4 dead, many others injured.
London's mayor shrugs it off and says it's "part and parcel for living in a big city".

Nope. Nope nope nope.

What the Mayor actually said was being vigilant about the threat of terror attacks is part and parcel of living in a big city. What's more, he said this in an interview with The Independent in September of 2016.

Of course, this has been ripped completely out of context by the alt-right* but why show compassion for victims of an atrocity when there's point-scoring to be had?

I apologise if that last comment seems harsh, but March 22nd is already a kind of raw day for me personally without my country coming under attack, so this has me on edge a little. No offence intended.

*I don't want to say that it's exclusively the alt-right who present certain quotes out of their original context in order to further some kind of political agenda, but let's be honest with each other here. The only people I've seen tweeting about this in the wrong context are prominent alt-right names.

This is a little weird for me. The Lord Mayor of Westminster was just at our son's school on Monday, with the organizers of the London New Year's Parade, to invite them to march at the 2019 parade.

One of the questions that came up was regarding security, and he said much the same thing that the Mayor did, reiterating that they take security very, very seriously.

It's entirely coincidental obviously, but made the hair on my arms stand up thinking about it.
