a fruit bootie. DAMN!"
Jerry "The King" Lawler rhymes with ass and hearing him rant like a 12 year old makes me all shades of angry. Every last shade. That's just my 2.45 Yen.
Wow. I hope they find out what's wrong and that she returns to full health. It sounds pretty scary.
These commercials are superfine because they pay for the production costs of putting CHRIS MOTHERFUCKING BENOIT on my GODDAMN TV SCREEN! I will GO GREYHOUND! I am thinking OUTSIDE THE BUN! – Dean Rasmussen 8/1/2002 Smackdown Workrate Report
On one hand I'm definitely sorry for Faarooq's misfortune, but on the other DAMN, I'm proud of the way he's handled it. Maybe I'm just a big softie at heart, but I truly do love it when a guy is faced with a decision of family or "the business" and chooses family. Ron Simmons is definitely a class act, and however it turns out, I'm sure his wife appreciates him being there.

I wonder what the WWE will do when his wife recovers? I haven't seen them do anything with him since the APA was dissolved during the brand extention.
I'd love to see a reunion of the APA, personally.
And yes, Ron is an incredible human being for putting his career on hold to look after his wife.
In honour of Ron, I have one thing to say...all together now...
DAMN!
We miss ya, buddy!

Braun Strowman's character is an impossibly strong man of few words that just wants to beat people up. Fans have been cheering him mostly since he's been opposing the hated Roman Reigns, but part of me feels fans are genuinely into this guy.
