Any Starblazers fan's here? This recent talk of the Best 50 cartoon characters got me thinking how (IMO) this is the Best Cartoon...EVER.

Anyone remember Wildstar, Conroy (my BOY!), Captain Avatar, and the other classic characters? How those Black Tiger squadrons eh? And don't forget that Wave Motion Gun; that freakin ruled! And those Dastardly Gamelons with their Radioactive planet bombs! Deslok, Deslok, Deslok!!!

Does anyone have the series on tape? I have season one, but I heard the quality of season two sucked with bad audio and/or video. I'm 30 years old and I am forever marking out BIGTIME to the music of this show. Rather than portray me as a loser, I think it shows how strong the music is and how it possesses a timeless, enduring quality.

WE WILL RETURN!!!!

Starblazers is cool, but it's not my favorite by far. Anyway, I know that a lot of the series (maybe even all of it) was recently released on DVD, and maybe VHS as well.

Season 1 - The Quest for Iscandar is available on DVD in a 6 disc set for $125 on starblazers.com. I bought each disc individually last year. It should be noted that there are very few extras on the discs, but I didn't buy the set for the extras.

Only the first 5 discs of Season 2 - The Comet Empire, are currently available individually. I'm going to wait for the complete set before I pick that one up.

Also, the Space Battleship Yamato movie was just released last month as well. I'll most likely get that at some point too.

Needless to say I like the series. :)

OMG

I remember as a kid running home from school to watch Star Blazers and was hooked by the countdown.

Anyone remember how it took them like 250 days to reach Iscandar but only about 100 to get back?

Deslok was so cool.

I also loved starblazers, especially the Comet Empire. Didn't they smash through the moon?
What is Battleship Yamato's relationship to Starblazers? Where do you get it?

Space Battleship Yamato was what it was called in Japan. The company that dubbed it in english and put it on in the USA renamed it Star blazers, as well as renaming some characters.

It was awesome when the Comet Empire blew up the moon as a show of strength. Anyone remember when the earth was about to surrender to the Comet Empire? the leaders were in the boat and on their way to the comet's city, when they heard the Argo/Yamato was coming up and the boat just spun around and sped away. Black Tiger squadrons came out of nowhere and the Comet people were like "WTF!!!" haha, big time marking out for me. (as i write this the triumphant battle music is playing in my head, i love that show)
Voyager Entertainment has the rights to the Show in the USA i think. Their website is www.starblazers.com i bought some stuff from them and they seem pretty decent. one tape in a five tape set i had was bad, and they replaced it with no hassles at all. I had heard the tapes for season two were of bad quality because the masters were bad and was wondering if anyone had seen them. season two rules with Sgt. Knox and the space marines.

I remember running home to watch this as well, and it was followed by the always awesome Force Five, which was basically five different shows, one for each day of the week. I only remember that Danguard Ace was the one on Mondays, but the other ones were quite good as well.

The special bonus for me was telling my little brother during every episode of Starblazers that, no, he couldn't be Wildstar when he grows up, and no, he can't be Wildstar when we all play Starblazers in the neighborhood when the shows were over. Good times.

I loved the show as a kid.

You can get "Quest for Iscandar" at www.deepdiscountdvd.com for something like $89.

Matthew: You would've loved it, David. A week in a foreign country, strange people, strange customs...
Dave: Oh, I know what you mean. I've been to Canada.

OK - I have a VERY POOR way of dealing with this situation. It's immature and passive-agressive, but it once worked in the exact same situation. (about 10 years ago, when I was less mature and more passive agressive)
