Now that's what I call fanservice! There were people in Phoenix, loyally hanging out til the end of the game, in spite of the horrible 19-0 score against LA. So just to reward those who were still there, Bob Brenley let Mark Grace pitch the 9th inning! You gotta love it!
(I'm out of town, but I guarantee that my season ticket consortium partners that were in attendance were still there to see it!)

Being from Los Angeles, I was more than happy to see the Dodgers whip some Diamondback ass tonight! But as if a 19-0 score couldn't make me happy enough, I got to see Mark Grace do his Mike Fetters impression. That's something I'll remember for years!

Eeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuu! No wonder there are so few women on this board!!! From "Mark Grace gets to pitch" to "masturbation kills kittens" in 2 posts! (Its not like the original post was "Mark Grace does Mike Fetters"...) Yeeeesh, guys!
i don't really follow baseball, so i was wondering what was special about the dude getting a chance to pitch in the 9th...

Mark Grace is a firstbaseman, and he got to pitch the ninth inning of a 19-1 blowout. Since you don't follow baseball closely...Gracie is one of the last old schoolers left in the bigs, plus he's one of the great baseball guys in the league. So its just kinda cool that he got to do that (him and his 65 mph heater.)
like if in football, an old time qb got a chance to kick a FG, or like what the Fridge did back in the '80s...

But cooler. Grace doing the Fetters bit harkens back memories of Boggs pitching for the Yanks against the Angels in '97. I think it was Todd Greene he struck out too. That was friggin awesome.

Yeah, that was a keeper. Steve Finley pitched last year against the Giants. I feel sorry for Oropesa though, since coming back his ERA went down to 7ish and now it's like 12.
Besides everyone knew a game like that was just going to get Randy more motivated than usual.
Thread ahead: Anyone have a clue why the Red Sawx went in the tank? Next thread: Anyone have a clue why the Mariners went in the tank? Previous thread: Is it me...
Is it entirely ruled out that Randolph was offered a chance to keep his job, although his two (hand-picked) coaches were going to be replaced by the guys they called up from AAA anyhow?
