Where's the Raw Rating for this week? I'm curious to see if HLA had any impact on the ratings. I hope not, though.

3.4, according to 1wrestling. Down .2 from last week and the lowest rating in over 4 years. Let the predictions of doom begin!

Lets not forget that this was the first week of MNF. Doesn't that usually move the RAW ratings down???

MNF usually pulls a bit from Raw. It was more pronounced though when the WWE was pulling 6's and 7's on Monday's.

The quarter hours should be interesting as they listened to the fans last week and cut HHH's time down. Anyone notice that last week there was a big drop off between the first and second hour? That is probably why Vince put the HLA in the second hour and let Lawler act like an ass. So people would not turn away.

This week's show should be interesting to see if the drop off sticks.

I admit that I was off by .5 on my overall prediction of a 2.9, but that 3.3 in the first hour really must have Vince concerned.

I'm just wondering why anyone here cares what the rating is every week, whether it's 0.2 or 7.2. The only time I can think of it ever mattering to me as a viewer is when it was interesting to see how Raw was doing against Nitro.

Yeah, the ratings right now aren't going to really be much of any interest or worth. Not unless they start tanking into the .7's or start a trend of consistently getting better ratings. Right now's just a time to sit this out and wait for something to pick up again. Especially with MNF coming on, and thus bringing with it our excuse for why the ratings are down from last week.

Yeah, how important are the ratings, really?

They still consistently deliver their demographic to the good people at Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and Lugz, so we shouldn't panic, right??

Because WWE does, and bases their programming in large part on it?

We went through this recently.

Hey last time i checked Monday Night Football was not a
Primetime special that the E doesnt have to worry about next week. They have 16 more of those bad boys to go.
Man, and to think only what 2 or 3 years ago rumors that Vince was being "asked" to move raw to another night.

Not to mention the WWF, TNN and UPN base their advertising rates on the ratings.

I think the ratings are interesting. Actually I thought it was really interesting that when they were doing good shows with a lot of positive feedback from early July to Mid August (actually I just remembered one bad show during that time period h/shawn main event satellite chat) the ratings were holding steady or climbing up slowly actually from the first Monday of July to August 19 (oh that date) the ratings dropped only ONCE... Of course Aug. 19 one of the worst shows I've ever seen with no contest main event, mud match with a talented wrestler and Fozzy concerts and since then the ratings have gone nothing but DOWM. And now they seem like a ship sinking and have no clue how to right it and praying the HHH and Tna Can save it. Well it has done nothing but make things worse.

Oh funny that the week before they hyped a smutty pillow fight for the bottom of the 2nd hour and Lawler continues asking Can I ref? Can I ref? Can I ref? and one of the few times in history the second hour rating actually went DOWN... So they sit around the booking meeting saying "Wow 2nd ratings went down last week lets try to fix this with a smutty segment at the bottom of the 2nd hour with Lawler continuing plugging it." I'm sure everyone said "wow that will work great" And not a single person rised his hand and said "Umm isnt' that the exact same thing we did the week before and the 2nd hour dropped?". Of course no one said that because that would make him an independent thinker and WWE only hires Tools.

Does HLA = ratings. Well by researching it looks like and average of 0.4 to 0.5 raise in the ratings for the second hour of RAw. It doesn't matter if WWE is doing 3's or 5's, 0.5 is an average amount of people that tune in Raw late and push the 2nd hour number up. Sometimes the number goes up higher then that which means something really hot is happening and a lot of people are tuning in and sometimes it under that but the average is 0.5. SO this week the second hour with the hype of a lesbian kiss climbed only 0.2 points. If you include the 0.5 late comers and the pervs who was flipping and heard HLA then how many people tuned out to make the second hour only 0.2 stronger then the first.

Well JR it seems that the person who seems to really REALLY care about your type of "sizzle" is the old perv sitting next to you. Maybe you should send him home and the HLA hour might have gone all the way up to a 0.3 jump

I guess what amazes me is only a short time ago the WWF was doing 6's and WCW was doing 3's and 4's. Meaning almost 11 million people where watching wrestling every week. Here we sit 30 months later and the WWF is only doing low 3's. In less than 3 years the death of WCW and downward spiral of the WWF has caused the loss of 6-7 million viewers. Thats amazing. Any other show would have been cancelled for losing that many viewers that fast.

1.) Wrestling is always on, so the business is cyclical, as they say.

2.) There's lots of shows out there that *wish* they could pull 3s and 4s. *Especially* on cable. What's TNN's biggest show, after wrestling?

Here's something that I've been wondering for a while. I'm pretty sure the Nielsen ratings will allow a viewer to be counted as watching TWO shows every quarter hour ... a Nielsen family only has to watch six or seven minutes every quarter hour to count. (I did some searching on Google to see if this is correct but came up empty).

So when RAW was getting 6s and 7s and Nitro was getting 3s and 4s, it may not be accurate to just add the two numbers together. It may have been 3 million viewers watching RAW, 1 million watching Nitro, and another 2-3 million flipping back and forth between the two and getting counted as watching both shows. There wasn't 10 million people watching wrestling every Monday night -- there may have been 6-7 million.

This would explain why there wasn't a big jump for RAW when Nitro went off the air -- by the end of WCW's run perhaps almost every Nitro viewer was watching RAW too and getting counted as a viewer for both shows.

Trading Spaces was higher rated this last week, and it pulls a decent 18-35 demo.

That's right, Trading Spaces. That show your girlfriend watches... It's getting better ratings on TLC which is always hidden up in no-man's land.

That said, since CSI is pulling around a 9 on the broadcast version on CBS, I'm pretty sure that it will either be the top rated show on TNN or close to it when it gets going.

Football also pulls in the cable ratings, as I'm sure we all know.

But, really, I don't care how big a show CSI is in broadcast, cable style re-runs almost always do way less businiess than their big brothers. For example, Buffy a popular show with a hardcore fan base that typically does a 5-6 cable rating in the major markets, only hits a 1 or 2 on FX. Mostly because, I imagine, people can't a) be bothered to find "re-runs" on some other network when newer shows are showing on broadcast TV and b) because most of the fans who WOULD seek them out have already seen the shows and will only tune in if their favorites eps are on.

That said, I'd say CSI hits around a 2 or a 2.5 depending on whether or not people are willing to look for it on the "Star Trek, Wrastling, and Rodeo" network.

Of course my opinion is only slightly informed, and your stats may vary.

I should have clarified...

I don't expect it to pull a 9 on TNN - but I think it MAY out pull RAW in the 3-4 range depending on IF it can do really well and IF the wrestling show doesn't get much better.

I'm just going off of zap2it.com's ratings here, and guessing about what it will pull.

//edit: And I'm assuming that CBS is going to put ads for the TNN replays on during / near CSI's broadcast version.

Just to update you, Guru, it ended up pulling a 1.2 after RAW (3.4), so I don't think RAW's in any danger of being out paced any time soon.
