Last night, Cards vs Braves.... both pitchers threw beautiful games.... and neither one got the win. That has to suck, as Moss did great, and Benes threw like it was 96 again (for him). Smoltz got the win as a Sheffield home run saved the game from extra innings.

It pissed me off that the Cardinals got an incredible game out of Benes-especially considering this is a guy who retired earlier this year, and isn't expected to give them more than 4-5 good innings a start-and then blew the lead when he left the game.

I'm a huge Braves fan, but I've always like Benes, and was happy he did so good. I felt bad that like you said, he pitched a great game after coming out of retirement for nothing. Benes normally has the Braves number anyway.

I read a blurb today either in the Post or in McPaper (can't find it online right now) that today is the first time since late April that the Friars are NOT on a pace to lose 100 games.
