Really, no one wants to discuss this. I sorta get it. Our winners are Cein, Sanity, Black, Asuka and McIntyre. We have new champions in Sanity and McIntyre. Drew and Sanity have anything in common besides being new champions they got laid out by a bunch of Indy guys I don't know about our smark crowd does. Adam Cole is the guy behind it, he is the same as Adam Rose?!

Asuka being champ after beating Ember clean is just a thing. I know people want her to move up, but if she moves up undefeated I am not sure how I feel about this. Hell, I don't fell about any of this card. This really feels like an NXT hitting their ECW age. A number of distractions lead to wins, there is a bunch of ambush finishes and a woman went through a table. We also have a smark crowd maybe too smark for their own good. Instead of booing Adam Cole/Rose? for ruining Drew's win, they are cheering Adam. The fuck? I am not opposed to NXT moving into that type of direction, but you have to be careful with it. Next thing you know we will get a bunch of scanty clad women rolling around...oh hi Mae Young tournament.

I enjoyed the parts I paid attention to. With NXT I tend to perk up for some wrestlers and tune out for some, typically the main event.

The opening match was a blast. Johnny is great as always and I finally get Almas, and having a valet helps a LOT.

The tag match was fun. Sanity have been a good thing for NXT, I'm glad to see them get the nod. Authors I think are heading up in the shakeup, there's not much else for them in NXT.

Speaking of which, there isn't anything left for Asuka. Who do you build up realistically? Bayley couldn't beat her. Jax couldn't beat her. Ember Moon couldn't beat her. Peyton & Billie can't. Nikki couldn't. And we know the Aliyahs and Liv Morgans can't beat her. Daria? Maybe a Mae Young Classic person? Really this was the time to pass the torch to Ember and move Asuka up. I kinda feel like Ember might move up first, actually.

I don't know Adam Cole or the other two, but it's a feeling of excitement and that's always good. I'm thinking Roode goes up as well to build up a midcard.

This has got to be it. There's really no other explanation for the booking. After protecting the Eclipse & selling the entire story around her hitting it, Asuka just kicks out of it mid-match? No delayed cover, no foot on the ropes, just straight up 1-2-shoulder up?

Put that together with Ember losing weaker than last time, her parents coming to see her, & (especially) there being an actual, real-life eclipse the day of RAW, & I don't see how she doesn't debut today or Monday.

Weird booking aside, this was MOTN for me, best NXT women's match since Sasha-Bayley. Moon has always had a great look, but her ringwork has improve by leaps & bounds and is really top-notch now & her promos... well, she can cut a promo & I don't cringe anymore, which is good enough.

Speaking of great looks, I loved both women's PPV costume level-ups (Ember switching out the red contacts for another color each PPV is SO COOL), & Roode's wasn't bad either.

This was a really good show with a slow main event that was redeemed with the ROH team run in. Also Itami and Black wrestled the wrong kind of match, I would have preferred a sprint. I cannot believe how over Gargano is, he's great but the fact that he is this over is amazing, good for him. Asuka is NXT's most perfectly packaged wrestler. I also love everything about Nikki Cross.

It's time for some call ups though. I'm sure that's why they showed Bryan and Angle looking on. The roster has become overloaded.

Yeah, they've spent most of 2017 building up Ember as the only one even close to Asuka's league...she's the only person Askua's ever cheated in a match with to defeat. There is literally *nobody* ready for Asuka if they weren't going to have Ember beat her.

Adam Cole BAY-BAY is an ex-ROH & Bullet Club guy whose ROH contract ran out a few months back. I actually saw his last ROH show here in Philly...haven't seen that much of him overall in the ring but he was a main eventer there. Fish & O'Reilly were also longtime ROH mainstays and a long-running tag team there. So basically, more instances of Hunter raiding the #2/#3 company for talent and blocking the homegrown/younger guys.

Roode is a pretty methodical wrestler and all but I actually fell asleep during that match. (I *was* really tired but still...)

I really dug the Itami-Black match too. Thought it was the best showing for either of them in NXT.

Gargano-Almas was a blast. Both guys gave it their all and I was shocked to see Cien get the win (he never wins the TakeOver matches)

The tag match was great too. Lots of action and the AoP are really improving, at least in brawls like this. I loved how Young set up the table before the bell even rang. I forgot all about it.

Black-Itami was a notch down but that isn't saying much. Great match. I expectd Aleister to win but hoped Hideo would get the W. This was a great hard hitting match but didn't have the intensity that the opening two matches had.

Asuka-Ember. Nice. Another great match, as expected. Loved the ending sequence. I thought Ember would deliver a 2nd Eclips while jumping over the ref btw

Roode-McIntyre was solid but compared to the rest this was the least of the matches. I like Drew so this was cool for him. Though I thought Roode as cocky heel (who takes on all comers, no chicekn-shit there) could go on for a while longer.

ReDragon attacking both tag teams was cool. The moment they showe up again after the main event you knew something else was up. And yup.. Adam Cole BayBay!
Cole has great charisma and having ReDragon as his muscle will help all involved.

Good to great show. SummerSlam is once again going to have trouble following this.

If the plan is to have Asuka eventually lose, there are worst options than Nikki Cross. That Asuka/Cross match from NXT a couple of months ago was an underrated classic that should've been on a Takeover card. If you're looking for someone credible to beat Asuka, look no further than Cross, who can beat her on pure craziness. She's like the Mankind to Asuka's Undertaker.

Takeover was roughly 50 times the show Summerslam was, by the way

George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.

I was too busy to get the thread going myself, but I thought this was a dynamite show, the first TO in a long time where I felt they had set a bar for the main roster that they couldn't hope to top. They had a great, hot opener, and Gargano has grown into the pure Sami Zayn-esque babyface that the NXT roster desperately needs. That said, Almas needed the win badly, coming off the losing streak angle, so that was totally the right call in my opinion.

SAnitY/AoP was a fun brawl, and I don't know if you'd call the match "good" in a technical sense, but I enjoyed every moment of it, and I feel like Wolfe has really managed to break out recently.

Itami/Black was v. good. I know some people have been a bit down on it, but it was everything I hoped it was going to be - almost. I really feel like Itami needs a big win, and soon. They're protecting Black, which I don't mind too much, but the clock's maybe running out on Itami.

Skipping ahead to the main event, I thought that match was the only downer on the whole card. And honestly, it wasn't bad, but it was a TV special if I've ever seen one. Drew's pretty good in the ring, but he's too vanilla for my liking, and Roode's a great character, but I've said (too) many times that I think he's a dogshit wrestler. Match was perfectly fine, but I think they banked too hard on the RoH run-in after the finish. We know Fish and O'Reilly from NXT television, and I know Adam Cole from the like 3 months where I had access to RoH television, but I don't think the crowd really recognized him. I like Cole, and I like Fish alright, and I hate O'Reilly, so we'll see how this goes over.

The women's match absolutely, absolutely should have gone on last. It was probably the best bell-to-bell women's match in at least a year (although I think I actually like the last man standing match more). I was pulling for Asuka to kick out of the Eclipse after all the buildup, and when she did, I came out of my seat. I loved Moon saying "I hate you," when she kicked out, too. I've been saying for a bit that Asuka should go up to the main roster unbeaten, although I also feel that she should immediately lose her first main roster match, to emphasize the different level of competition between the brands. But anyhoo, just send her up, then strip her of the title like they had to do with Paige.

Once again, Summerslam wound up being a slog, and this show was a crisp sprint through 5 enjoyable matches. Swap the men's and women's title matches on the card, and you basically have a perfect show.

I really enjoyed this show from top to bottom, despite not knowing who Adam Cole was.

I repeat what others here have said, and also that Aliester Black's entrance made me mark out and I'm not a metal guy.

I'm curious what the logic is to having a NXT champion have to lose before moving up to the main roster. Wouldn't it be to everyone's advantage to say, hey, the champ is so good, s/he can't be defeated in NXT, so they have to head to the main roster for their next challenge."

Like, aren't the wrestlers in NXT supposed to be not as good as those on the main roster? That is why they are in NXT. It isn't like the are retiring or moving on to mid-south or something, they are going up from the minors to the majors.

As just as a casual observer of NXT, I always found this obsession to be a bit strange, more of a smark need to have NXT be pure as opposed to actually making any sense storyline wise.

The rite of passage, you put over the new guy before moving out "of the territory".
But in this case (where you know it's part of the same company) it hardly makes sense yeah.
To be honest, with lots of guys it doesn't matter. But with Asuka for instance...she should NOT lose before moving up.
That was actually going through my head when she was working on Ember's arm and staring at the Horsewomen.

Granted I haven't seen a lot of Roode's NXT work and he's gotten a bit long in the tooth, but I really liked his TNA work with Storm as Beer Money as they had plenty of classic matches and segments and thought his TNA world title run in 2011-2012 stuff was great. I don't think he's a top flight worker but he's defintely above average and I'm looking forward to his main roster work.

Actually, I kind of think AJ is going to turn on both Bryan and Punk and help Kane win. Which will make winners of us all, as this will inevitably result in AJ becoming a sexy goth. EDIT: Great minds think alike 17 seconds apart.
