First the Rock is making a movie, then he's making his big return, now he's planning for another movie. And then? Is he going for another big comeback?

I've come to the conclusion that part time wrestling sucks.

Why? because you know when somebody's gonna drop a title or do a job for someone.

And what is realy anoying is the 'Great comeback' the wrestlers do. Those damn movies...
'He's back and better then ever' and a whole Raw episode is in theme of that comeback...
Also, when the wrestler finaly makes his entrance, it takes at least 15 minutes before the crowd let the wrestler speak. Not that he has anything important to say, then the fact that HE is back...

The point of this tread? I think Part time wrestling sucks and in the end is taking valuable match time of other the wrestlers, who actually have a story to tell, other then the fact that their back... AGAIN.

Part time wrestling has had advantages. At least in the past when softball season was approaching, we knew Sid would be disappearing.

Thank you Mr. Wanz for the check, now you get an AWA World Title Reign. But be careful, my boy Greg is a heat machine.

As much as I like The Rock, I have to wonder how stale his whole thing would be right now if he hadnt left at all.

Really, not everyone gets 15 minute welcomes. Rhyno sure won't for instance. (Unless, of course, the WWE is smart and builds it up, a la the Mysterio entrance...)

Kanyon did well as a part-time wrestler. He was a physical therapist who followed promotions. He initially took a huge pay cut to become a full-time wrestler.

WHO BETTAH THAN KANYON (at helping you bounce back from that torn tendon)?

Sometimes part time wrestling works wonders. How stale would The Rock be if he did his schtick ALL THE TIME?! The time he's off doing movies, it gives him a chance to make money for WWE while keeping his act somewhat fresh. The same thing could have worked for Hogan's red and yellow. Had HE taken extended time off for movies, fans would mark out for each and every return.

However, this doesn't work for everybody. Had Austin left for an extended period of time, it wouldn't have worked, mostly because of his character. And if Brock were to do this soon, it wouldn't work because he's lucky to even be over at all right now. Ditto for Benoit. And it OBVIOUSLY isn't working for one Ken Shamrock.

But what I'm interested in hearing is, would part time wrestling work for Kurt Angle, who may be headed back to the Olympics? Would he manage to stay over when he returns?

"That's right! You suckas better FIND somewhere to run! 'cause it's me - Booker T - not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the five-time WCW Champion - and I got a sword, too! Now can U dig THAT - SUCKAAAAAS"
-Booker T, Hollywood's next big superstar!

"Sing along with The Rock is now over!"
-The Rock after getting booed out of Long Island

Hugh Morrus is now using his real name. NO, he is NOT calling himself Hugh G. Rection!!

And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!

I think you're thinking of Devon "Crowbar" Storm, who is a licensed physical therapist.

There's nothing new about part-time wrestlers. In the mid-90s guys like Shawn Michaels and Hogan might wrestle once a month. Hogan sometimes didn't even appear on pay-per-views from month to month when he had the World Title! And Sting began having contracts that stipulated he didn't have to work Thunder and frequenly took months at a time off.
The only real problem is one the fed creates for itself when they put the belt on one of these people. Having the Rock disappear for a few months immediately after losing the Title on a Pay-Per-View, only to come back a few month later and do the whole thing over again seems lame.

But still, would you rather have the wrestler out of the ring doing something that might benefit you (Rock's movies drumming up publicity for the WWE), or have someone active on your roster who doesn't appear on cards because they have the clout behind the scenes.

Nice topic, I personally have a problem with a part time wrestler. I mean the build then disappear just to build again get pretty old fast.

I guess I'm oldschool, and just talking personally. But I like my guys on top to do houseshows and make the rounds. I didn't like special treatment in WCW with the main eventers and I don't like it when the WWE does it.

I'm not exactly sure it's the same thing.

I like that Dusty's still all kayfabe about Dustin and Cody towards the end of the interview. Good stuff, though, for sure!
