The combination of AJ Styles being #1 contender and his interacting with the Club *and* WWE acknowledging their history is a bit surreal to me. But cool as hell, tho. AJ and Reigns doing promos against each other - not so much.

I'm predicting that at the end of all this, Shane, KO, Anderson and Gallows are all going to be aligned together.

Two tag teams - not just one - that debuted only two weeks ago just leapfrogged over the entire field. Think about that for a second.

The Seven Nation Amore chant is the best. Trying to screw up the referee's count is the absolute worst.

WWE Payback is becoming can't miss. Think I might just take a trip up to Newark for WWE Extreme Rules next month.

Trying to make Reigns, the sympathatic face never works. People want AJ to be champ with the Bullet Club. Denying that is a blueprint for a disasterous summer. Bret coming back is cool. Right now, they putting on a good product, yet for some reason coughplayoffscough it is not making a dent in the ratings. So, HHH and Steph coming seems sadly coming sooner than later.

So another RAW with no Triple H and Stephanie 20 minute promo, no Bella twins, and no Roman Reigns match? It's not my birthday is it?

The great thing about Cena, Orton, The Bellas, being out for the forseeable future and the Attitude Era guys working infrequently is that Vince HAS TO use the NXT callups and get creative with his midcarders like Ambrose and Cesaro. I guess once we weather the storm of pre-Mania (and after a couple of injuries and walk-outs) Scrooge McMahon has to eventually give people what we want not what he wants us to want.

I am buying into AJ's ambiguity. Totally. Perhaps the performer himself doesn't know where this is leading and that's why his confusion at the Bullet Club attack is credible. I am starting to dig Bully Roman. This dynamic is so simple, and, so far, well done.

I am burning out already on Enzo. I take no joy in saying this.

so what are the possibilities here?

  1. AJ lied to Roman, really is working with Gallows and Anderson, and all will be revealed on Backlash
  2. AJ told the truth to Roman, but Gallows and Anderson are working for someone and (most likely) Finn Balor will debut on Backlash
  3. Gallows and Anderson have no purpose and are just attacking Samoan men for no reason.

I can't rule out 3, but I think it's 2. If it's 1 or 2, it does put Roman in a unhelpful situation for his first post WM feud, feuding with a popular cool heel stable. (Though Anderson & Gallows haven't done much cool since coming to WWE.)

I've figured out the Shane thing is just the result of bad planning - they don't want to put HHH/Stephanie on screen since they can't explain why HHH wouldn't just be going for a rematch or otherwise harming Roman, Vince doesn't want to be a weekly character, they can't imagine doing their own show without an authority figure, and yet even they couldn't stomach having Shane actually beat the Undertaker - but it's still all sorts of awkward. But the worst possible reason is #4 - Gallows and Anderson (and maybe Styles or Balor) are the new surrogates for HHH.

Between them showing up backstage with AJ and the two of them actually attacking Roman, I had it at these three scenarios:

1) AJ really is turning heel when they attack Roman at the PPV, which will only get them all cheers.

2) We're finally getting an unabridged Make A Difference Fatu Angle, with Anderson and Gallows trying to drag Styles back to the life of evil from which he walked away, and after Roman beats AJ, AJ's next feud is vs. whatever Bullet Club is called when he won't go back to his old ways.

3) Anderson and Gallows are setting AJ up and are actually working for Roman, with the swerve coming at the PPV when they show up and lay out Styles instead, cementing Roman as a heel but not part of the Authority, and making some kind of connection between the "Bullet Club" name and Roman's bulletproof vest.

After they attacked Roman, that made #3 - my favorite of the scenarios - seem unlikely, but maybe they can explain Roman kinda shrugging off/recovering from the attack pretty easily part of the story or something. I dunno. But Roman as a non-Authority heel (so as not to throw away months of continuity) transferring his heel heat over to Gallows/Anderson so they could act as real heels and not be cool heels seemed like a neat idea to me that would solve a ton of problems at once. (Roman becomes a heel, honors the Authority feud, Guns/Anderson get to be real heels for supporting him, Reigns is surrounded by a fleet of talent on all sides of his feud.)

Our #1s are in synch, and the most obvious/boring/likely scenario that only compounds things by having a cool heel stable fighting a wildly unpopular face champion, which would seem to solve no real problems (unless Styles is actually taking the belt and someone else gets to chase while Roman "recovers".) The only positive that comes from a straight "AJ leads the evil Bullet Club vs. Roman" scenario is that it all but guarantees a Styles/Anderson/Gallows vs. Reunited Shield match.

My #2 and your #2 are kinda similar and could work as a what's-next for Styles, though it doesn't solve the problem of Roman still getting booed at the match itself.

(I'll settle for my #2 scenario if AJ starts wearing Make A Difference Fatu jackets.)

If they are literally there as HHH's new henchmen, yeah, that is probably the worst for multiple reasons (#1 - because it means Roman gets to go over them, not Styles; #2 - they become HHH's Creative Control, which has multiple terrible connotations now more than ever). If it's a case of Gallows/Anderson as the precursors for a heel group made entirely of non-ownership wrestlers, I'm better with that. Yeah, an evil heel stable running everything has its own TNA/WCW problems, but a group of heel wrestlers dominating simply by beating people up is still better than a group of heel non-wrestlers dominating simply by getting to write the shows and burying everybody by making them look like ineffectual failures.

I would love it to be this option, but cannot possibly think they will go this way.

My theory for what's going to happen:
at the AJ/Reigns match, the Bullet Club comes out to interfere, only to be cut off by the Wyatt Family. This allows them to draw out the amibiguity a little while longer (is Roman with the Family?, is AJ with the Club?), keeping the heat going on both sides without actually turning anyone yet.

What if because of The Authority always jumping Roman he decided to put a group together. He needed guys to watch his back and Ambrose is always going off by himself. Unreliable. He was at his best leading a three man group. Could be the reason he hired Gallows and Anderson to form Bullet Shield? They only attacked AJ because he was going after Roman's title. He's not a good guy, he's not a bad guy, he's the guy and they are his guys. Another option is they call themselves

They are actually putting on some good shows and it will probably all be nuked due to the low ratings. I know the NBA playoffs went head to head with them, but it's not like Mavericks/Thunder was a compelling match up (although it did turn into a heck of a game, thanks to Ray Felton of all people).

My biggest fear due to all of this is that they will end up being henchmen of Triple H. You KNOW that he sees these ratings and things "They need more of ME!"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

One of the first things people notice about Baron Corbin, other than his size, is his very thinning hair. WWE last night did a tremendous job accentuating his height through camera angles and minimizing the focus on his thinning hair, also through camera angles. They're the best in the business at covering balding spots due to their years of experience with HBK and last night was no different. Great job by them.

I love that we have Nakamura, Balaor, Bayley, Asuka, and Samoa Joe on the "developmental" roster after the last round of call-ups. I imagine the conversations went something like this:

Vince's office

Vince: Hunter, thanks for coming in to see me. As you know, we've got a lot of superstars on the shelf right now. We're trying the best we can with what we've got but I would like to thicken the sauce a bit and add some talent from NXT.

Hunter: Uhhhhh, yeah. Sure. That sounds great. Anyone you have in mind?

Vince: I like the look of that demon guy. Finn Balor looks pretty good too, but the demon is a better fit for the roster. Also, Samoa Joe. He looks motivated. Could be good to stick him with Usos and Roman to make a kind of Samoan group. Joe is related right? They're all Rock's kids.

Hunter: That's not really how that works, but sure. They're related.

Vince: Great! I'm also interested in the hugging girl with those blow-up arm waving things. She connects with the kids and would be great on Total Divas.

Hunter: Ok...

Vince: So that's it then. I'll get someone to draw everything up and that'll be that.

Hunter: That sounds great pop. Really great choices by you to maximize your talent. I love the potential matchups that are there for all of them. I think you can make a lot of money with them...

Vince: nodding while looking off at a poster of Reigns

Hunter: I've also got a few other guys that I think would be great fits into what you're doing here and would love for you to take a look at them.

Vince: still staring at the poster of Roman YES!

Hunter: Ok. First up is Baron Corbin. He's a former pro football guy who washed out but has dedicated himself tirelessly to learning how this business works and has made great strides. He's got a great look. He's tall. He can move. And his gimmick is that he hates indie wrestlers.

Vince: A man after my own heart, HA HA HA. Ok, let me see him. watches some footage Yeah, he could work. Who else you got?

Hunter: Alright. I have this other guy. He's super green on the stick but he's money in the ring. Been wrestling for a while now and developed a decent following on his own before we got him. He's fucking jacked. And he's black. And he moves like Neville. But can throw people like Ryback. Apollo Crews.

Vince: watches footage, jaw quickly hits the floor THOSE VEINS! THOSE PECS! THOSE ARMS! THOSE THIGHS! HE'S BLADCK! Is he Samoan black or just regular black?

Hunter: He's reg...

Vince: Nevermind, it doesn't matter. LOOK AT THOSE ARMS! I want him.

Hunter: Ok. I have a few oth...

Vince: LOOK AT THOSE DELTS!

after three minutes of awkward silence while Vince flexes in his chair

Hunter: Sooo, about the other guys you wanted...

Vince: What other guys?

Hunter: Alright. I'll keep Balor, Bayley, and Joe. You can have Corbin and Crews.

Vince: Yeah yeah, whatever.

Hunter: Also, I'd love for you to give Enzo and Cass a shot on the main roster. They deserve it.

Vince: LOOK AT THOSE THIGHS!

Hunter backs out slowly

So - and observing the ban on fantasy booking - 3 would be cool if you could somehow use it to bring Joe into the fold.

I would like the Bullet Club (Bullet Proof, whatever they're going to call it) to span both NXT and RAW/Smackdown. IMO it would add a level of novelty that fans could get into, and also allow for better story telling when guys like Balor and Nakamura get called up. You could really stretch the imagination a bit and find ways to use it to elevate a few guys into the "Main Event Scene".

The points about low ratings are valid, but I hope beyond hope that someone looks past that for now and allows the product to be good.

You, sir, win the internets today. Bravo, and well done.

But as far as the future? Have Shane turn in to an irrational, raging, micromanaging control freak egomaniac.

Who will return from exile to defeat this threat to the once-proud WWE, and return to the proper order of things?

Only HHH can save us from Shane.

It's interesting to see that WWE uses this story of outside the WWE universe bubble and goes with it.
THey're doing the same with Owens and Zayn, though there they're already adding the NXT injury so at least htey have some footage.
It really is a new era, where WWE admits their wrestlers know eachother from other places.

Also, to stay in the 'who are they working for' vibe.
Seth Rollins. He'll show up after having AJ and Reigns destroy each other. He is the architect and the new cerebral assassin after all.
