Okay, I just finished reading a thread about Steve Austin, and more than one poster has said in the past that they will never support him or his wrestling again because of his outside the ring exploits with Debra.

Then I came to a thread where mostly everybody is saying that Jeff Hardy's personal lifestyle (the always exciting sexual preference question) doesn't affect their enjoyment of his in-ring work.

Then you have someone like Triple H, who is maligned much of the time because of his personal relationship with the head writer/booker.

So which is it? Are we ultimately swayed in our opinion of a wrestler by that wrestler's out of the ring exploits? Can we truly keep a wrestler's personal life separate from their in-ring ability? If we as a IWC read about Kurt Angle or Chris Benoit being charged with child abuse, should we discount their wrestling accolades because of it?

I think one should be able to seperate some aspects of an entertainer's personal life from their job, but there is a line to be drawn. I think it's entirely up to you to draw it,though.

Also, I think the IWC has jumped all over Austin for no reason. We don't know anything about what happened, yet he has been painted as some wife beating monster. Who knows that Debra wasn't be an absolutely horrid bitch and hitting him, until he had enough and smacked her once?

Jeff Hardy may or may not prefer sex with men. HHH is sleeping with a very attractive and rich woman. Steve Austin beat his wife.

For some reason, the Austin thing sticks out. There's nothing WRONG with what Jeff or HHH does in his personal life. There is A LOT wrong with beating one's wife.

If it was an isolated incedent, there is room to forgive him. If it was a regualr thing, I will lose my respect for him. I haven't made my decision yet, because I think there are a lot of facts we don't know.

If a wrestler were a child abuser, I for one, would call for their removal from WWE (Hopefully, he'd be in JAIL).

I agree with the Sham on many levels, but I have the feeling that if Austin came back and had good matches, cut good promos, I'd begin liking him again. I guess it all comes back to separating the character from the man himself. I've lost tons of respect for Steve Williams, the man, but, when push comes to shove, I'm still going to enjoy Steve Austin, the character. However, I still don't think he's going to come back, so it's a moot point for me anyway.

Wouldn't who someone like or dislikes and for what reasons pretty much be an individual decision based on personal tastes and preferences?

Of course, I'm not sure the examples you bring up are necessarily morally inconsistant. Most people think beating one's wife is wrong, pretty much for any reason (self-defense is the only valid reason I can think of, and I doubt Debra could be much threat with just her hitting, and being a horrid-bitch doesn't threaten one's well-being), thus the response. Also, most people think that there is major conflict of interest when a worker sleeps with someone with power, such as the boss's daughter. Some may even be able to relate to that situation at their own workplace. Thus the negative response. However, most people don't really care about sexual preference, especially when you keep that aspect private, thus the lack of any backlash.

I think we could start an overly long thread debating that issue, so I won't start it. (I didn't just do so, did I?)

I don't know about the rest of you, but my criteria for keeping wrestlers' personal lives and in-ring work separate is that they themselves do the same thing. That's why Jeff Hardy's sexual orientation is not even a concern of mine. That's why I can forgive Steve Austin for snapping under pressure and hitting Debra. And that's why I can't forgive Triple H for using his relationship with Stephanie to hold back and destroy the careers of more talented workers.

Here, here... HHH is using his relationship in that way and others. Remember the management speech given to the RAW crew a couple of months back? HHH was the only active wrestler to speak. HHH always talks about the need to put newer guys over, but he never has to because he can go to his woman and get it changed.
Already, there are rumors out that he thinks Brock is not the man to carry the title... that he has already told the "writing team" that "an established star" (read: HHH) should hold the belt... why can he do things like this, if it's true? Because he's popping "Daddy's little girl".

I think Triple H's situation could be solved by more people speaking out. For example, sure, if SPike Dudley and Lilian Garcia speak out during production meetings, they'll be told to 'stick to oh say can you see and shut the fuck up'. But honestly, if Edge, Booker T, RVD, Eddy Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Bradshaw, Chris Jericho, and a whole crop of other guys spoke out against what everyone here seems to be convinced is happening, well what's Vince going to do, de-push the entire roster? Bury the whole company? He can't be that stupid.

Triple H's relationship w/ Steph bleeds over into TV, and that makes TV suck. On the last Smackdown she commented on Triple H going to RAW and being her loss. At Vengeance, Triple H got his cock stroked by the writing team as Steph and Bisch fawn over him for fifteen minutes like 1958 teeny-boppers at an Elvis concert. Only problem with that? Priscilla wasn't writing the story of Elvis' career. But I still think it some of the boys nutted up and said this is bullshit, Vince would HAVE to listen. It's a matter of trust and intelligence. There is no way that Vince would fire or punish all those guys. He can attack one of them, but he can't do it to all of them without putting the company out of business. And since he's failed at every other thing he's ever tried to do, you can bet Vince wants to keep this wrestling thing he's so good at going as long as he's drawing breath.

I know it's easier said than done, for the whole roster to band together like this, and it takes courage most human beings don't posess, but that's what it would take to fix things.

Anyone ever consider that the reason HHH gets pushed so hard is that he was a major player in wrestling's creative and financial boom about two years back? Sure, he's probably got some backstage sway, but if YOU were in the position to get a nice fat pay raise at work, wouldn't you kiss a little ass? I'm sure Vince and co are more than willing to push the guy anyway, and the only REAL problem I have with the guy (and I suspect this is true of you, too, Texas) is his personal vendetta with Jericho. Too much onscreen evidence of that is there for it to be plausibly deniable-the guy just seems to like aggravating poor Chrissy. But apart from that I got no real problem with Trips. He's being pushed as a main eventer right now. So? He IS a main eventer. He's one of the few established names still around. So why shouldn't they include him in big angles? There's gotta be a cushion period for making big changes such as introducing new waves of stars. You can't just abandon all of your old maneymakers and dive in headfirst. Thus, the old guard are still around to keep things rolling whilst the youngsters find their feet. Are they the focus of the show? Hell no, the focus of the show has been Brock Lesnar for MONTHS now. But if you insist on seeing Triple H's mere presence as him dominating the show, then nothing I say is gonna change your mind.

Triple H's mere presence as you put it has frequently consisted of dominating several segments and making much of the roster look weak. If mere presence is a twenty-minute clusterfuck of two smackdown segments where he takes his sledge to cameras and bullies Vince McMahon than you'll excuse me for cursing his mere presence. If mere presence is burying Jericho while he searches for HBK's attacker, taking up segment after segment making the rest of the roster look like pussies, (all three unamericans quiver at the sledgewielder as if b/n the three of them he can't be taken down) including babyface Booker T, thank you'll excuse me if I don't want to tolerate his mere presence. If mere presence is coming out and talking down to the monster Brock Lesnar who both Rock and Hogan (two men who have drawn more money than Triple H could ever dream to) have busted their asses to get over, than once more, forgive me oldschoolhero, if I don't want Trips' presence on my tv anymore.

Especially when that presence comes with unwarranted pushes as a top guy when he can't perform as a top guy. Say what you will about Hogan, but even with the belt they never made him look like he could hang...he never once defended the belt cleanly. And Triple H can't hang, people don't buy him anymore as MSG proved to us last night, and he should accept a mid-card role to redevelop that perception and credibility with the audience, unless he's planning to put someone over...which I doubt he is.

Isn't it possible that the reason the midcard/upper midcard wrestlers haven't formed a "union" of sorts and trashed HHH is because there is nothing to fight?

Maybe WWE viewers who have a problem with HHH should form their own union and fight the good fight, because it might be possible they're the only ones who feel this way.

The thing that pissed me off about HHH is that his & Steph's history is the ONLY THING THAT GETS COVERED. Forget the countless Jericho/Benoit/Angle wars. Or the countless HHH/Rock wars. Whenever they're in the ring, the announcers just go "OH...yeah, they're fighting..."

Then again, Chris Benoit was popping the booker's WIFE and got seriously depushed because of it. Then he got fed up and left. So now, effectively, HHH IS Kevin Sullivan, because for all intents and purposes he is a booker...and that sucks. Because RAW gradually becomes the HHH Show, and that's not what we want to see now. Maybe in 1999 or 2000, but not now. If/when Austin comes back, I'll welcome him back with open arms.

About HHH. He does hold down the newer talent yes. But does he do it in a way that costs them money? As wrestling fans we all like to think the WWE title is important but does Spike really care who the champ is? If HHH is champ and all the wrestlers get a slightly bigger check won't most be happy?
Of course the upper midcarders will hate him because they would make more money if he didn't hold them down. Booker T, RVD, and Benoit could all make more money if HHH retired for good. And don't forget Jericho who's career has been damaged by HHH.
So I don't really know how the rank and file feel about HHH. And really neither does anyone else here.
I do hate the fact that he is fucking INVINCEABLE. Boring as hell with his," I am that damn good" interviews.
About Stephanie hasn't she screwed like 5 WWE employees? If I remember the Fink and Kevin Dunn are 2 people she banged. So why shouldn't she hook up with HHH? She is to involved in the WWE to have an outside life and apparently the McMahon family is pretty horny is real life too. And Steph is a lot better looking than Chyna.

Is it possible to have a thread around here that doesn't turn into trashing HHH? How is it that we all KNOW what goes on behind the scenes? To me, this is all innuendo and rumor without any substance whatsoever. Do we have any PROOF about his evil deeds? And don't give me that Jericho crap.

That being said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Dahak's speculation about Stephanie's sex life. She screwed the Fink? And who is Kevin Dunn? Who else is on that list?

So, you're honestly saying you could forgive Austin for hitting Debra (if it actually happened, as if the fact that she was bruised and battered WASN'T in the police report, and it is), but you can't forgive Triple H for dating the human wonderbra? That's moronic. There's evidence for one of the cases above, none for the other. You can't condemn Austin for there not being any evidence of him hitting Debra, but you can for Triple H porking Stephanie and supposedly (supposedly because OldSchoolHero is right, he's a main eventer, he was before he got with Steph) pushing himself? Okay, man. Whatever.

Triple H hatred has gotten out of hand around here. Can we go one thread without anyone crying, bithcing or complaining about the guy? (reads thread title) Oh, wait. Continue crying.

That needed to be said, anyway I don't care about Triple H's backstage politics enough for it to diminish my enjoyment of a whole show. Cause I don't watch WWE for what's happening behind the scenes, I come to see some performers perform. As long as Trips can put on a good show I could care less about him bangin' Stephanie. Now him "supposedly" holding talent down I don't believe can be argued accurately. We only know so much from what is reported to us. And we all know that the news can warp a story into something interesting to sell it. So I'm not saying he is doing it, and I'm not saying he is not. I just need more proof.

Now about Jeff's sexual preference I just have this to say, SWEET CREAM ON A ICE CREAM SANDWHICH WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! That "hanky code" I believe is a mixup. I had a bandanna/headrag hanging out my pocket a couple of times and didn't think it meant I was gay. That's a bit of a regular style here in the dirty south that has no meaning behind it, so I was wearing it for look, then I clicked on the link CRZ had up. I think the guys who are looking at Jeff maybe do a stumble, or pop up from a move, and saying it looks "dainty" are studying the guy a little too hard! They might need to question their sexual preferences too.

You remember When Juventud use to get a guy in the corner, give him 10 count punches, and did the juvi driver signal with his crotch in the guys face. That might of been a sign that he was gay.

Or Remember when Road Dogg did the dry hump before he pump handle slammed his opponent, it was a sign to say he was fruitier than a Tropicana juice mixer.

Speaking of DX you know why they always said "suck it" right? They knew it was majority guys in the audience so they we're secretly telling the majority male audience to "Suck them", yep all of DX we're DooDoo Chasers.

My suspicion is that this is pretty much what Austin did. Now that people are down on Austin, they seem to be assuming that he said "I'm way too good to job to a punk like Lesnar" and skipped town. I personally highly doubt this. To me, Austin's dissatisfaction seemed to be tied to the reunification of the Clique. (Umm, plus apparently the disintegration of his personal life bleeding over into his work.) The timing of his pissed-off-ness seemed to be tied to the nWo coming in. He clearly didn't want to work with them in any way, and I bet he was not at all thrilled they were even there at all. Also, the report was that Austin complained about HHH being in booking meetings, so all wrestlers were banned... and now that Austin's gone, guess waht, HHH is back in the meetings.

Can I prove that friction with HHH and the Clique was the basic reason Austin left? Nope! Can you prove that it WASN'T the reason? Nope! But the truth will out, eventually.

I wonder if HHH would get fired for no-showing twice?
