Uncharted 4 is pushed back for at least the third time to May 10 becuase "we weren't sure we could print enough copies." This is a game they new was coming for months, which is probably going to be sold as much digitally as physically. The only way they're going to be behind in making discs is if the game code is delayed.
Look. I'm attached to this franchise already - not just whatever I put down for preorder months ago, but emotionally enough to talk me into liking at least some of whatever is released. More rationally, this game is at least six months late and that's a bad sign. If this was any other game, I'd pull my preorder and wait for reviews to be safe.
Sony also released the PS4 3.50 update plans. The big news is Remote Play is coming to PC & Mac. That won't be in the beta, so I have no idea how it'll work.
They'll also add the ability to get a notification when your friends log on, and also appear online if you want to avoid getting all notifications.
No Man's Sky will be on 06/21. They were planning on it being download only but now will have retail release and are hoping to do free DLC (if enough people buy it, I guess.)
I'm on the PS4 Beta! The only thing I've done is turned on the "show as offline" function - or am I just not online? You'll never know!!!(!!!)!!!
I should just make this the Video Game thread for March instead of PS.
Nintendo had a Nintendo Direct yesterday, a video presenation announcing upcoming games. Everything was leaked out ahead of time, which is maybe why I couldn't quickly find a recap? Here's one.
New Games
WiiU * Star Fox Zero (03/22) - sounds in the style of the classic N64 game. $60 retail/$50 digital, which is an interesting thing. There's also a Star Fox Guard game ($15) which is harder to describe, but you can get $5 off one if you buy the digital of the other.
* Paper Mario: Color Splash (later in 2016) - loved the RPG Paper Mario, hope this is more of that.
* Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (June 24): new events are Rugby Sevens and Rhythmic Gymastics Clubs. I will (probably) not buy this game but will definitely watch YouTube videos of people playing video game Ryhytmic Gymastics.
* Toyko Mirage Sessions #FE (06/24) - a RPG
* Lost Reavers (beta 04/14, 04/28) - free to play co-op action game
3DS * Kirby: Planet Robobot (06/10) * Metroid Prime: Federation Force (late Spring) - co-op shooter that's despised for using the Metroid name for something not like Metroid. * Monster Hunter Generations (this summer) * Disney Art Academy (05/13) * Hyrule Warrios Legend (03/25) * Bravely Seconds: EndLayer (demo 03/07, launch 04/15) * Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (later in 2016) - remake. * Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (03/10)
Virtual Console * Super Mario World, F-Zero and Pilotwings are up now. * Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart and EarthBound (03/24) * The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Quest (04/14) * Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (06/01) * Pocket Card Jockey (May): "Solitaire meets horse racing – really!"
amiibos I am not writing about amiibos.
Updates * Super Mario Maker (March 9) - new even harrder mode, new costumes, new tools.
* Spaltoon (March 8) - some balancing and improvements
I don't feel like I know enough about E3 to have a smart take, but I kind of wonder if we're hitting a point in video games where it's so much easier to get your message out on your own that the big companies go away from stuff like E3, and it's left mostly for the indie games.

Picked up NBA 2K16 and Super Mario 3D World (not for the same system!) this weekend. Super Mario 3D World is fun, and a bit easy (even it took me a while to figure out the 'you suck' feather was giving me some invincibility.)
I was struggling at NBA 2K so I decided to check out the much talked abotu Spiek Lee directed myCarreer mode. The 'movie' is so bad. It's terrible as a game, essentially 4-5 hours of game play where you make zero meaninging full decisions (despite obvious moments where there should be those decisions.) There's tremendous overacting and some of the worst storytelling I've ever seen - I am saying this on a wrestling message board and it's still true. Every big plot point seems to occur off screen, and you're left with people over dramatically reacting to things you haven't seen. It's so bad you should NOT see it, it's not even redeeming in it's awfulness. The normal career mode kicks in after that and seems much improved, wish I could've just started like that. (My character started rated 55, which is also a real issue.)
There's a Playstation Video app for Android, which will allow you to watch the same videos on your Android Device.
PSN Store update. There's a sale on Naughty Dog content too; was this one of the planned Uncharted 4 release days?

I want to be honest with you: I don't care about VR or 4K AND I don't think either of those things are going to be be adopted by more than a niche audience. I actually do not want a fully immersive experience, I'd rather multitask. I am all for people who want them to have them though.

The DOOM closed beta *finally* goes live tomorrow, March 31st. Per the store description, there are 2 maps - Infernal and Heatwave and 2 modes - Team Deathmatch and Warpath. It also says new weapons, armor, taunts and hacks.
09/10: NHL 2K8 - haven't seen reviews of this one, so you'll have to wait to decide which one to get (or just pick 2K to fight the power of EA) 09/11: NHL 08 - reviews note the same framerate problems seen on other EA on PS3 games.
