As much as I'm tired of hearing the phrase from every stinking broadcaster on ESPN's entire staff, I can't help but scream it out.

HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!

We may be 1-15 when it's said and done, but we beat the Titans this week, by gawd.

Hey, the Boys are 1-1, just as everybody expected them to be at this point. Right on schedule.

I'll give the 'Boys their props. They were hungry and apparently we weren't.

But also it's kinda hard to do anything offensively when your QB is on his back or getting forced to run(and getting pushed into the bench when he was cleary going out of bounds but I'm not gonna go into that)

Our secondary, hell, our whole defense played like shit on Sunday. No pressure and the secondary seemed to always be behind the recievers.

I'll give you 'Boys props and good luck on your #3 draft pick next year(behind Lions and Ravens) :)

Rebecca: Oh,face it,you just hate everybody.

I thought that the 'Boys would lose Sunday, but they didn't. I hope Emmitt breaks that running record this year.

Also, the 'Boys are in first place in their division, then again so's everyone else.

To quote Chris Berman, they couldn't beat the new Houston team, so they beat the old Houston team.

ARGH! I know Connie and Jarrett and the whole Payton family have given the stamp of approval to Emmitt, but he does NOT deserve to break Payton's record. Seriously, has there ever been a time when Emmitt was even considered the best ACTIVE running back?! I'm sorry, but Emmitt was an above average back stuck behind one of the best lines in history, and able to just hang around long enough to get the record. Hell, he's probably not even the best back on his team at this point, but he'll keep getting carries to break that record if it kills all of them. A pox on Emmitt. I hope Sanders comes back and runs for 6 more years with a good team and breaks the record that Emmitt ends up setting.

The above post was brought to you by the letter B.

Because you can't spell bitter without it.

Honestly, how can you say he doesn't deserve the yards? He has the yards! Why doesn't he deserve them? I didn't know the "NFL Rushing Leader" was known as "Best Running Back of All-Time." If the guy has the yards, he deserves the record, saying otherwise is nonsense.

Oh, and good to know he has the approval of the Payton family to break the record. (sheesh) So if they were mad about it, Emmitt should quit playing football?

Steve Bellisari, Strong Safety, St. Louis Rams. Putting him on IR has KILLED their team. Wanna know what they're 0-2, there ya go. No Bellisari.

Looks like someone has been pounding shots of Hatorade with Jealousy Juice chasers. Emmitt Rules. He's a class act (and always has been), an incredible running back, and deserves every accolade he's ever received. He's just a few hundred yards shy of being the all time rusher. How can anyone say he doesn't deserve it? The yards weren't handed to him, or just filled in with pencil by the statisticians. It's all Emmitt.

Put any of about 15 different RB's I can think of behind that Dallas O Line of the 90's, and I'll name you 15 RB's who would have 20,000 yds for a career. Hell Walter, Brown, Sanders or OJ might have had 25,000 over the same length of time.

I don't hate Emmitt and Bizzle is right, he's a damn classy guy. He just seems to me this generation's Franco Harris, a really good, but not great RB who happened to luck into playing with a dynastic team, and thus had his career numbers inflated far beyond his talents. And yes, I am bitter that someone who I don't think is of that skill level as the aforementioned guys is going to take the record. If Sanders had stayed around and taken Walter's record, I would have been the first person to post about how he earned every yard and deserves to take the mantle. But seriously, any above average back of the last 10 years would have been able to duplicate Emmitt's numbers in that team with that line. To give you perspective think about Emmitt and then think about Payton or Sanders. How many times did you ever see Emmitt having to evade 3-4 guys in the backfield just to get to the line of scrimmage and then make something of the run? Then think about Sanders or Payton, and how damn near every run they had to make their own holes. To me Emmitt breaking this record would be like if Rafael Palmeiro hung around long enough as a DH to somehow break Aaron's record. Raffy's a great player and a HOF performer, but he would not have the HR record because he's the best home run hitter ever, which is the sort of logic most people use when looking at records and judging careers. So yes, I'm bitter, because I fear that 20 years from now someone who never saw either of them play is going to look at the numbers and think that Emmitt Smith was a better running back than Walter Payton or Barry Sanders or Jim Brown or Gale Sayers or OJ Simpson, and that's going to be so so so wrong.

Yes, but it's not Emmitt's fault that he played for those teams. I mean, it's not like Payton's O-Line's always sucked. Furthermore, Emmitt's taken a lot of hits, that's one of his hallmarks, he hardly ever went down with the first hit. Sure, there was some plays where he was never touched, but that's not his fault. Plus, the record is a testament to the guys toughness, not many backs stay around as long as he has and have stayed as relatively healthy as he has. Obviously, we're never going to agree on this, but to say he doesn't deserve the record doesn't make any sense. Does he deserve to go down at the best running back of all-time, probably not, but if he got the yards, he got the yards, period.

Oh well, hopefully Corey Dillon will keep doing what he's doing and break Emmitt's record, no one could make any of those claims about him.

I had to attend a wedding this afternoon so I taped the game and tried to avoid tv, radio, etc. etc. all day. Of course, a Notre Dame fan ruined the end for me at the reception.
