Click Here Well actually you don't have to I copied the list already.

21. Gerald McBoing-Boing 22. Scooby-Doo 23. Underdog 24. Josie and the Pussycats 25. Heckle and Jeckle 26. Arthur 27. Winnie the Pooh 28. Felix the Cat 29. Mr. Magoo 30. George of the Jungle

Few surprises - SpongeBob SquarePants needs to pay his dues, he's in top 10 already puh-lease. The Grinch wasn't a series how can they compare to others that done show year after year. Cartman kicks ass ...Yaa for PowerPuff girls. I'm not a huge fan of Mickey Mouse, but the figure head of Disney is only 19.
Arther is pretty cool, he's pretty good new kiddie cartoon. Geroge of the jungle is cool... Not surprised thatRen and Stimpy only made it to 30 even though I think it should be Highter it had a short but amazing run. Mighty Mouse should be higher as well... Alvin, Woody Woodpecker and Tom & Jerry shouldn't be in the bottom 10. They deserve better.
Who should have made it - Speedy Gonzalez, Foghorn Leghorn, chilly willy is cute and worse of all NO HE-MAN.
(edited by Net Hack Slasher on 4.8.02 0432) I don't get it, everyone loves rats, but they don't want to drink the rats milk?
This list puts Daffy Duck below Spongebob Squarepants and Angelica Pickles. Doesn't matter what else it might say, any credibility it had is shot to all hell and never able to be redeemed.
You never know when you'll meet that special someone... the someone that's mysteriously blind to your flaws. or, you know, stupid enough not to realize that yes, you really are that cynical.
The list just seems to put too much weight on the current fads.... i mean who says spongebob is any more popular now then when some of the older characters hit their peak?
I've torn myself apart.... and tried to figure out why... but the only answer i was ever given... that really fits..... is the fact... that women are crazy.

Any list done is ALWAYS going to skew current. TV Guide listed Seinfeld as the No 1 show on TV, ahead of Lucy or the Honeymooners or Cheers or Cosby. The same goes for Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly or whomever.
Part of it is the short attention span of the writers and also readers. Part is that if you make a list made up of all old things, people would be less uninclined to buy the magazine/watch the tv show/ etc.
You're all so WONDERFUL. Why did they ever have to remove you from the continuity? You'd have made for MARVELOUS stories. You WILL make marvelous stories. And the FIRST story of the new world will be a story of REVENGE! -- The Psycho Pirate, Animal Man 23, May 1990.
I saw this, and it's very hard for me to make sense of what it is supposed to be ranking. Is it based on popularity? Influentialness? The quality of the show? The extent to which the show depends on that character? What exactly is it supposed to be? The whole idea of ranking characters makes much less sense to me than ranking shows, for some reason.
BTW, whatever it means, I dunno how you come up with #s 34 and 42. The Bill appeared once in one cartoon to sing one song, and Wonder Woman has never been a cartoon character worth mentioning.
gonna build a giant drill and bore straight into hell releasing ancient demons from their sleep-forever spell so they can walk upon the earth and get recituated and run the diet pill pyramid that MC Pee Pants has created
I have the feeling that if Spongebob wasn't in the top 10, people would be screaming about the glass ceiling and how the established stars aren't willing to do the job, and that Double B is holding him down.
A cartoon that was featured on the OLD Captain Kangaroo shows (the woodchuck in the woodbin, The Town Clown, Magic Drawing Board, Captain wore a black coat instead of a red blazer. This was before the Treasure House was reduced to a post-modernist hell in the 70's, but I digress).
Tom Terrific had his faithful dog, Mighty Mannfred; and his main nemesis, Crabby Appleton. Here's a link if you're interested in reading more about it:

Uhm, someone explain THIS one to me, please? Granted the newer ones sucked, but the "first-gen" cartoons (prior to 1958) have won a few Academy Awards if I am not mistaken. So, how did luminaries such as a talking sponge and a singing chipmunk beat T&J out?
On a side note, I wonder if the "Space Ghost" being nominated is the campy '60s cartoon or the much funnier talk show...
"Alright, now I'd like to show you one of my favorite cartoons. It's a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a sadistic roadrunner, who mocks him and laughs at him as he is repeatedly crushed and maimed. I hope you enjoy it!"
Ren and Stimpy, at no time, has ever made anything that could be considered the best anything, anywhere. That was a terrible show, aside from the Log promos.
Gerald McBoing Boing is, IMO, not that great, but it did win the Oscar for Best Animated Short sometime in the 1950s.
I'm not sure they needed to rank Supes, Bats and WW separately. It would have been more effective to rank "Super Friends" as one unit and open two more spaces.
(Yes, I know that partially negates B:TAS, one of the most influential toons of the last decade.)
And, we have Pikachu and not Astro Boy or Derek Wildstar or Marine Boy?
I also assume that this is only for TV. This would explain the lack of most Disney characters, as well as lots of anime characters like Akira/Kenada.

[/lame joke]
Damnit,You stole my joke:).
I have one question, where's Brak ?
I don't have too much to say that already hasn't been said except Tom and Jerry should definately be higher than #50. If it wasn't for T&J we wouldn't have a lot of cartoons we have today.
They also forgot "The Ranting Swede" from "Sheep in the Big City". :)

T.V. Guide is the ultimate whore of the magazine industry. Seriously every third week they have some 4 different "collector" issues. WTF does T.V. Guide have to do with the Beatles or Star Wars? Then the way they jack up their price for the only 2 issues I get a year the new episodes and returning episode issues pisses me off. About the list it is skewed to the current shows. But there are a lot of shitty shows on that list. Josie is even lamer than Scooby Doo and Poppie is boring. And as someone else said what show worth crap was Wonder Woman in? Super Friends or Justice League. I doubt it's JL since it only premiered this year and SF sucked. I can't believe that Wonder Woman in her invisible jet is a better character than either Batman or Superman in their most recent series. Well, probably the list had too many males so they threw her in there for PC reasons.
I just have 13 words for you. How much wood would a woodchuch chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Where's Skeletor? Where's Cobra Commander? Where are the cartoons I grew up with?
Put me in the 'Ren & Stimpy is overrated' category. I think sometimes people confuse 'cutting edge' with 'just plain stupid' (ie Tom Green). If I want cutting edge, I will take South Park anyday over Ren & Stimpy. Beavis & Butthead are too high, though I like them OK.
This reminds me of the silly VH1 top 100 countdowns that they spread out over a week every few months (last was one-hit wonders). Just like here, there's never any information provided on how the rankings are determined and an obvious attempt to balance old and new. These things need to be taken with a serious grain of salt or I need to break things in frustration.
And, no way should Bart and Lisa be lumped together. Despite all of the nuances to her character, she's keeping him out of an automatic top ten spot.
