Theguy that lookslike an OWL with his Mullet Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now it looks like he will be kicked out the house and be serving jail time.
No fingerprints or wiretaps? He must have gotten caught red handed.
Anybody from th Ohio area have a Traficant story they can share? This guy acts hillarious.
There were a bunch of greate quotes in the CNN.com writeup of it.
"You could possibly expel a member that could get a new trial, and makes you look like a bunch of fools," he said. "If I am to be expelled under these circumstances, then God save the republic and God save the Constitution."
"If you expel me, I will go down in history as an expelled member -- but you know what? I have a very clear conscience. I am proud to be an American," he said.
There was another great one somewhere in which he compared himself to "Maximus Meridus Decimius" or some other mispronunciation of Russel Crowe's character in Gladiator, but I can't find that one at the moment.

Yeah, he said he'd pick up his sword like Maximus after busting out of jail (he'd smuggle in a file, shovel, explosives, etc.). He had some great lines at these hearings, especially about needing a colonoscopy afterwards.
The real question though is this: Who has better hair? Traficant(and his bad hairpiece) or Joe Hefley, the ethics committee chair(and his awful combover).
Seriously though, other members of congress have done just as bad(if not worse) and not gotten kicked out. In a related story there was only one member of the House to vote against expulsion....
Ok, wait. However shady the Clintons are, and believe me they are shady and slimy, what did they do to go to jail? They were investigated for years, and nothing substantial was found. get over it.
wait, he's vowing to get re-elected from prison...
isn't there a law or provision that prevents locked up felons from getting elected to congress?
not like i think he has a chance, but still...
"You can't fire a gun in a confined space! What are you tring to do, make us deaf?!" "Just get out of the chopper." "What?" "Get out of the chopper!" "The crops!?" - Jack Lemmon and James Garner, "My Fellow Americans", and the reason I say "The crops?" instead of "Huh?"

Nope. There is precedent. Matthew Lyon was re-elected from prison in 1800 after being jailed in violation of the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798(think of what's going on now, replace "terrorists" with "France" and you get the idea).
And yes, he'll probably be re-elected in November. His district loves him because he is one of them and has brought home a lot of the bacon to his NE Ohio district.

ok, let's say he does get re-elected to congress, couldn't just pass another resolution to expell him again?

Btw, the Socialist Candidate for President in 1920(right after WWI, not II) was Eugene Debs, who ran five times including his run from prison. His crime was opposing the war. See a theme?
gonna build a giant drill and bore straight into hell releasing ancient demons from their sleep-forever spell so they can walk upon the earth and get recituated and run the diet pill pyramid that MC Pee Pants has created
IMHO reasonable arguments can be made regarding whether the President of the Unites States should be elected by using electoral votes from each state, or by the nationwide popular vote totals.
