I liked the old snarky, lithe, agile HHH way better than the new, boring, semi-immobile, involved in every segment Triple H.

HHH is God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A bunch of posters make it seem like they hate HHH personally and would hope that he gets ganggrene and dies.
I have not been impressed with his promos or in-ring work since he came back from the quad injury...that is untill now.

To me he plays awesome as a heel. I loved when he lost to HBK, but laughed my ass off when he came out to HBK's theme music the next night. And on Raw when he got the belt, I once again put a big grin on my face. If people are really pissed off about it, I hope they are smart enough to know that it was meant to piss them off(Remember HHH is a heel and supposed to piss people off!).

I am a flag flyin member of the Triple H bandwagon, so Ringmistress you are not alone and I salute you. Furthermore, I could care less about all this backstage hypothesis bullshit! It is fun to speculate sometimes, but to act like you really know what's going on (like you work there) then your foolish. If anyone has true backstage knowledge then note it.

If you hate HHH for his on air persona then I will respect you for that, and will listen to your opinions. Thank you.

Well I guess I will post my thoughts, I have not really commented on HHH in a while because there are plenty of people speaking their minds, but since that's what the topic is about here I go.

Do I think that HHH gets a bigger push than he should because he is married to the boss' daughter? Sure. But to be honest I would give my spouse a push too if I could. And really I blame Vince for letting it go on, and not HHH. What's he supposed to do? Tell Vince he doesn't want the title.

Truth is I think HHH is pretty good, but not the best in the WWE. Would they be better off with someone else as #1? I'm not sure. I mean I think Angle, Jericho, Benoit, Edge, Eddie and maybe some others are more talented, but I think that the state that wrestling is in isn't going to change much no matter who is #1 right now. All the people who have stayed this long aren't going anywhere and I doubt WWE can come up with something to bring in new fans. So if it's Angle, Benoit, Jericho, or HHH #1 I think the buyrates and ratings would be about the same.

Angle has been pushed to the moon and back, but he is probably the best all around so I don't see why not give him another shot. Benoit has been pushed up there but not all the way. Same for Edge, I say give them title reigns and see how they do, then if that fails go back to HHH or Angle, or whoever.

Lastly, I like HHH better as the snobby version, I liked his feud with Mankind over the King of the Ring back in the day better than his feud with Mankind over the Title. I liked his feud with the Rock over the IC title better than his feud with the Rock over the World Title. And I liked him better in DX as HBK's lackey than as the leader. Probably because HBK is miles ahead (in my opinion) both in and out of the ring.

I guess what i'm trying to say is i found him more as a low main event/upper mid carder (like Benoit is now). Someone made a good point though, after Stone Cold and The Rock were gone HHH was next in line, I understand that and think he deserved getting his main event/World Title run, but to me it's been boring for quite some time and it should be someone else's chance. As a matter of fact the last time I was interested in HHH was when him and Stone Cold were agains the Chrises, and that's really only because of the push that Jericho and Benoit were getting.

So I don't hate the guy, and I don't blame him, but I don't praise him and don't think he's the best in the WWE either.

(This is a bit long. Sorry!)

For anyone who's putting HHH down, it ought to be kept in mind that, even though he MAY have political clout (not saying he does or doesn't either way), part of the blame should be shouldered on the waek writing and the often-times stale commmentary provided by the Ross/Lawler team.

Also, let's look at the point before Austin left. He was so heavily into the "What?" stages of his character that there were many who began to dislike the Stone Cold character, because it was a departure from what he was a few years ago. I liked '97 de-facto face Austin, '98 Austin, the Alliance and the post-Alliance versions of Steve Austin, (sue me for the latter). I KNOW other people loathed the Whatmaster. Despite that, when the RAW brand came through Denver in April, I still went and bought a What? T-shirt, just because. (I even bought a new HHH shirt to boot.)

Point is, I don't think people necessarily hate HHH to the core. They might hate his actions now, as evident in other responses. And, there are some fans whose liking for a wrestler is insoluble, and in my case, that's applicable to Austin, Ric Flair, Booker T, Rock, HHH and Mick Foley. Those things might cause dissention between fans, as it ought to.

So don't worry, Ringmistress. Mark out for who you wish, and may all of us fans everywhere do the same! After all, what would wrestling be to any of us if we all liked the same wrestlers?

Now can we all dig that, SUCKAS!!! (And, as a Booker T mark, I mean 'SUCKAS' in only the most flattering and respectful way!)

I don't mind the guy. He bores me a little, but I'd much rather watch one of his matches than some other stuff from certain zeros on the Raw roster. Big Show, I'm looking in your direction. However, as with the McMahon presence, less is more. No single guy or chickie should be on the screen six or seven times in one night.

Speaking of his matches, Trip has been involved in many great ones over the years (anyone remember Triple H vs. TAKA Michinoku on Raw a couple years ago?) Granted, most of them were before his quad injury (I think he went overboard with his rebuild), but such classics as his match against Michaels at Summerslam proves that he still has something left.

I like full-blown heel Triple H darnit! I can't help it. I'm not big on face too-cool-for-school Triple H, nor of tweener I-really-don't-care-about-anything Triple H, but I like the full jerk Triple H. And I actually think his ring work has been pretty good since coming back from his more minor injury. I think he has dropped some of his mass, and is moving around a little better because of it.

As far as the backstage stuff goes, I will just say it is never a good idea to have an employee sleep with the boss's daughter, for the very reason that you see displayed on boards like this (and I am sure is in the mind of many of the other wrestlers). It just doesn't look good, and everything you accomplish as a result is questioned. That's why many companies have policies against this very type of thing. But Vince allows it, so Vince has to shoulder the blame. In fact, he has final say on all pushes I believe. He is the boss, the buck stops with Vince. Don't blame the talent for storylines, blame the boss.

I don't hate HHH. He's a pretty good wrestler. And his promos are alright, though long. He was one of my favorite wrestlers till the end of the HHH-Steph-Angle triangle.

Sometimes, though his backstage antics get to me, but overall, he's alright.

Personally, I can't stand the guy -- never could -- but I think it's all in the dynamics of who he gets to play off of.

HHH made his bones with balls-out feuds against Rock, Austin and Foley -- wrestlers who were:

ONE, stars clearly above him in the pecking order (OK, maybe not Foley);

and TWO, had personalities that tweaked Hunter's "Pompous Egomaniacal Blowhard" character.

But now, like the Big Bad Wolf, Hunter's still huffing and puffing, but there's just no interesting houses to blow down anymore. Result being, all we get is the hot air.

On one hand I fully agree with the bunch that says that he just isn't that damn good right now.
The promo a few weeks ago with the contract signing and stuff just bored the shit outta me, and that has been really the first time I was bored with Hunter.
Since his return he hasn't been all that, mostly because he had to play the face, and I hope that now that he is a heel he is better.

On the other hand..
They (H, WWE, writers) seem to know though that the H2K won't work right now, in other words he cannot be the all ruling evil bastard he was in 2000, thus he is a bit more of a tweener with his witty annoying stuff like saying Steph doesnt mind getting screwed, and making sex jokes again. So basically I hope they know where they are going with his character.

About him holding that title, I actually have the idea that they know what they are doing. Taker moving to Smackdown to be the big dawg there and actually putting Lesnar over.
Triple H is the champ on Raw and he already issued challenges to the entire roster..who knows what is going to happen? H2K put over the entire roster while keepign the title, and maybe that will happen again now?
I know it's easy to say he won't but why not let it rest and see what happens?

I think what Ringmistress meant to say was she is waiting for the day that this indeed will happen , that Hunter will be that 'awesome guy' he was back in 99/2000 when he was carrying the fed on his back..

Triple H does suck. At least David Arquette actually pinned somebody for the WCW World Title. This guy gets the belt handed to him, and I think it's ridiculous.

It is good to see the belt back, though, and I hope that RVD kicks Triple H's ass for that belt at Unforgiven. Of course, the day Triple H jobs a title to a young guy, the United States will surrender to Djibouti after getting its ass kicked in World War III.

Ric Flair was handed THE title by Kevin Nash.
Kanyon was given the US title.
Mideon was given the Euro title.
And I am sure there are many other examples.

Would you complain if the belt was handed to RVD or Jericho? Would you say they suck? I think not..

Another point i meant to point out along the same lines. Who was on top before HHH? Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker, Stone Cold, The Rock. In my opinion these guys are all guys who are possibly in the top 10 (ok maybe top 20) wrestlers of all time. And HHH isn't anywhere near that good. So it just seems like a step down for me. But then again, anybody they've got is a step down from those guys so what are you going to do?

Yes i'm sure there are other examples, examples that all suck as equally as these. But I think this is even a worse example since after all it is the top belt on Raw. Who cares if Mideon was handed the Euro Title (Mark Henry was also given it by Jarrett) it means nothing. The US Title, even though I love Kanyon, means more and should not have been given away. This is a world title though it should not be just given to someone.

And btw, if we're thinking of the same time (around the New Blood vs. Old Blood angle I think) then Ric Flair was given the title by Nash because he DID rightfully win a match for it, but then somehow (i don't remember how) gotten taken away without actually losing it.

Well, good to see some great opinions on this. That's the one thing I always count on in this board even when we're disagreeing. Okay, it's true, I'm longing for the days of '99-2000, just a tad, mind you. I know that won't happen, but with all that said, when I see HHH mocking Shawn two weeks ago (every time I think about that I laugh my ass off, I did it in a crowded subway and everybody looked at me funny), and then Shawn giving his rebuttal last Monday, something tells me that as far as he seems, he's not far off. Not from where he was 2 years ago, but where he needs to be just to reafirm his status as one of the most over heels in the promotion. Being the RAW champion may help, just so he could put on this really arrogant act to the point that when one of the midcarders (RVD for example) dethrones him, that person will automatically be pushed to the top. If that's the case, it wouldn't be so bad. I didn't say, I support this whole RAW champ thing, but I guess I understand what's happening.

I don't hate HHH.

I used to think he was awesome, actually, back in his glory days of 2000. I'd never liked him before then, and I doubted very seriously his ability to pull of the main event thing, but I was proven wrong when he did, and I came to genuinely like the guy. He came a long way from "Let's get ready to suck it".

I was excited when he made his return, but I was disappointed that he returned as a bland face. I couldn't agree with Kurt Angle more the night he came back to Raw, and they had all those segments where everyone backstage was talking about how great he was, and Kurt said something to the effect of "Am I the only one who remembers that he used to go around terrorizing people with a sledgehammer?"
It damaged the character for all the talent to welcome him back with open arms, because the greatness of his character was that he WAS such a jerk, and he'd made enemies of pretty much everyone.

Since his return, I've found him mostly just kinda boring, but I've been hesitant to say I don't like him. I figured he needed time to get back into the swing of things, and when he made his turn recently back to big mean heel, I had hope.

The problem is, it's hard to enjoy heel H now because there's so much of him, which everyone has said. I think it's also a fatal mistake to confine Brock to Smackdown. The fans were getting into him, and now that he's the champ, he should be the star. But instead he has to share it with H, and it's just not working. It makes Brock's championship seem less important, making Brock himself seem less important, and it's doing nothing to help H's character.

After seeing H get handed a world title on Monday, it's certainly no endearing me to him. It's a shame too, because you know what? I really *want* to like Triple H. I think he has the ability to be great again. I've been the only person in my household who hasn't jumped on the "I hate H" wagon, but my patience is really being tested.

And then there's the Jericho thing. It's really getting kinda sad watching him job again and again, and whether that has anything to with Hunter (as most people think) or not, Jericho has been the highlight of Raw for me for the last couple weeks, and I couldn't help thinking that some of those eight hundred H segments couldn't have been devoted to an extra Jericho segment here and there.

Really, I don't care who Hunter is sleeping with behind the scenes. I really don't. My only problem is when what's happening behind the scenes makes the tv suffer. If it is, well, that sucks.

But I do still want to like H. Really, I do.

As some others have already said, I'm glad HHH is back in full blown heel mode. Coming out to HBK's music was brilliant (not that it was his idea, but it was still cool).

But I think this further proves a point ... HHH is only good (read: tolerable) when he has a bonafide superstar opponent to play off of. HHH was totally sucking and tanking out until his feud with Michaels started.

His recent feuds (like the HITC w/ Jericho) SUCKED. That tells me that his a decent performer but not a bonafide superstar, otherwise he could have carried Jericho the way Michaels, Rock and Austin have carried him.

Oh yeah.... HHH sucks.
