A.J. turned heel on Cena.

Wonder if they've ever considered turning the entire roster heel other than Cena and Reigns because that way the fans would have NO CHOICE but to cheer them.

Ah well.

Other things happened like a Game of Thrones refrence and.....yeah. The biggest thing is AJ turning heel to probably lose two out of three matches to Cena. Lucky for AJ, it will be a main event at SummerSlam. Cena will probably beat up the Bullet Club by himself at one point, so we have that to look forward too. As well as Steph/Charlotte at SummerSlam. Batisa's tweet is dead on, she is a cancer.

Rollins beating Reigns and then having Ambrose cash it in would be great. Thus, it won't happen.

Just one? A little kid with cancer might cry if he doesn't get the better of them on a regular basis.

Jesus Christ, AJ is being used as a top guy on equal footing as Cena. Cena probably will win the feud, because the WWE Brand always beats outside stars, but last night's face off and turn was about as well played as you can do it and you know the matches are going to be tremendous and yet people are still complaining about an outcome we aren't even close to yet. There is plenty of other things to complain about.

And how do you go from everyone chanting for Cena and AJ to whating Styles? Wrestling fans are awful.

Guess they just didn't like him sucking up to Cena, but that turned out to be the point of that promo.

I do my part; I've been to one WWE show in the past five and a half years(and that one only because a friend had an extra ticket). Let people have those seats that'll have a good time. There's other wrestling to watch.

In my view, this was the first post-Mania RAW where there was more bad than good. And the crowd helped out a lot on that front.

That opening segment was just shit. Hyping the New Era of Smackdown! with comments about how nothing is figured out just yet is utter stupidity. And please stop using "brand extension" as a term spoken by wrestlers.

That Reigns/Rollins segment was also shit on its face, but would've have come across slightly better with a crowd that responded to it.

One might be confused by Stephanie's ball-cutting of Charlotte since you might think Charlotte doesn't have balls. But see, Charlotte took her father's balls last week, and so Steph needed to act, since she wasn't the one who took them originally.

The Styles turn was excellently executed, and it was cool to see it happen in one night after a tease of a slow burn. Styles, Cena and the announcers looked and sounded foolish trying to sell that BIG MOMENT in front a DEAD crowd. Given the way the crowd reacted here (and throughout the whole show), I'm not convinced that the never-ending, super-loud dueling chants weren't artificially enhanced.

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho were incredible playing off each other in that backstage segment.

The crowd earned positive points for chanting "stupid idiot" at Jericho.

I'm with BigDaddyLoco on this one, I think the booking of AJ Styles is the best thing the WWE has done post Wrestlemania.

There are plenty of other things to complain about, like the women's division. I'm so glad that I didn't buy into the whole "Diva's Revolution" back when they introduced Charlotte, Sasha and Becky. That segment was more about Stephanie than anybody else and they seem to still think the women's division is about Stephanie.

I'm guessing the mindset is that people should be happy that Styles is in big feuds, regardless of whether he has any hope of winning them or not. In all seriousness, he's in his 30s and wasn't likely to be getting a top spot anyway.

"Divas' Revolution" = one one-minute match on Raw. I guess Sasha's been declared injury-prone or something.

Just looked it up - AJ turns 39 on Thursday...Cena just turned 39 in April.

I wanted to see Steph dance too. She still looks good. Yay shorts. Good for HHH.

Wish I could shake the mindset that the "new era" is simply all of these new guys being placeholders until the "real stars" get back from their injuries.

After watching that opening segment, I just want WWE to sign Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander as a tag team where their whole gimmick is to try and get Stephanie to dance. You can call them "The Get Down". It will make no sense, but will amuse me.

One interesting thing: It looks like The New Day will be involved in the Cena/Bullet Club menagerie. They have been positioned as a comedy team (and been wildly successful at it) but it will be interesting to see how they transition into a more serious feud. Will people buy them in an intense feud?

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

Cena/Styles and New Day/Club at MITB? Or, would we get Cena/New Day against the entire Club in an eight-man tag, with hints for the next few weeks about who the Club's mystery "fourth man" will be. Everyone gets hyped about Balor or Nakamura debuting and then the fourth man can be someone else making a surprising heel turn. 20th anniversary of the nWo formation, people!

George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.

Since absolutely everything has to be a nod to the past nowadays...which you can see on the WWE Network for an undisclosed monthly fee.

Saw Simon Gotch at indie shows a few times so I'm a bit biased in his regard; hope he can get a foothold somehow, but it looks like he and English are destined for midcard heel team status.

(Most of my weekend rasslin viewing was indie and Japanese wrestling, so I guess I'm officially "that guy".)

P.S. I'm aware that I botched the thread title; should be 5/30/2016.

Disappointing first hour.  I switched over to the NBA at 9 so I missed the 2nd and 3rd hour.  I caught up with the rest of the show via video clips and recap posts.  I'm in complete agreement with Mr Shh on everything stated.  I'm not sure why Stephanie has an issue with Charlotte over her treatment of the Nature Boy when two weeks prior Stephanie slapped (woooooooooooo) Flair.

Thought for sure "How Ya Doin?" would replace "WHAT?". Austin don't put nobody over

And "WHATing" is only a "W" away from hating. I should be WOTD for pointing that out

AJ has never been able to talk well, but he's probably the best at a Main Event Level Feud. I'd like to eventually see him against Orton, however that works

"Springboard forearm -> mid-air RKO" is how that works.

I will agree that wrestling fans are awful. It seems like everyone's just trying to shout each other down about which "fake fighter" is the best.

Imagine this whole show with 50% of the talent plus some NXT callups like Nakamura for show. Coming July 2016.

I don't know how I feel about the AJ turn. It might actually be a good thing for the character and it was not smart to turn him against Reigns, so waiting that out till tonight was fine. But, now AJ is in that spot where he can't lose his next big match and he's going against a returning Cena. I don't like where this is going, although Cena will sometimes drop that first match (see: Rusev, Owens) so maybe AJ wins with Club interference.

They've already completely messed up Rollins/Reigns. MITB has to obviously be Owens. Not much to look forward to here.

Spent that Styles turn imaging what this board would be like, what all boards everywhere would be like, what social media and blogs would be like, what the anticipation for the upcoming brand split would be like if it'd had been Cena turning and helping Anderson & Gallows beat down Styles. Like, imagine John Cena standing there in his goofy Ellen shorts finally doing the one awesome thing we've wanted him to do and just destroying AJ Styles for thinking he could walk in and be a main eventer without John Cena's permission.

Why don't they like fun things?

Couple that with the excruciating Rollins/Reigns segment, where the plan seems to be putting Rollins in the worst possible segments to get people to stop cheering for them...and I guess what I'm feeling is, you can ask me to deal with one of Cena/Reigns as "guy we're pushing at the expense of everyone even as crowds won't embrace them", but both at the same time is asking a lot and bordering on madness.

YES. Segment of the night. Jericho got in a shot on Mil Mascaras. Then when he decides he doesn't like either Del Rio OR Owens, Owens plays it as genuinely hurt ("I thought we had a good thing going?!"), which was so out of nowhere and amazing. And then Jericho has to take a moment to actually react to that and comes up with a deadpan "...I've soured on you. I've soured on you." Unbelievable, genuinely funny, and further proof that scripting these guys instead of letting them come up with stuff like this themselves is ridiculous.

If we can ignore the Asylum match itself, post-heel turn Jericho has been fantastic and a welcome presence.
