I am drawing a blank when I try to think of the answer to this.

Harlem Heat and the British Bulldogs?

Do any current tag teams (except maybe the Hardy Boyz) deserve this honor?

Depends on what you're looking for here. One can look at a team like The Road Warriors, Rock & Roll Express, etc. They're long-term partners who are strictly tag team techinicians. On the other hand, you've got teams like the Canadian Chrisses or the Two Man Power Trip who, though usually singles stars, were great together as well. Personally, I marked out more for Benoit & Jericho than I did for regular tag teams, and found their tag matches more entertaining.

BTW, don't forget The Rockers.

Arn Anderson and anybody else, but especially Ole. The whole "pick-a-limb-and-rip-it-in-half" thing they did was great.

Also, I really thought WCW's Cruiserweight tag titles would have been a great idea, if they had them in 97/98 when there was 30 some cruiser's instead of 10.

I always hear about the Midnight and Rock and Roll Express, but I always found them to be bland teams. But then I guess I can't argue with the question of "Greatest tag teams." I just always thought that the Road Warriors, Hart Foundation, and the Hollywood Blondes were just more entertaining and fun to watch.
Honorable mention goes to the New Breed for being ahead of their time with their trippy gimmick in the eighties.

THE NATURAL FREAKIN' DISASTERS, MAN

And by the looks of the Island Boyz, we may be calling them the best tag team in a few months. So far, they're bad-ass.

Also - Don't forget the Headshrinkers, Beveraly Brothers, Fabulous Rougeaus, Strike Force, Quebecers and Bushwackers.

The Island Boyz? So far they're bad-ass? You have GOT to be kidding me. I am not slamming the Boyz, but how can anyone say that "so far" they've looked like anything spacial.

They came out dressed like they'd come straight from the nearest mall - GET SOME RING GEAR FELLAS! - and hit their finishers. Now admittedly, they've got some nice finishers.

Whupty-freakin-do.

The thread here is about the GREATEST tag teams of all time. I don't even want to hear about the Island Boyz being on that list until we've seen a few matches out of them.

Make that a great big steaming shit-load of matches.

And the Natural Disasters? Are you guys high? Where can I score some of whatever you're on?

The Shockmaster and Tugboat? Lordy...

I'll give you Strikeforce though, just foe Rick Martel alone.

Hey, the Shockmaster IS Tugboat! The Natural Disasters was The Shockmaster and Golga, or Tugboat and Shark, but never The Shockmaster AND Tugboat...

Damn straight, OlFuzzy.
Yes, I think the Island Boyz are bad-ass so far. I'm glad you have an opinion. I'm glad I have one, too. Everyone does.
What I said was someday, we may be calling them the greatest tag team ever. I didn't say they are right now.
As for the Natural Disasters...I guess I need to break out my [/sarcasm] html tags so the newbies will know humor when they see it.
Sheesh.

How about the Islanders, King Tonga and the Tonga Kid? Can't forget them... the Midnight Express, the Rockers, the Rock 'n' Roll Express, Arn and Tully... for some reason I always liked Ivan and Nikita Koloff... The Hart Foundation, Demolition, the Dudleys...

and, last but not least, THE VILLANOS!!!

The Villanos are kinda bad these days, but it doesn't help that they're working alongside their older brother, V3, who owes Jesus money, and V5's knee has blown out on him in the last year or so. And they stopped wearing their number on their tights now, so you can only tell V4 & V5 apart by how pudgy one is compared to the other. But they were fun.

For best team ever, I think I'd take the Midnight Express (regardless of incarnation) for the States, El Santo & Gory Guerrero for Mexico, and Kawada & Taue for Japan. Good luck finding footage of Santo & Gory, though.

Now THIS is a thread!

Arn and Ole Anderson / Road Warriors / Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda / Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Shiek.

Let's not forget Manny Fernandez and Ravishing Rick Rude, baby! ("WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU!")

Sure Midnight Express, and Rock N' Roll Express, and LOD were great, but what about another old NWA team-up--it was the Barbarian, and I forget the other guy (Meng?). Anyone remember the tag team the Barbarian was in?

At first it was the Warlord and the Barbarian. Barbarian tagged with Meng (Haku) later on in WCW.

Yeah, really. That DDT was about one of the coolest spots of the night. Damn that Jamie Noble for making me a fan of his. He was never this good in WCW.
