Apparently, you have never seen a Hogan, Nash, Naitch, or Mark Henry match.

Also keep in mind that most audiences are not used to the fast pace that Rey can actually do. Something tells me that he was told to slow down a bit so people can actually see what the move(s) entail. Kind of like when movie producers told Bruce Lee to slow down so people would be able to see that he is kicking/punching.

Remember who the majority of the audience is...

Well, I was more referring to Steph as a believable face, considering the heat she got was of the "X-Pac/Bossman" type that drove people to turn off the TV. I mean, she's actually entertaining to watch again! And her acting isn't THAT bad (but then again, she was standing next to Stacy all night).

My predictions...

Henry vs. Lesnar for next week. Heyman can do an interview telling Henry that he was punked out to show Brock was an "old next big thing" was like. Henry can retort by saying that it took him two years to get his ass kicked by the Rock, whereas it will only get Lesnar a few months. Henry then gets killed in the ring.

Hogan/Edge/Cena/Rey vs. Jericho/Test/Storm/Christian for Summerslam??

There can only be one Smackdown superster whose defection would rock the show...Rikishi's hat.

for some reason i just don't get into smackdown as much as i get into raw. never have. it's odd.

rey's match was GREAT. i hope that was real crowd heat we heard.

hogan is really the only big smackdown name that hasn't flat out said no to bischoff. boy howdy that would suck. i'd love to see bautista be the guy to jump and have eric repackage him as leviathan. i'd just love to someone jump and get immediately repackaged on the new show.

First off Answering poster-Stephanie question, I think she meant Eric picture that came on in between the 7 second spot of showing all the shows logos and the theme music. Well Smackdown hat the 7 second prelude before the song but then went straight to Steph in some control room for a minute hyping the matches and the show, it actually looked pretty hip. They hit the theme music (with Trish still in it ) And went straight to Kurt Angle music without the Smackdown pyro

I liked the show, which is surprising because there was a lot of people on it that I could care less about (Henry, Val/Dvon, Albert/Rikishi) But the stuff I really looked forward to hit really well. And the great main event put a good taste in your mouth leaving the show. It wasn't as awesome overall Raw but it was still pretty good show.

-Henry v. Angle - The match was forgettable, Brocks F5 on Henry was pretty damn impressive. Interesting interplay with Angle being pissed.

-Val v. D-von - Hardcore comes out with the always fashionable T-shirt and underwear look. This was as actually as decent as I think d-von can look. Good match.

-Rikishi v. Albert - Again I think both guys tried hard, but I just don't like either of these guys. I can't believe Rikishi schtick is still getting a reaction . I was going to go with good effort until I see the stinkface which annoys me so it's a wasted match. The fans seemed to like the Fat Man, I'll give him that.

-Hogan/Rock v. Storm/Christian - Here comes the goodness. Rock again amazing, Even though it was 2 on 1 most of the time they worked the match really well. I love the spot when Rock was running the ropes and Storm kind of slapped him by behind Rock stopped looked at Storm, Storm shrugged, Rock mirrored Storm and shrugged the exact same way and threw a punch... Christian ducks the big boot and Storm/Christian hit a double back suplex on Hogan was nice. It went for almost 10 minutes. Run in I guess was necessary and smart F5ing Hogan. Hogan has really been a pro his entire time in the WWE proving a lot of people wrong.

-Mysterio v. Chavo - It seemed like 6 minutes, so it was a decent time. They both build it up well. Chavo go tons of offense in. It was just so cool seeing Mysterio (not lil bow wow Ray Ray and I'm glad he came in the mask, he seems more fun to watch. That area code move was neato. The whole 6 minutes was great.

-Cena v. Test - After his horrible Heat interview he saved himself with this SD interview, Good impression... Nice match hard to follow Ray/Chavo but they got some move set and was pretty entertaining. Another Face win with the heel getting his heat back, Cena needs to learn to run the second the ref hand hits the mat 3 times

-Edge v. Jericho - pissed off they didn't show the start but oh well. Hey Cole is Jericho a coward for wanting to leave the ring and win? Great match, Amazing high impact moves, electric chair (cole called a move), faceplant, bulldog all from the top rope. Good use of a chair shot, Love Edge's spear when Chris was stuck on the ropes and when he had the chair... NIce finish with a bunch of fresh faces (double use for face ) standing tall in the ring as the show closes with the fans cheering legit (not voiceover cause they were standing)

other stuff - I'm still not totally buying stephanie I hope she wins me over, I just can't stand her acting. They should have faded to black when the vase hit the wall but they had to go back to her doing this stupid look... Poor Stacy months playing kiss tag with Vince and they pay off is nothing... Edge gave Steph the "I have something to show you" line and she fell for it, she's lucky Edge is a nice guy... Seeing wrestler leaving the arena in there tights like Brock did is always disturbing, if that's a rent a limo poor person who has to use it next. Why is Brock in his tights if he didn't wrestle at all tonight.

Looking at the show I just noticed ALL FACES WON, Sometimes by getting beat up by DQ, and sometimes the heel got his heat back but all faces won. Henry beat Angle by DQ, Val beat Dvon but heel attacked afterwards, Hogan/Rock def. Anti-Americans by DQ, Cena beat Test, Test beats him up afterward.

ScreamingHeadGuy asks ~ Stacie goes to Steph's office (hmm, does she sleep with all the Smackdown! owners?). I doubt it Trips didn't even like (allegedly) Steph cheating on him with a guy while he's injured for a storyline/breakup angle. How is this big strong man going to react that his ex-wife jumped teams after being in a relationship with him... That would make him the George Costanza of the WWE

Line of the night : Cena "Canada has free medi-care but they sure don't have free dental care". Funny line

Sign of the night : "World Wildlife Entertainment"

Real good show tonight not as great as Raw but solid effort, great tagtitle, main-event and rey match and a decent effort from cena/test, dvon/Val to make this a positive show.

All SMACKDOWN!s should be like this. This was the best WWE show I've seen in a long-ass time. Probably the show one since one of the good RAWs last year (Rock/Jericho, Austin/Angle, Austin/HHH-Benoit/Jericho. Take your pick)

It's great to see that WWE is running with Rey as a top star right out the gate. Rey/Guerrerro was one of the better high flying matches I've seen on WWE TV, although that's not saying much. Having Rey be the last man in during the last segment really shows how important he is. This is probably the best example of debuting someone and getting them over in one night, which is something WCW never had the courage to do.

Cena's promo was... okay. They really need to give this guy some facepaint or something. He came off as someone who knows how to talk, but developing a character takes time, so I don't expect his interviews to be coherent right away.

I'm amazed at how much I actually cared about Test tonight. It just goes to show that if you put the right people in the right segments, everything starts to "click."

I had to be reminded that Jericho & Edge were feuding, since the two split up to do their own thing for the last couple of weeks

And, the end of the main event where we saw Edge, a face, win a grudge match CLEANLY (although, it WAS Jericho) was a refreshing sight to see. This doesn't happen very often in WWE. But, yeah, the REAL end, where we saw Team Canada/Anti-America get attacked by Cena & Rey (No Hogan, HHH, or UT anywhere in sight) really had me pumped and I hope the main event scene on SMACKDOWN! stays something similar to this.

I thought it was pretty obvious, even from reading the tapings, that "Eric" was Eric Angle, but at least they tried to make an interesting angle out of it.

It's probably Hogan that's going to RAW, because if it's not him, then who else could it be that people would give a damn about?

EDIT: I can't avoid the thought that the quality of this show drastically increased, because two certain Hosses are no longer on it. Let's hope it stays that way. :)

Random Smackdown Thoughts:

Can't wait to see what CRZ thought of the opening segment.

Where's Farrooq? He hasn't wrestled in a few weeks.

Cena's promo was hilarious. Sadly he didn't do the "rewind" gimmick.

Anyone notice that when they had the countdown i was a few minutes after when Smackdown would end.

Mysterio-Chavo was one of the best matches in a long time Good job by Cole and Tazz on that match.

Main event was good. Odd seeing Mysterio and Cena in the end.

I say Hogan was in the limo, since they had that bit with Lesnar earlier.

Steph was alright again, but I didn't hear that much crowd noise during her promos. I guess the crowd still doesn't buy her as a face.

And I have to say that Rey's intro of "Lucha in the Box" was aboot the clooest intro ever...Next to Gangrel's intro.

As much as I love Rey, a burning ring o fire is still muy bueno!

Oh man, let Rey have the launching pad AND give him the burning ring o' fahr. That would be really cool. Unless they launched him into the fire, that would be less cool, what with the burning. But that was a neat entrance, and Misterio/Guerrero was a nifty match. I loved him turning the rope fakeout into offense. And that German suplex Chavo did where Rey ended up landing on his ribs and screaming in agony was cool.

I only caught the second half of the show, which is what I wanted to see, so I don't know how the Henry/Angle match was. I think, in retrospect, I'd have liked to see what Angle could do with him.

Two really good TV matches for the half I did get to see (Misterio/Guerrero and the Edge/Jericho cage main), so I was happy. Throw in Benoit/Booker, Eddie/Rock and the good enough Ladder Match from Raw and that's five matches I really liked and was glad to have seen from 1.5 of the shows this week, so I like the potential of where they are. Edge/Jericho had some good parts, but between that and the recent spate of ladder matches they've had, I think they need to move the Ladder and the Unforgiving Confines of the STEEL Cage to the backburner for a while before they burn them out. You can only give us so much "it hurts so much to climb this, wait, someone's hitting me in the back!" in a month or so. We're do for Last Man Standing, I sez.

Test was SO looking in the general direction of Cena's international area. But after some thought, I have decided to give Test the benefit of the doubt and I have concluded that Test, like the rest of us, is fascinated with Cena's obsession with dressing Crayola-style in those primary colors, and he just had to be the first to see what color Cena was going with tonight. I've seen the light on Cena's weird-o ring attire now, though, because he fit right in standing next to Misterio at the end. It all comes together!

That was a nice, energetic face revenge beatdown at (what should have been) the end of the show there. Storm got launched into the cage wall and Misterio scampering up the cage and hitting the press from the top was great. I hope Hogan hasn't split for Raw, because I need to see a Misterio/Hogan tag team just once. Especially if they color coordinate. A hot tag from Misterio to Hogan? Yes. A hot tag from Hogan to Misterio? Awesome.

There was crap, of course, because anytime they're doing an owner/commish-based angle, it's going to have crap. The Steph segments were pretty bad, I thought. And the ultra-cheesy ending with "But Kurt...who WAS in the limo?!" needed ominous organ music and MacDonald Carey narration and a plug for Tide Laundry Detergent Presents WWE SmackDown. Or even a little boy who is also an evil puppet, if they were really gonna go for it.

I say it's Jericho, by the by. He had time to get out of there in a hurry since they threw that "I'm Stephanie and I need to be on TV!" "I'm Billy Kidman, and that guy still has my cruiser tag belt!" thing in there between the unopposed face celebration in the ring and Bischoff arriving in the limo to deliver his stunning knockout blow of having a moon roof.

Two good shows this week. I think that's the first time I've felt that way since that one week this time last year when they briefly had the Invasion right (UT's plancha onto the Alliance to save Angle) before killing it.

As this is my first post, I don't want to sound too much like Jerry Lawler, but here goes:

I loved the scenes with Stacy and Steph together. Give me a delicious tall blond with an amply implanted brunette any day. I'd love to see some other types of screen chemistry between the two.

Other thoughts:

Lesnar's promo on Angle, which Angle sold, was good. Not yet great, but really, really good. Lesnar reminds me of someone, I'm just trying to remember who. Maybe a little Stan Hansen? I dunno, but what I'm trying to get over here is that if/when he beats The Rock for the belt, it will look good and it will be impressive. Everyone is selling this guy just right. The build is accelerating, which is good. With him "browser refreshing" both Hogan and Mark Henry in the same show, it is establishing him as a heel who is a force. It gives him two easy Smackdown opponents to go over during the next couple of weeks before the PPV. It is simply the way to go when building him up. Brock needs to go over some huge faces before people will accept him going over The Rock. Well played, WWE.

John Cena is getting a nice babyface push. Needs more time on the mic or working with his writer, but it is coming off nicely. He can work well and is only going to get better with experience. Looking forward to seeing him in programs with other mid-card heels. Cena sometimes looks overmatched when in the ring against a main-eventer like UT, but other than that he's developing fine.

As awesome as Rey's debut was, and as badass as the whole main event scene was, I think my favorite bit of the night was the "Woodchuck, woodchuck" chant for Test during his match. If the crowd keeps that up at future shows, Test has a chance at actually getting over.

Exactly. I mean, Brock is like a lump of unmolded clay right now. This last Smackdown has given him more form than he had before, that is certain. I agree, it'd be nice if his voice was a little more menacing. It'd be nice, but it's not necessary. I mean, nobody is more over in pro boxing than Mike Tyson. He sounds like he swallowed a pixie. Lesnar has that beat by miles. He'll get over.

SD! was outstanding. I *love* Rey`s entrance, and the fact that he doesn`t have generic-guitar-riff music (John Cena and Brock Lesnar, I`m looking at you!) adds to it.

But the sign of the night? Did anyone else see the Yoda Hulkamania sign? I believe it said, "Live Forever, Hulkamania Will" with a picture of Yoda wearing a red & yellow bandana.

Brock may not have a hugely deep voice, but he is more believable in the more soft spoken manner he uses especially when he is standing next to a overly hyper Haymen most of the time
