My wife is flying out for a job interview next week for a job in San Jose. I've lived all up and down the east coast, and in the midwest the past 17 years. Ive never even been out west except a 4 day trip to Vegas. I know its super expensive compared to what we are used to. Other than that, can anybody tell me anythiny about the city and/or surrounding areas? Benefits, detractions, etc.
The only thing i really know is the Sharks play there, and there's a UFC event about twice a year.
Any input, suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Honestly all my Silicon Valley experience is now too long ago (1995-2004) to be helpful or useful. Every time I visit, I think the place is even more of a shithole since I left it. :)

Yeah, but I live just outside of St Louis, so I am sorta used to "shithole".
