A great card in my opinion.
I started a few minutes late, saw Ropongi 3K in a decent match fall to the Kanemura whiskey shot.
Yoh and Sho are a good team, would rather have them win it.

Juice Robinson & Finlay defeated Jay White and Yoshi-Hashi.
I can't stand Yoshi. The guy is not bad at all but just is a big black hole of charisma. "Here, I have a staff.I am awesome" is his gimmick. White isn't much better imo.
Finlay is weird..his persona and style are a mystery to me.
JUice..wow..more flamboyant than ever and it's working I guess. He pins White to probably challenge for the US title soon.

Minoru Suzuki and ZSJ defeated Ishii & Yano.
Decent match, but ofcourse it's all about Ishii and Suzuki wanting to kill one another. I do enjoy Suzuki's and ZSJ working someone over together. Also, Submission Sadists should be their real team name.

Mike Elgin (who dropped a lot of weight and wanted to show it off) defeated Taichi and Goto to win the NEver open title.
PRobably the match that interested me the least, not sure why. It was a solid triple threat though.

The Young Bucks defeated EVIL & Sanada to win their first HEAVYweight titles in NJPW. MEh, good match but I would've waited. Add a bit more drama and buildup(but actually thats soemthing NJPW never really does with their tag division)

Cody/Marty Skurll/Hangman Page defeated Tanahashi/Liger/Mysterio
Wow. That's a team of fucking legends. And they went down because probably Cody needs to look strong. Not bad at all. Liger amazes me still. Rey is great and Tana is a fucking God.

Hiromu Tanahashi defeated Will Ospreay to get the Jr Heavyweight belt. After his crazy matches in BOTSJ this was another great one. Ospreay btw has evolved in the last year(s) from "that flippy guy" to a solid wrestler. Hiromu however is insane. He wins after a great match.

Naito vs Jericho. Wow. The entrance, the brutal attack by Jericho before the start. The guy is working on all cylinders to bring a different Y2J to NJPW. Also, this style is probably the only one that can stop Naito from being his tranquilo self. Match was a mugging at first, then found a good flow and shockingly Jericho won the IC title.
Rematch in the USA? Or will EVIL get the shot.
Then Jericho is a good way of transitioning the title.
And I liked this match by JEricho more than his WK12 match.

Okada vs Omega. Wow. What a match.
I'm not sure if it's as great as the first one (Okada wins) or the 2nd one (timelimit draw) to be honest.
But by the hype and specialty alone it becomes great regardless.
Omega finally slew his demons, shred some weight and gave up everything (so...the BC logo dissolved..is he out officially?) to get here.
A great match, even though as usual with these two it's a few too many V-Triggers vs SICK dropkicks.
Omega finally managed to hit and capitalize on the ONe winged angel to tie the match after falling behind 1-0.
Then he hit it again to win the title. I totally expected Okada to kick out of the second one that ended it. That's just the way he rolls. But nope.
A great title run by Okada, and we'll see what Kenny does now. Nice promo at the end (Golden Elite) and ofcourse Cody shows up to be the evil guy twirling his moustache. What could we see next?

Great show. I think top to bottom I maybe enjoyed it more than Wrestle Kingdom. Or at least just as much.

My wife caught that the video with Omega & Ibushi was directly quoting the end of Infinity War ("What did it cost you?" "Everyhing.") so I bet the dissolving BC logo was supposed to be tied into that too.

I was way off on basically all of my undercard predictions, but the main event worked out at least.

I’m definitely of the thought that this is probably the best match I’ve ever seen with one of the best title chase stories ever leading into it. Okada was unstoppable, Omega made an incredible transformation, and the match itself was a great story. I was really into that third fall after both of them had truly beaten each other twice.

This show also had some of the best camerawork I’ve ever seen from New Japan. That shot of Omega pushing away the belt to hug Matt is some next level brilliance. And that shot of the lone Okadabuck on the ground after Omega’s press conference was a thing of beauty.

I should just stop watching pro-wrestling now. This is the peak, but I’ll always watch the G1, so maybe not.

EDIT: Also, Omega’s Darkseid tights were killer.

What an incredible main event.

I'm a bit sad as I kinda wanted Okada's run to never end, but it probably was the right call. It certainly feels like a time of change at New Japan.

I also wanted Okada to hang on a bit longer, and then probably drop the title to Omega at WK. I thought for sure the story was going to be Okada kicking out of the 1 Winged Angel after they hyped that he never had all match.

I dunno about Ospreay as a solid wrestler yet. I thought Takahashi was paralyzed after that crazy one arm driver thing. There's crazy NJPW head bumps & then there's stuff like that.

I will never not get a kick out of how the gaijin just totally drop f-bombs at will in NJPW

Yesss...I did say they were very Kirby-New Gods-esque but couldn't place it specifically.

So between my two posts in this thread...Kenny was both Thanos AND Darkseid.

Jericho says he's not going to work a NJPW show in the US or do All In because he thinks that would cross a line where he might upset Vince.

You're right about Juice getting a US Title shot though. That WILL happen at he Cow Palace, along with Omega defending his title against Cody and a Bucks vs. Sanada/Evil rematch.
