Joey Styles has been future endeavored! I guess shitting on the name "Universal Champion" and 3 man announce teams doesn't go over too well with the boss.

Right, and there's no chance of that. The Meltzer talk was Styles had been close to getting let go for a while (maybe years?) and this was more the last straw than a heinous act on it's own. Like CRZ suggested, Styles might have known and was past caring.
I'm not sold on Styles being a good announcer again (and he may prefer to go back to selling gold coins!) because it's been so long since he was actually a good announcer. His WWE TV stint was not good, though that can be blamed on WWE TV. (One Night Stand, outside of wishing for Mike Awesome to commit suicide, was fine.) He was overrated by the end of ECW, but the end of ECW was killing everyone. Before that, we're talking about 20 years since he's done that job regularly and it didn't seem like he had much interest in non-WWE in recent times where it would re-energize him.
Still, LU's flirted with taking Vampiro out of the announce booth at the end of pretty much every season they've taped, and maybe Styles would be someone they'd look towards as a replacement. A Striker/Styles booth would not be an ideal situation for me, but I could see others liking it.

Only if he learns the Spanish equivalent of his catchphrases.

Aside from the larger "Vince woke up one day in 2005 and decided that managers were even worse than wearing jackets and sneezing" problem, I was always kinda surprised that Styles was never pressed into service as a manager type. He's always had the right skillset - knows wrestling, can talk, can be annoying if he wants to, looks at home wearing cheap suits - and there are plenty of people he could have helped over the last decade or so in some kind of cross between Motivational Speaker Teddy Long/proto-Advocate Paul Heyman spot.
I'd at least be interested in hearing a Styles/Barnett team calling NJPW for the AXS shows. JR - who is trying, to his credit - just isn't doing it for me on there and has taken a lot of wind out of the sails of my enjoyment of that as a weekly-ish show. Mauro/Josh had terrific chemistry and seemingly understood how to balance the backstories needed with telling the current stories, but now it feels like Barnett has to do all the contextual stuff as well a calling/selling the moves JR's not as familiar with. Feels like the Naito story is suffering in a major way as a result.
