Ticktock. Ticktock. Tick...tock. Last I heard, as soon as the east coast hits Friday, August 30th (that's really midnight the 29th...which is today) Major League Baseball's Players Association is on strike. What, praytell, happens to the D-Rays and Angels game? Yeah, I know, one of the last two teams to play in Major LEague Baseball will be the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Anyway, that's scheduled for a 7:05 start, which is fine. Well, it would be fine if they were playing Tampa where 7:05 is 7:05 Eastern, but they're out in California, so 7:05 Pacific is 10:05 Eastern, which means that in all likelihood, the game's not gonna end by midnight. I don't really wanna think about what's actually going to happen. If they stop the game right in the middle the fans are probably gonna do something a lot worse than what happened at the All-Star game. Ticktock. Ticktock. Tick...tock.

They WILL finish the game. The player's association is so worried about creating a bad scene that they are telling the players to NOT go to the stadium, or be anywhere near the stadium, unless they've heard specific word that there is no strike. They don't want television pictures of players leaving stadiums.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the strike is scheduled for 3:00 pm on the 30th. The issue shouldn't come up for the D-Rays/Angels game unless they have the longest one in history (which would be an interesting historical footnote).
