My wife decided NOT to host Christmas this year. That was enough for me. For anyone with kids who has to host Christmas dinner, the turn around from opening presents and enjoying presents, to cleaning up, rushing to church, and coming home to clean and prepare is awful. My wife gets really stressed out, which has the trickle down effect. This year, we leisurely opened presents, enjoy a nice long breakfast, cleaned up, got to church on time, came home, relaxed and then went to my sister in laws for desert (she had brunch) and then home for dinner. It was, in a word, glorious.

Pearl earrings, emerald earrings, and a silver heart ring from my boyfriend. My dad did his shopping online for the first time ever, discovered my Amazon wishlist and bought the lawn chairs, sheets, and TV tray tables I'd been eyeing. He also bought me a gorgeous heart necklace. My mom got me 3 ornaments, and my brother got me gift cards.

I got that gift too. Except he's my youngest.

- My wife is TOTALLY NOT a Star Wars fan. As in, she never has been able to watch the movies without falling asleep, and she doesn't get why people love the franchise. Her gift primary gift to me as attending an opening night viewing at IMAX 3D, and humoring me as I talked about everything from the original movies to the prequels to the old expanded universe to the new canonically accepted Star Wars materials to my gushing love of The Force Awakens.
I love my wife, she is the greatest.
- Numenera Core Rulebook, and Numenera Technology Compendium. Very excited to sit down and learn the Cipher System and get into the Ninth World.
- Gloves from my Mom!
- Cash monies to get a new tabletop game, unsure if what it will be. I've been seriously debating on Imperial Assault, but might look into a super intensive space title.
Because I just moved into my own apartment a month ago, my mom kinda went overboard as mothers are wont to do.
* Set of pots and pans * Towels * Drying mats * Set of silverware * Set of dishes * Set of glasses (didn't have the heart to tell her I already collected a bunch of pint glasses) * Brita pitcher
From my brother: * America's Test Kitchen cookbook * Handmade pouch
I can't imagine much else coming my way, but who knows how my ex-inlaws feel about that.

From my dad/brother: 2 Kindle books HEPA and carbon filters for air purifier New hand mixer Sweaters Kitty litter and food New floodlight for the garage area Wii games
From my boyfriend: Nothing. And no understanding of why it upset/angers me, because he was really sick for 3 days before Christmas and couldn't shop.

Well that sucks. Does he at least realize that he's going to have to rally up for an extra-special "make good", once he's stepped back from death's door?
A completely torn up front lawn. We bought my youngest a soccer net. Decent size. He asked me to immediately put it together. As it has been really warm here in NY lately, I went outside and was surprised how easy it was to put together.
Went back inside, and watched him from my couch as he and my other kids kicked the soccer ball around. It was great. Nice an quiet inside. Kids getting some fresh air outside.
Then I noticed every once and a while some neighborhood kids stopping by, which was odd that it was Christmas, but I was not overly concerned as it kept my son occupied and happy.
After a few hours (yes hours, he loved it) he asked me to come out and play. SO I got up and headed outside and noticed my front lawn was destroyed. Completely dug up.
Not wanting to yell at Christmas and seeing that it was kind of my fault for not checking sooner, we played for a while longer, repaired some divots and then had dinner.
The next day it was moved to the backyard, along with lessons on how to properly kick a soccer ball.
All in all, a good day.
Plus 1:30 Mass was empty and the priest was in a hurry to get out so the Homily was short.

Mother : cashola Sister : gift card (brand focussed cashola)
Yes - we're lazy Xmas gift givers in our family, but we never complain about getting something we didn't want.
Step sister (who is a beautician) gave me some foam free shaving cream which is probably some sort of subtle hint. Sadly I seem to be largely immune to picking up on these types of things.
Other extended family gave me the usual array of chockies, nuts, etc.
@Dutchie
I hope for your sake that he is just running an elaborate ruse for an awesome gift that is enroute but late in arrival.
A book on Disney animators and a book on the art of Tinker Bell; Ravenous on Blu-ray; a couple of card games, Parade and Arboretum; an electric blanket and a stripey thermal shirt; various gift cards and other clothes.

The game I ended up getting was the core set for Android Netrunner!

Unless expectations were set gifts weren't going to be given (like how this year I told my wife to buy me nothing until I find work), and gifts had been given on previous Christmas days, then I'd ask him why this happened and that you find it upsetting (IMHO).

so my big gift this year was one of those 23andme dna things - so I can figure out who I am I guess, I also got shirts, and a Cubs "W" flag and flag pole for celebrating next season.
The fun was giving this year as I am a new grandpa
