Loved it. Loved the cameos, loved the humour, loved the special effects, loved the main four cast members, loved the fact that mocking male stereotypes was actually part of the plot given all of the sexist backlash online. I want to see Ghostbusters 2.2 immediately.

George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.

Question for you: What did you think of the trailers?

I thought they were fine, though I put zero stock in any trailer, good or bad. I've seen way too many movies that looked awesome in trailer form that ended up being awful.

I also loved it, and left angry that the man-babies had kinda won and impacted the box office. It's a little thin on plot and character development, but it's so much fun. I want to see it again in 3D ASAP, since I heard good things about the use of 3D.

I've had two moments of absolute, unadulterated joy at the movies this summer. The first was the airport fight in Civil War, and the second was Kate McKinnon's signature moment in the climactic battle of this film. I want more Holtzmann NOW.

Side note: This was surprisingly clean (at least, language-wise) for a Feig/McCarthy collaboration.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I was amused that "Answer the Call" is both the unofficial subtitle of the film and the thing the ladies keep trying to get Kevin to do through half the movie.

It's fun and funny and that's all I wanted out of it. It's a different movie, while still hewing a bit too close to the original. My two complaints are that Rowan is a really forgettable villain and the plot ramps up way too quickly in the 3rd act.

And of course - yes yes yes to McKinnon's performance, something I predicted just from her little bits in the trailers.

I don't think they really did - kids' movies are unstoppable juggernauts in theaters this year so The Secret Life of Pets was #1 (and Finding Dory is raking it in and the 145th Ice Age movie is out this week). It was "the biggest debut for a live action comedy" in over a year. If it's looked at as a box office failure, it's because it was an expensive movie that Sony spent a TON of money on.

It was OK. Nothing great, nothing bad. I enjoyed it but was wanting more.

Understated Wiig and McCarthy were a relief. I am not a huge fan of either so them playing it tamer works much better for me.

Leslie Jones, who I love, was understated too. It worked because if she was too loud, it might have felt more like an SNL sketch.

Kate McKinnon was terrific. I adore her. But she too was toned down. Which made the character work. Had she been more in your face, it would have seemed liek she was trying for camera time. Her character was by far the best.

Although, I loved Chris Hemsworth. He gave me the most laughs because they were unexpected. Good for him. Hope he is back for Part 2.

The cameos were great. All six of them. Rick Moranis would have been fun to get back though.

I am hopeful the sequel will be funnier. I expect it will.

My real problem was the flow and editing of the movie. It seemed choppy and rushed. I would love to see the directors cut- that probably flows much better.

I would recommend this movie to most people - except those who were hating on it before seeing it.

The female cast works. The did cast the right for women for this movie.

The funny part to me was seeing how much taller Leslie Jones is then the rest. She has to be 6'. The other can't be taller than 5'5" tops. She was towering over them!!

Good Lord, Kate McKinnon (spelling?) STOLE this flick. Even when not talking, just her facial expressions and actions were hilarious. I couldn't NOT keep an eye on her throughout the movie, which is odd, because I don't really care for her all that much on SNL.

The only gripe I'd have would be, the entire "we want credibility" angle didn't get a payoff, unless that is the focus on the second movie.

And was Rainn Wilson not available to play the heel?

That would have been perfect casting.

I feel the overall establishment of the antagonist was done better in this film than the original (I got Walter Peck and Ivo Shandor, the guy who established the cult of Gozer and set the wheels in motion decades before the film took place and was never shown, who are poor villains for 2016).

The movie was awesome. The editing was tailored to the 3D experience specifically, or at least that's what me and the better half think. The high dollar SFX needed some screen time after all.

I also counted 8 cameos if you include characters from the cartoon series/earlier films.

Holtsmann is the Ghostbuster I want to be now, even if she looks like Egon from the cartoon series.

"Mercado... that's Spanish for table." - I am still laughing. My 12 and 10 year olds enjoyed the movie, and my youngest *loved* Holtzmann. The previews also had the fun effect of making them want to see Suicide Squad (sigh).

Took my seven year old, his best bud (7) and that boys older brother (10), to this two weeks ago. They LOVED it! They couldn't stop talking about it on the 20 minute ride home. I really enjoyed it, too. The boys missed three of the cameos, but about DIED when Annie Pots showed up. "SHE WAS IN THE FIRST ONE!" all three of them (half) yelled. (It got some laughs from the 30+ year olds sitting behind us.) Took them a bit with Murray, and missed the final one. I filled them in on that one.

Not sure if this is in one of the other threads, and I still have the finale to go so it might be said in there, but if Lucille were to look down at her number 07734 it would read "hello", or Annyong if you were her Korean son.
