I'm hoping that Daniel Bryan comes out and makes his announcement, then right when everyone is hoping some music or other hits to reveal it's a work, it's Edge's music and he and Christian come out and they all just hug in the middle of the ring and then the entire audience cries and then Brock Lesnar comes out and does a Nelson laugh and they all three kick him in the nuts and then leave.
Between Kevin Owens posting a nice tweet and HHH tweeting about Bryan winning at WM30 being his favorite WM moment of all time and him always being an A+, I'm pretty certain this is for real now and that makes me sad, but also happy that he is going out in decent health.
Doubtful it's an angle, but hopefully they start up an angle out of his retirement. Perhaps something along the lines of the Board of Directors determining that HHH as champ is s conflict of interest and therefore they're naming a GM during his reign ...
I have to ask, if Bryan was cleared by the doctor from the Superbowl and further tests showed there was still damage, what does that say about the NFL concussion protocol?
Bryan is said to have underwent a new type of concussion test. It's great that there's more information out there, and I have a weird hope that what people are doing will be completely surpassed five years from now.

Whatever test he took must have turned up some really scary news. He went from defiant and looking for a release to I want live a fairly normal life really quick. I hope he didn't get out too late.
It is amazing Vince held his ground and held Bryan out with the roster crumbling around him due to injury. Watching the extra footage on The Network made me wonder just how many of those guys on stage started questioning their own health and well being?
Bryan really turned a sad moment into something special last night. I hope he enjoys whatever he does next as much as wrestling.

He detailed his history with concussions, followed by that he saw multiple doctors that said his brain was fine. A week and a half to two weeks ago, he had some more tests done (as Cubs mentions below) - these ones indicated that his brain isn't fine at all (like Locco said) and that he needs to consider his future, and the future of his family. So yes, a Corey Graves/Edge retirement.
And I must say, as much as a bummer this is, it's nice to "loose" my favorite wrestler while he's still alive (unlike my previous two).

Add Santino to that list as well. (It may be the only time you see him on a list with those two.) Dynamite Kid should go on there too.
When Mick Foley says a move is stupid, you have to be a fucking moron to continue doing it. Harley Race "invented" the move and has expressed regret for doing so because of the spinal problems it causes.

Santino who also retired early due to injuries... Yeah, I hated seeing that flying headbutt every single time Bryan did it. Should've been banned forever after Benoit...
I hope he doesn't go in this year as it is way too soon. He certainly deserves it and will easily headline one year, but it would be so much better to have him come in to it after not being seen or heard of for a while. Edge's was too soon and didn't have the sheer pleasure of seeing someone come back and didn't have the impact it could have. The speech yesterday certainly had the impact on everyone watching, unless they are truly heartless, so doing it again in a couple of months seems wrong. Might make people forget about Roman headlining though!
I don't think I've ever been attached to a performer the way I was to Daniel Bryan. He was the Everyman. He was the guy that was literally never given any kind of chance and was basically put into the Wrestlemania main event kicking and screaming. I want badly to give this company the middle finger for never giving him a fair chance, pushing him to the main event out of what felt like total protest, and just now deciding to profit off of him with retirement T-shirts and the like. I still don't feel like WWE ever truly appreciated him and would have been just as happy to see him go away two years ago.
And yes, I shed a tear watching that retirement speech. I've already mostly tuned out (for good, this time) and Daniel Bryan was pretty much the only reason I've stayed. Now I can go in peace.
Tough week for my first favorite wrestler(Bret Hart) and the person that will likely be my last favorite wrestler(Daniel Bryan). I'm 38 years old and I doubt I'll get that attached to anyone in wrestling again. Part of me wishes life was as simple as it used to be, when wrestling WAS my biggest concern in life. That's probably why I keep watching, long after it's stopped being as fun as it used to be.
