We've all heard about the glass ceiling. We never thought the WWE would push the new kids and inject some fresh blood into the mix, but they did it. I don't think any of us actually expected the change of events that tonight woudl bring, and God bless them for it...

THEY LET COLE AND TAZZ CALL THE MAIN EVENT OF A PAY-PER-VIEW!

I almost started a "Holy Shit" chant just for that!

It's true.It's DANN True!

Are J.R. and Lawler getting worried yet. If not. They should be.

p.s. A year ago would you have thought that you would be happy with Michael Cole calling a main event.

MICHAEL BLOODY COLE!!!!

Hell, a few months ago I wouldn't have been happy with Michael Cole calling the PPV main event. The times, they are a changin'!

I loved the setup they had this year, though. It just made sense. Smackdown announcers call Smackdown, Raw announcers call Raw. In the case where it was mixed, it went to the team with seniority. This is probably the real logistical reason they moved the Raw announce table last month.

There was a single moment in the main event that showed why I am getting more and more into Tazz and Cole than JR and King. When the crowd split was beginning to assert itself, Tazz actually acknowledged it on the air. At WM it seemed like JR hated having to point out the booing of Rock, whereas here Tazz went right ahead and said what everyone at home thought they were hearing anyhow.

Personally I'd love to see JR and Tazz working the PPV's, as I still think JR brings the drama better than anyone else, but Lawler sucks monkey anus these days.

*WWE finally has each brand's announcers calling their own brand's matches and each brand's refs officiating their own brand's matches. This should have been done since day one of the split. Better late than never.

*Cole & Tazz should have called the IC title match and a Smackdown ref should have officiated it. A minor adjustment, but the champ is a Smackdown guy, so his brand should call and officiate the match. This also would have evened up the matches for each brand's announce team at 4 for JR & King and 4 for Cole & Tazz. Instead we had to listen to JR and King call 4 matches in a row.

Good to see that Cole and Tazz called the main event. I think that's the first main event that JR hasn't called in years.

I think at WM 18, it was more of JR letting his personal hatred for Hogan interfere with his calling of the match. He just couldn't bring himself to put over Hogan. Well as it turns out, Hogan didn't need the great JR to "make" his match. 65,000 fans and a completely unselfish and perceptive Rock (he sold the back-scratcher like a chairshot) made that match pure electricity.

JR lost his fastball two years ago and the King is a complete joke. JR has blown it from the talent management side of the business. He allowed his "good friend" Steve Austin to walk out the door, pausing long enough to cover his own ass and stab Stone Cold in the back. Also on the list: alienating Foley, the signing of Nash and Hall and the complete inability to sign Goldberg. I'm glad Cole/Tazz are getting thier shot, I've heard enough of "By God!" and "Puppies!" to last a lifetime.

I doubt the inability to sign Goldberg is completely JR's fault. They probably wanted him to go somewhere else first to make sure he could still work. And as ratings are slowly starting to get better as the storylines improve, signing Goldberg might actually be more trouble than it's worth.

Screw Goldberg. Personally, I don't think there's inability on anyone's part. WWE doesn't want some mediocre over talent who could be a has been who hurts people, first of all. Imagine his first match back Goldberg kicks Kurt Angle in his head and Kurt is done from wrestling with a concusssion? Think that one over. I'd turn the channel and NEVER turn back. Period.

JR still has it. Has he lost a step? Maybe, occasionally. Is he STILL the best? I think so.

As for King, I like King. Say what you want, when you take the yaks off the show, the guy gets down to business. The whole Michaels/Triple H match-up him getting pissed at Michaels for kicking out was classic. King's STILL good as Paul Heyman was, I don't care what you guys say. Say what you want, JR and King are still a good broadcast announce team. And I REALLY like Cole and Tazz, and I saw them grow into their own on that main event last night and that's what it was about. Friendly competition between the brands, and I for one thought it worked.

With Brock, they already have a "Goldberg" who respects the business and has a desire to improve. What the hell would they pick up that WCW reject for?

Just remember that JR has no real authority over who is hired or fired. The final say in all talent matters is still Vince.

Edit: Although I did not get the PPV, having Cole and Tazz call the main event was nice. I have been saying for months that JR and Lawler need to step aside and make way for younger announcers that fit the target demographic. It seems like last night they finally began passing the torch.

Exactly... IMHO, they don't need Goldberg. They needed him during the horrifying Invasion angle. They don't need him now or in the future. I like the heading they are on. To add this guy now would be wrong. Let him stay in Japan, or, even worse, let him go to NWA/TNA.

Tazz has made Cole about a THOUSAND times better. I really enjoy their work - you can see the effort they're putting in, and it's definately paying off.

If anyone was actually doing that in WWE we wouldn't have plot holes the size of Madonna's vagina, now would we? By which I mean abnormally large plot holes.
