I *loved* Bobby Heenan growing up and supported everyone in the Heenan Family with all my might. He was the only person who seemed to understand my dislike for Hogan as a young boy growing up in the era of Hulkamania. Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon will always be my favorite wrestling personality combo. RIP Brain, you were terrific.

I sincerely think there was never a more intelligent man in the history of the business. His humor was razor sharp. His skills as a heel were second to none. His ability to get wrestlers with no personality over will never be matched.

It's a shame his health tanked the way it did.

RIP Brain.

As a young kid growing up during the Hulkamania era, his wit and his sarcasm left a lasting impression on me. He was the first person I noticed that my father thought was hilarious, and so I clearly did, too. And as I got older, I saw him for what he also was - a dramatically good manager and personality. This one, like Piper, hurts and takes away a part of my childhood in a very permanent way. RIP Brain... you were way early on wondering what side Hogan was on... and you turned out to be righter than rain.

The world of pro wrestling, and the world in general, is a better place for his having been a part of it, and a sadder place for his having left. Rest in Peace, Brain.

Cross posting from my Facebook....

Bobby Heenan was the absolute greatest. A true showman, in every sense of the word. He was a like a sneaky little kid trapped in a mans body; armed with hundreds of sharp witted insults, but done in just a way that you could never get angry with him.

While most people probably fondly remember his days with the WWF, I thought his true pinnacle came in WCW. Starting in late 1995, he wined and dined Japanese business people at Nitro for months, with nobody ever the wiser that he was trying to sell them the COMPANY that he didn't even own!

After that fell through, he led the Four Horsemen as Coach Heenan - a role he was born to do. Working with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson just seemed like such a natural fit; all con men cut from the same cloth. Heenan looked so pleased with himself when he helped orchestrate Mongo McMichael turning on the NFL in exchange for the almighty dollar. All the signs were there, with Heenan constantly playing up that Mongo had left the Bears for money, but it was so subtle that nobody saw it coming.

And finally, his vindication. Heenan spent 15 years as Hulk Hogan's arch nemesis, pleading with us humanoids to accept that Hogan was a no good scumbag who didn't care about any of us. When Hogan dropped the leg on Savage that summer, everyone reacted in shock ... everyone except Bobby Heenan, who was jumping up and down screaming I TOLD YOU SO!!! It was as much Hulk's moment as it was Bobby's.

His battle with cancer that took away his biggest gift, his voice, has been heartbreaking to watch. Bobby has looked ill for well over a decade now, and probably longer. With his passing today, the suffering is over - and I like to think he's upstairs, trying to convince St Peter that Gene Okerlund should be on the list to hell.

RIP to the manager of all managers.

Raw should be the entire Royal Rumble 1992 broadcast from bell to bell without any commercials. It will be a fitting tribute for Bobby and a far more entertaining thing they are going to put on. Lets get it trending #RR92forRaw.

Sorry for double posting. He was the greatest manager ever who had amazing comedic timing, was witty as hell and had had the gift of gab. He got so many guys over that wouldn't have been stars without him. He was also the greatest wrestling announcer as he had so many classic lines and his banter with Gorilla was incredibly entertaining. You can fall into the rabbit hole of you tube and watch so many classic moments. I thought his best performances as an announcer were in the 1992 Rumble and when Shawn turned on Jannety. Who can also forget him claiming his monitor would go out when a heel cheated. I'm not really a big wrestling fan these days but I used to be a huge one back in the days and Bobby was a big reason why. I feel for the younger generation that never saw Bobby in action.

The absolute best manager AND the absolute best color commentator.

The 1992 Rumble should be required viewing for anyone trying to be a color commentator.

He was one of the funniest people of my lifetime, and I'm not just talking wrestling. Genuinely great.

Thank you, Brain.

When I was a boy, Channel 32 in Chicago had Bob Luce wrestling - mostly matches from the Ampitheater or the Hammond Auditorium - and Pretty Boy Bobby Heenan wrestled a little, but mostly he manages heels who would beat up all my heroes, except an occasional win by the Bruiser and Crusher. But the Blackjacks, Ox Baker, the Valiants, and of course, the Assasins. Later, here was in Verne's AWA and Tricky Nick and The Crippler ruled it. That's where bruiser named him Weasel.

Fast forward to the Hogan years and The Brain, he was so so good. I was so entertained - and that went to the end - Nitro too.

I paid attention to Bobby Heenan for about 50 years. That's a long long time. Rest Easy Pretty Boy.

Hell, what about Lawler vs. Andy Kaufman? There's only been, what, three movies where that plays a prominent role in it?
