Tye Dillinger is the latest WWE talent to request their release. He revealed this on his official Twitter account as to “set things straight” before any rumors started to spread.
“This evening, I requested my release from WWE,” wrote Dillinger. “In the past 5 and a half years with them, I have seen and done some wonderful things. Things that I am very proud of and will never forget. I have met and have worked with unquestionably, some of the greatest talent on this earth and the pleasure has been all mine.”
He went on to explain his reasoning for the release. “I feel at this time this decision, as extremely difficult as it was, is what is best for myself and WWE. I wish to continue to grow as a performer and offer those paying hard earned money to watch a show I’m performing on, a little more of myself.”
I actually like Tye pretty good, but really, he's the very definition of a guy who's going to get lost in the shuffle of WWE. I really wish that they'd stop thinking that their problem is that they don't have enough guys, or the right guys, or whatever. Literally everyone who works for them is great. The worst guy they have, the one you hate the most, is an elite talent. Otherwise, they wouldn't work there. The problem is booking and matchmaking, and not getting behind guys they've already got. Look at Kofi. Guy's been around 11 years, and for the last 5 or so has been 1/3 of (admittedly, an extremely popular) tag-team. Suddenly, the guy has two great matches and he's the talk of the town. You may remember that the exact same thing happened with Seth Rollins after his gauntlet match last year. Turns out wrestling was the answer all along. Who knew?
Anyhoo, I hope this means better things for Tye, a guy who's been on WWE TV about 5 times since they called him up 2 years ago.
- the AJ Styles/Seth Rollins pool of guys who will always be on TV because they're considered real stars
- everyone else, who is hopeful of being popular enough to move into or towards that top group, or of latching on to one of those top acts, or that they nail a one-off idea so well that the writers/Vince falls in love with and puts them on TV every week until runs its course or is forgotten (Kofi this week, Mustafa Ali and R-Truth in recent months)
Tye already had his bolt of lightning with the 10 bit and has been hoping (and probably trying) for a second one to hit. The more people WWE calls up, the more people also hoping for that same bit of lightning and the odds of it hitting you keep getting smaller. There used to be other ways of building people up with preliminary feuds over time, but there is way too many people for that now anyone not already important to get attention.
It does seem like there is a new way to get attention though. Mike & Maria reportedly asked to leave and got a bigger role on 205 Live. The Revival asked for their release and were given the tag titles. The Usos have hinted they're going to test free agency and got the tag titles. I think we're going to see a lot more of people being vocal about being unhappy in WWE because there are genuine reasons to be unhappy, but also because it seems to be working.

I think we might finally also find out who they actually think is valuable, and who they just bought up because they could. One of these guys is going to ask for a release, and is going to be quite shocked when they grant it.
Not only no "future endeavors", but they don't care if he wants to come back or not. 38 years old and like Cubs said, a real low man on the totem pole
The idea that Vince hot-shotted the NXT Guys is probably a message of some sorts. But given the recent call ups with clean wins vs what happened to EC3 and the likes, you probably don't need a Weatherman to read the writing on the wall
Probably not a easy decision to make, Jericho has come out and said "It's a WAR". Good time to be a wrestler and a fan

Demonstrations are a drag. Besides, we're much too high
If he wants to get released anyway, he should start campaigning for wrestlers to vote to join SAG. It would fit in with what he's complaining about, likely get him fired, and shine a spotlight on something that should be happening anyway.
