OK, here goes a big question.... one of my best friend's little brothers who is also a good friend started to smoke weed this summer. I don't smoke, and have never tried, but (obviously) I have lots of friends who do and I don't really care, pot isn't the HORRIBLE thing the media makes out to be--but smoking is the best thing for you, but to get back to the topic, my friend started to smoke a little, like at parties and rock concerts and the norm.
Well, he keeps smoking more and more and starts smoking like twice a day and sneaking out to smoke, and it becomes a huge part of his life. I still liked the guy, he's cool and a friend, and he was still normal, it really wasn't messing him up or anything, until one night after a concert a bunch of our friends get busted for smoking and he was terrified that his parents were going to find out, he swore off drugs, and stopped.
Fast foward to today (this was a month ago) and he is smoking again. But not only that..... now he is a dealing too. He is starting to drift away from his old friends, who were cool, nice guys, he now is moving towards a really, REALLY bad crowd.
My question to Weinerville is, what can I, and my other friends (Including the guy's older brother) do? We have thought of everything from telling the guy's parents, to stealling his stash away until he stops dealing, to even bringing him in the basement and having a little intervention. The guy who is now dealing's older brother is tired of him dealing and sneaking around for pot and is afraid he will move into worse stuff -- the guy's brother is ready to stretch him out with some amateur wrestling stuff if he doesn't stop. Once again Weinerville, how can I help a good friend who went from just a simple pot-smoker to a dealer now?

I like the basement intervention idea. Has anybody said anything to him about it yet, or are you guys still trying to decide how to start?

Try the intervention. If that doesn't work beat the shit out of him until he realizes how much of an idiot he is...

A month ago we talked to him about how most of have smoked before (I haven't, but obviously most of my friends have) and how he's just going to get in trouble and stuff, and he took it to heart and kinda broke down. Last night his older brother and I, and our "ringer" (a guy who squats 550 and benches 350) were telling the guy to stop and he just laughed and said he will stop when his hockey season kicks up again. One of my friends who got really messed up for a bit due to drugs and depression, and now has cleaned up except for the occasional smoke-out is going to tell the dealing guy his story and we are going to see if that helps, but we fear this time he won't listen to us.... it sucks, but hopefully other people on the board have had a dumb friend like this who had similar problems and knows what to do. It's sad because the guy who is dealing is super nice and funny, and he can probably get a good scolarship due to his awesome hockey skills, but if he keeps going on his path, bye-bye to hockey.

Slestak pointed out my friend may not be the best one to use.... most of my friends don't smoke, so one of them would be better. It's just that the guy who I wanted to use, used to do more than simple pot, he used EVERYTHING and was dealing too, but he stopped, got his grades up, got focused and got a scolarship for football and is a great guy. He did smoke weed half a year ago at a huge party, but he is not a regular user and could help a little. Personally the biggest problem I see with weed is that everyone I know who starts it says they will only do it once in a while and then ends up doing it every day.

If your friends still smoke, it's going to be pretty tough. Their lifestyles aren't going to be much of an example. The intervention is the way to go, but if you want him to quit, your whole group is going to have to quit.

I smoked weed regularly for about 5 years (5-6 times a week average. For a time, it was 3-4 times a day). Fortunately, I was never arrested. I quit because I was tired of being a loser. I had dropped out of college and was working at a fried-chicken shack. My friends and I spent all our free time getting stoned and playing Sony.

Do I think using marijuana is "evil"? No. But I think for most people it's pretty much a dead-end lifestyle. I also think that telling his parents, using phsyical force, and just stealing his stash isn't going to do anything but drive him away from you and your group of friends.

I was editing my profile and my reply to this thread popped up as a quote and I realized that I had completely misread the title question: Is it inappropriate to use the word "wigger"?
