It's legal here now! Assuming any of your local stores actually opened on schedule (most didn't) and that they had enough supply to meet the demand (again, most didn't).

Never done it even once. Nobody believes that, which is fair. I like snacks and music and not doing much and I have a weird smell. Not opposed to trying it but I just never got around to it. It's kind of like lobster in that way.

One of our national newspapers printed a guide on how to smoke pot but they were too scared to show said pot and also is that filter a real thing?

Any of you Canadians excited about this? Any Americans planning on heading up for a visit once we work out the supply chain issues? Can you tell I have another concert review to write and I'm procrastinating?

Just from a quick skim, I would probably need to drive to Manitoba instead of Ontario? Or, you know, I could just ask a friend to hook me up and save myself a whole lotta driving.

I've still never smoked it, believe it or else. I've always said I'd do it when it was legal and then I spent all that time in Oregon (and California, come to think of it) and never once tried it. Eh...there's always next time. ;-)

I think I know why...

Also to be fair, people thought I was a giant pothead because all of my friends were and I also like snacks and not doing much.

Jokes on me? Now I am.

Go with the edibles if you want to take the first step. If you don't smoke at all you ain't gonna like a hit of a joint or pipe. The old light headed coughing yer brains out buzz is like over drinking tequila. You'll swear off of it

Tip - be at home when you eat a cookie. World's got enough freaks

I was a functional pothead for around 15 years. I stopped (2014 or so?) largely because life became complicated enough that being high on the regular was getting in the way of Real Life(tm) and because the weed was getting so intense I was having too many nights where instead of having a good time I would end up sitting and questioning every life decision I'd made in the last 20 years. Basically it stopped being fun or an escape.

My 25-year-old self would have been thoroughly disappointed in me that I wasn't in line on the first day. Me at 42 is very much okay with that; I went a few days later when the lines had diminished. I'm very disappointed I'm in a province (NS) where the liquor corporation was given a de facto monopoly and where alcohol and cannabis are not being separated. They should be. And there are lots of dispensaries around that could easily have slid into a legal weed scenario and provided better service with a more personal touch while the government would still get their money.

That said, the experience I had when I went into a store was fairly good. It was pretty clear that the sales associate wasn't speaking from experience, but it was also clear that they had done quite a bit of training. Ditto for the associate at the counter. I walked away with two strains that met my needs and I've enjoyed having a little this week that was right up my alley. Got ripped and binged "Final Space" on Netflix last night (which is interesting in itself because I don't consume movies/tv very much these days). I'm sure there's plenty of weedbros who would wax poetic on how the stuff I bought is shit, but I assure you that most of them weren't paying $20/gram for heavily stomped hash 20 years ago and don't really appreciate how good they've got it.

Overall I'm pretty happy to live in a country that has acknowledged on a national level that cannabis is acceptable as both a recreational drug and as medicine.

Possibly most importantly, the recent announcement of free and expedited pardons for minor marijuana offenses is, to me, crucial to overcoming any remaining stigma surrounding a substance that has value in our society if used responsibly.
