Just an angle idea that ran through my head...

Kane's return is imminent. Why not do a good old bidding war to get the Smackdown/Heat rivalry going a bit? Have Eric and Steph try to contact him but get continually blown off. Eventually, when they do come face to face, all he says is "Get me X-Pac. I want X-Pac". So, they decide, if they can sign X-Pac, they sign Kane too. This does a couple of things: 1) Gives a place for X-Pac outside of the nWo and 2) Elevates X-Pac at least for a while (Hey, I don't like X-Pac either, but he does serve a purpose).

X-Pac gets signed by Uncle Eric, who makes a grand contract signing spot in the ring with the red carpet etc. Not long after the ink is on the paper, Kane comes out and destroys both Eric and X-Pac. This sets up a PPV match between the two.

The PPV match is a squash, all Kane. Kane no-sells almost everything and destroys X-Pac. X-Pac goes into "injury" to disappear for a few weeks.

Later, X-Pac starts showing up just to interfere in Kane's matches. Kane starts losing to everyone thanks to X-Pac. Soon, Kane can't take it and he wants a rematch in a cage (maybe Hell in the Cell if the angle is hot enough). They meet again in a cage at the next PPV. Kane and X-Pac put on a good show and bloody each other up. X-Pac squeaks out a victory thanks to a timely distraction from Triple H.

The next couple of weeks go on, with X-Pac palling around with Trips and the Undertaker consoling Kane and telling him he is too focused on X-Pac. The two teams clash in some singles matches, eventually culminating in a tag match. The match goes back and forth and finally Kane and X-Pac stand in the ring together. They go for a big stare down, circle the ring, then stand up and give each other an "I respect you" handshake. They turn on their respective partners, reforming the Kane/X-Pac team.

Next give them a run at the tag titles before X-Pac bows out to retire. Allows X-Pac to go out on top and keeps Kane in the spotlight. After this, Kane could go on to a nice singles run. I personally want to see Kane have another go with the Undisputed Title.

Comments?

Great idea. Just one thing: if you tried to submit this to the booking committee, how would you respond when HHH asks you, "So where's the part where I destroy and bury everybody?"

Edit: Good idea though.

Not a bad idea, although I can't stand X-Pac normally. But when he was with Kane, he was a little more tolerable. My one question is, is there that big a rivalry between Smackdown and Heat?

Tag titles are on RAW, dude, not Smackdown! ANd personally I think they should keep on doing what they're doing with Lesnar, and not deviate from that plan.

It does kinds suck though, that the guy who stole Kane's mask and paraded around with it while Kane was out with an injury is now gone and, from what JR says, is probably not coming back.

Not that I WANT to see X-Pac, but one of the few cases of long-term booking is now in the toilet.

"Serves a purpose" and "X-pac" should never be used in the same sentence, paragraph, or posting. They are mutually exclusive terms.
