I thought this was a big improvement over Dawn of Justice, but tied into it nicely.
It was way more about characters than plot, and did a lot to showcase Will Smith and Margot Robbie. She made Harley Quinn quite compelling. It's not easy to make a movie featuring villains, but they did their best with it.
So, we're building a team of bad guys to fight super humans, and if we weren't doing that, the super human they end up fighting, could not even be released/present?
I didn't mind this movie, and it's not terrible, but overall I just didn't care about anybody in this movie. I hate, hate HATE the old fake New York/Criminal stereotype accent that Harley used throughout the movie. It's just irritating.
Leto was...... eh. Barely in the movie. With all the hype he got over the past year, he probably should have been in the movie more than 25 minutes.
Will Smith was the best thing about this movie, and I didn't even realize he was supposed to be that big a part of the film.
I feel that people just want to hate on Leto's Joker because it's so different. I didn't see anything that didn't make too much sense (ok, lying in a circle of weapons was silly..) it's just a different take that we haven't seen before. I hope they continue down this road and develop him more (for instance, why wouldn't he be a crime boss? That makes more sense than that he's an agent of chaos jus trying to counter/destroy the Bat)
Yes, the plot was silly (Enchantress doing something that causes something that forces them to save Waller/the city/the world twice) but the acting was alright. I did think Smith got too many cool one-liners (though I noticed they cut the "let's go save the world" which was in the trailers) but meh..he IS a big name.Is he? Harley was absolutely adorable, vicious and hot. Of course her accent is psychosomatic. When she went from Harley QUinzel to Harley Quinn, she lost her mind but gained a whole new personality and accent.

You may be right. But when pics came out of Heath Ledger's Joker, many people weren't happy with the new look and were all set on hating the new Joker character. But Heath was able to change all their minds with his great performance.
Not sure Leto has done that yet. But he wasn't given a whole movie to do it either.

Again, I liked Leto's Joker. I liked the look, the laugh, the whole persona. I do think once he is given more than 20 minutes in a movie, the hate people have for him will fade a bit.
Life is hilariously cruel.
It ain't the six minutes... it's what happens in that six minutes.
Saw it this afternoon and there are some fun characters and good actors wasted in a dumb plot with crazy editing choices. It gained a LOT by leaning on Will Smith being one of the most charismatic actors of his generation. Nowhere near as bad as the reviews said but not so great either. You can definitely tell they tried to liven it up by putting So Many Songs on top of everything...then kinda gave up on that plan for the second half of the film once they're all in the city.
I really wanted to see more Mr. J. I just feel that I didn't get enough Joker to jump on the hate bandwagon. However I do think that they did good job with the charachter IF he's going to play a bigger role as DC finds its way in the world of movies. I didn't love Leto's Joker but I didn't hate him. That's a good start for DC.
Now, I'm not sure but maybe it's the fact that I am aware of the somewhat mixed reviews of the Joker and Deadshot, but I mostly really liked this film. I seriously thought that this was going to be more about The Joker than The Fresh Prince but I digress. It still worked.
Harley, wow. She's been a star in everything that she's been involved with in any story. That holds true in this film too. I don't care about her accent... I mean her annoying accent has always been there with every animated film anyways. That's just Harley Quinn.
Killer Croc needed better make up/design. I get going for a somewhat real approach, it just didn't work for me. The poor lip movement really killed it for me. Sure crocodiles have teeth that stick out of there mouth that would cause lip movement to be limited.... But that wasn't the reason for the poor lip movement for him.
In the end, I walked away feeling pretty alright with the money that I spent. Suicide Squad is the best DC release post Bale Batman and the best since really focusing more on a DC Universe movie world. Hopefully the high level Executive changes will result in turning out movies that step up the game for DC.
Ku was a fucking nightmare. I am so glad she's done. No real favorites last night. I was shocked that the brits did so well on the Yo Momma jokes though. Didn't think that was their style.
