Well, I just shelled out 10 bones tonight to see what the fuss was about. Unfortunately, I should have listened to CRZ when he called it "$10 Thunder". I feel like it was even worse than that, because of all the crap that was stockpiled on it. Let's look at this week.
GOOD: -Jerry Lynn/Low Ki: This was an awesome match and I'm stumped as to why the WWE never picked Low Ki up. His arsenal kicks ass and he's got those kicks that make a guy cringe. Put him against Tajiri and I'm a happy man.
-AJ Styles/Elix Skipper: Maybe some people won't agree with me, but I dug this match. I liked Styles' counter at the end and actually thought Skipper had landed on his neck! Good match that should make people wonder what the hell the WWE was thinking by not signing Styles when they had the chance.
-The Truth: Call him K-Krush, K-Kwik, Ron Killings or whatever you want, but this guy rules! Top notch promo!
-Sonny Siaki: CRZ wasn't kidding when he said this guy's a younger version of The Rock. This kid's gonna be big someday! Now if only they can decide whether he's a heel or a face...
BAD: -HE'S GOT A GUN!!: I call it the worst segment in pro wrestling this year and I stick by that. A gun should NEVER be in any kind of wrestling storyline whatsoever. It was stupid when Pillman did it and it was even stupider tonight. I can't believe I shelled out $10 for that. Is that what Russo finds entertaining?
-The Lynn/Low Ki ending: Ok...so Low Ki was about to win the match...Styles gets up to "help"...and turns on Lynn. Uh...AJ? LOW KI WAS ABOUT TO WIN THE MATCH!! You didn't have to run in!! I guess I'll say it before CRZ does in his recap tomorrow: "WHAT A SHOCKING SWERVE!!"
-Disco's segment: I paid $10 for THIS?!?!?!
-This isn't the BLOOD I had in mind: When I say I want blood, I don't mean having the Sinister Minister smear it on people's foreheads. Way to give me "Ministry of Darkness" flashbacks, guys.
-Bruce vs Miss TNA: I wonder if Allan Funk misses the days of Kwee-wee?
Mixed bag this week, but mixed bags won't have me coming back for $10 a week. Russo's not helping this product with his stupid skits and swerves. But I'm genuinely impressed with the talent. Low Ki, Lynn, Styles, Truth and especially Sonny Siaki all showed me that they can reach the top of the mountain someday. Let's hope this ship stays afloat long enough for them to get there.
And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!

I must agree....this has got to be worse then the two fatty's on RAW squashing the two oldies this past Monday.
I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok, I work all night and I sleep all day!
Not, really. Just had to say it. Hall doesn't do face bumps, which made his face bumps for the Truth's axekick and Jarrett's stroke onto the chair spot a but...awkward. Other than that the match was solid and they pulled out all the stops (from the back locker room) in the end.
Truth is solid gold. The guy is just awesome. Also, I think Marty Brown is future WWE material as well.
No Lawler this week was a lowpoint.
Disco's segement ruled, I laughed my ass off. If he does this "stupid bitches" act and gets smacked every week, I'll be happy.
Done West went on a ten minute rant that left me gasping for air. Did I say this guy was shitty? I take it back. This guy is BEYOND shitty, and I LOVE it. He did his HSN act for next weeks card and I haven't laughed that long in a looong time.
I hate AJ Styles. Little charisma, no mic skills and he can't sell for beans. Jerry Lynne however is awesome. These two have totally changed places for me since the feds inception. I still don't think Lynne's WWE material, but his match tonight with Lo-Ki was great. I'd give it ABOVE four stars, and maybe even call it GREATER (gasp) than Benoit/RVD.
TNA changed it's style this week and went back to what it does best, longer matches, with fewer talking segments. Highlights were Steamboat jumping back in the ring and doing his old act to face Jarrett and later telling the truth he was right about his second stint in the WWE (kind of).
I thought the show was solid and it made me a fan again. They did everything right, and I gotta' tune in next week just to see The Truth face Shamrock. I'll cross my fingers to see as to whether Truth wins or not. The show was solid and good as hell. Period. Also, Scott Hall/Jarrett's storyline is good, and just as good as any WWE feud. I just wish for MORE Hall mic time.
No love for the guy that called the Island Boys fatt'ys though. Those guys rule. AND they can wrestle.

Giving the 7/29 RAW match of Benoit/RVD 4 stars is like Whitney Houston calling Bobby Brown the "King of R&B." The "King of R&B"!? SHIT! Ribs and Barbecue! Rocks and Blunts! That match wasn't no four stars, just like he ain't the "King of R&B"! You ain't that high! Now, I'm not saying you're a crack-head. Just very...Crackish. (credit to "I Might Need Security" the Jamie Foxx comedy hour)
I'd also like to see The Truth and Shamrock. I'll mark out if they give The Truth the title. The problem is, I don't know if it's really worth my $10. I have a week to think about it, I guess.
I was ready to praise Lynn/Low Ki as greater than RVD/Benoit too until that stupid ending. I mean...Lynn was about to lose. Why the hell did Styles run in and turn on Lynn if he was ABOUT TO LOSE THE MATCH?! It didn't make any sense to me.
And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!
Man, they could probably charge $20 and I'd still get it next week. The Truth vs. Shamrock is the match I've been waiting for. I honestly think Truth wins the belt, Shamrock's not over, he doesn't fit in with this group at all. Meanwhile, I thought the Steamboat segment made Truth come off as more of a face, which isn't a bad idea. All I know is McMahon should pounce on this guy (along with Monty Brown) as soon as that federation folds up. Most of the wrestlers in the company are entertaining, but they wouldn't fit the WWE style, those 2 do, they've got mic skills, Truth can work, and Brown's got size and appears to be solid in the ring.
Oh well, Ron "The Truth" Killings vs. Ken "Worst NWA Champion Ever" Shamrock next week, I can't wait.
In the words of Don West, ONLY ON TNA!
Edit: Kinda realized I wasn't really on topic here, so let me say that this show was light years ahead of last week's abortion of a program. I said I wouldn't order it after last week, they sucked me in with Hall vs. Jarrett and I'm glad they did. This was my favorite one yet.

For the record...AJ Styles turned down the WWF. He didn't want to move to Cincinnati,OH for HWA or Louisville,KY for OVW while his wife was trying to work her way towards a college degree. They would've ended up shitting all over him anyway.

Yeah, well, until the guy learns how to sell consistently he doesn't deserve to be in WWE anyway. Just cause the guy has some flashy moves doesn't mean he's WWE material, there's hundreds of guys around the country that can flip around, Styles needs to develop a character and learn to put together a match, instead of a spotfest. Until then, I don't ever want to see him in a WWE ring.
As for the Truth's last name, I'm pretty sure it's Killings (thus the K- in both of his past names.)
Edit: I did some investigating, it's Killings.

I have to agree. They actually let the guy do his schtick. Well Guess What(Faarooq voice included), it was very shitty and it was hysterical all at once. They should do that every week. I laughed at Disco and Puppet pulling a gun too. They were both shitty as well, but they were supposed to be. That's what makes them so damn funny and enjoyable.
I wonder if Steamboat will wrestle Jarrett? I'm scared that he possibly meant to help Hall lose, and that Steamboat will become a heel. If Steamboat ever DID become a heel in NWA TNA, that would be the worst thing EVER.... the man survived his whole career as a face, let him stay that way.
I'm gonna get me an oversized guitar, gain 40 pounds, and become the next D!
Man when Don stood up at the beginning of that sales pitch, you knew it was ON!!!! About a minute in I think his face was a darker shade of red then his shirt. I haven't laughed that hard since i read hitchhikers guide to the galaxy 3 weeks ago.
Anyone have a word for word transcript of WHAT the hell he said? I couldn't even remember hearing most of it because I couldn't breathe.
Also, what REALLY made the segment was Ferrarra and Tenay just looking at the guy. Their expressions said it all, "Whatta' LOSER!" Tenay and Ferrarra couldn't believe it and to be in honest, I'm in tears right now just thinking about it. Seeing Wests actual words while picturing it just might kill me. If someone has away to get that online DO IT!
Also, anyone else notice what when the Reverend whatshisfuck was going on about the Audat or whatever when Ferrarra sneak in those classic lines:
FERRERRA: Audat? Well, if it has somethign to do with technical wrestling I'm sure Tenay knows! (Tenay doesn't say a word) Oh, wait, I think he's writing it down! He's probably gonna' go to proresuru.com and look it up later!
That one had me goin' too.

Does anyone know the origin or signifigance of the "Athena" signs I've been seeing on the PPV's every week? Is this just one of those obvious things that only *I* am not getting?
Maybe I'll just ask whoever's holding an "Athena" sign next week what the hell it means, cause I'm finally going!
Did anyone actually miss the Dupps this week?? I didn't...it's not that I think that their gimmick is bad, it's just a little 'overdone' if you know what I mean.
Comic Book Guy: "Last night's 'Itchy & Scratchy' was, without a doubt, the worst episode ever. Rest assured that I was on the Internet within minutes, registering my disgust throughout the world."
Also, I myself wondered who the hell Athena is. Those signs have been there since day one, which leads me to believe: 1. Athena's actually holding the sign, hoping she'll get on tv on an actul wrestling show 2. The girl looks good as hell 3. The girl can wrestle
Gentleman, place your bets. I'm betting on 2.

I went to 1wrestling and looked in the best indy valet poll contest, and an Athena is in there. There are pictures (and she is pretty cute), but here is the info they gave:
Ring Name: Athena
Current Organization: USA Championship Wrestling
Past Organizations: NWA Wildside, Power Pro Wrestling, NWA Worldwide, Music City Wrestling, Main Event Championship Wrestling, Southern Tennessee Wrestling
Years pro: 3

You know, my problem with the Puppet angle was that they didn't go FAR enough. I mean there's so much you could do with a midget with a gun. And maybe they're building up to something, but, I dunno, for a little person packing heat, it was just such a non-event.
I think what they SHOULD'VE done is, wire up some of the security guys with squibs. Then Puppet shoots them when they try to get the gun away from him, and they go down, clutching themselves and spouting blood.
I mean, what's an action-adventure series without the violent deaths of some of the extras?
In other news: I can't figure out if Elix is taking those really dangerous looking bumps on purpose, or if he just keeps landing on his head. That one at the end of the match this week may have been worse than the one where he slipped through the ropes and went to the floor during the 6-man. I mean, they look nice, but ouch.
Having a shooting on broadcast isn't a smart play on their part and never will be.
NWA needs to make waves, but more along the lines of it has to be "the wrestling show." It has to give the fans an alternative to what people AREN'T seeing on WWE. Which means give 'em matches and make 'em long and good.
A gun angle also can turn a lot of people off. I hate to bring this up because it's digging up a long dead horses carcass and hitting it with a stick, but in our Columbine sensitive society many would be turned off by a shooting on a wrestling show (I know I would, a shooting is going to far in a business where people are constantly asking whther or not things are shoots or works). In fact, had that happened I could see people walking out. I'll admit, I was shocked when the little bastard pulled a gun, but I breathed a sigh of relief when Jarrett unloaded on him with that chair two seconds later. So, I think any extreme angles, IE really coarse or vulgar storylines need to be put aside and never see the light of day. I'm not saying they can't do them, because a lot of people didn't like the Disco segment, me, I found it funny, and didn't think it was going too far. But, a lot of people tune out and turn off things in bad taste.
NWA needs to find it's strengths with the fans and exploit the hell out of them. I for one vote for Don West getting his own rant segment every week, that alone is worth the price of admission!
Respect the opinions of others. Unless they're unoriginal, uninventive morons with no class who use racial slurs and homosexual hate-language for insults. Then break the bastard down. It's 2002 ya'll. There's other races and gays a plenty out there in the real world. Get used to it.
The Truth has already had his chance with the WWE back when he was K-Kwik...he was over for like a month before the Road Dogg got fired then he just got stuffed into the Hardcore 24/7 run-in bit for like 6 months..

I would think that ROH would be incredibly pissed about this especially with the timing. The "significant moves behind the scenes" business is going to have to play itself out, but if nothing else it should be cool to see him in NXT.
