I plan on trying to consistently link to back[slash] content so you get a chance to see what people were talking about on (around) this day (x) years ago - not only to embarrass the original authors but to remind us of our past history. Plus, it's fun! (Hopefully for you, too!)

Y'all are welcome to scan the archives in advance and suggest old columns for inclusion:

August 2000

I would really enjoy five good reasons why you would disagree with my column from back then. One of them can't be because of the poor grammar used either, I was 13 back when I wrote it. Hopefully Chris Hyatte doesn't notice that. (Get it?)

I can actually say though I may never forget the segment of Tommy Dreamer drinking toilet water. That was absolutely histerical, and will forever be remembered when his name comes up. Besides that though, I still agree with every word said.

I don't know if I can give you five, but I will give you my reasons.

Why do I disagree with your column you ask. I think Tommy Dreamer really busts his ass out there everytime. What Dreamer lacks in talent he makes up for in effort. Effort really goes a long way for me. A guy can have all the talent in the world, but if he's mailing it in and doesn't want to be there, chances are I don't want to watch him.

In Dreamer's case here is a guy that lacks talent, moreso now than in his early days, and yet I still have fun watching his matches. He's never going to do a shooting star press and he might not be able to do a *simple* move correctly anymore, but he'll make a Singapore Cane shot look like a million bucks. He'll give you a great blade job in a filler match. Tommy Dreamer might not even be able to preform in a 5 minute wrestling match anymore, but he'll turn it up a notch for a 5 minute garbage brawl. This is just the Dreamer of today.

The Dreamer of yesteryear, the ECW Tommy Dreamer, The Innovator of Violence will not be forgotten in 15 years. Here's a man who started out as a joke, but found his niche feuding with Cactus Jack in the Extreme vs Anti Extreme feud.

Later he moved on to his legendary feud with Raven. This feud alone will cement him in wrestling folklore for years and years to come. Tommy Dreamer vs Raven was one of the first adult themed storylines in wrestling. It had a rivalry, women, sex, betrayal, defeat, longevity, and finally victory.

Soon after he became the ECW poster child. He had loyalty and love to his promotion which in the end died with a whimper. No one looks down on the Undertaker for never leaving the WWF to jump to WCW or Sting vice versa. Tommy Dreamer is a man who stuck to his guns and he will be remembered down the road because of it. It's hard to find an ECW video that doesn't feature Dreamer in one form or another. Tommy Dreamer may fade out with newer generations, but he is apart of wrestling fokelore now. It will be tough to forget him...even a whole 15 years down the line.

Having never really seen his ECW run (I never was a fan of it, don't throw stones), I have to say that Dreamer reminds me of a jobber of old. And a great one at that. He goes out, busts his but, can put on an entertaining match, and I have never heard of him whining. I say let him go out week after week and get slaughered by upper-card talent. He is never going to hold the Undisputed title, so the only way we will ever see him on a regular basis is if he is used as Main-Eventer fodder. And something tells me he would not care, he would just be happy to be part of the show. Bravo to him for it too!
Sure I will remember him, like I remember Barry Horawitz. And Mike Sharp.
